I continue to see this trend of so called "optimization" which Bioware would have you believe is an attempt to streamline the game, but in reality is just a corporate entity increasing their profit margin by lowering production costs.

Oh yeah, because making a fully voiced main character is obviously going to cost less than just using text.

Because do you not think that the leliana DLC dialog and voice is the direction they are going with Dragon age 2? I think it is. I know it is.
Don't be silly, how are you supposed to know this little factoid? Show me a quote or keep your "knowledge" to yourself.

And yet many people found the roleplaying aspect of The Witcher sorely lacking._Loc_N_lol_ wrote...
The witcher was acclaimed as a great RPG and your character's name, race, backstory, appearance, voice, class and weapons of choice were set in stone. It totally made sense in-universe, and you still had a lot of choice about how you apprehended different situations.
Personally, I wouldn't know, as I couldn't get past that abhorrent timing-based combat system.

ME is from a completely different development team that is based in Austin. There is no basis for your assertion.UberDuber wrote...
*Hawke has to be voiced, and no doubt Mass effect dialogs That says something completely different to what it says on screen. There is alot more reasons but I wont go into them all.
That said, I do find some of the recent trends worisome. But mostly in terms of the mechanics of the game. I find the "style" they're going for this time to be perfectly fine.

Dude, last time many ppl were complaining about: 'I hate that my char has no vice, etc.'
Now, that they are voicing him/her, every1 whining about that.
Pathetic.
Hawke will still be customizable. U just have a concrete name, U had concrete name in DAO (Cousland for example)
So stop the f***n crying, we just have very few info about DA2, its still way too early to judge it already.
I really cant stand ppl like him. Crying about everything, even if he has no idea how DAO2 will look like.
Seems to me like you are crying about ppl crying. Maybe you should stick to voicing your own opinions about the the information, and stop crying about others voicing theirs.

First of I loved Dragon age Origins. I loved the choices and everything else that came with it.

1. No more vastly different characters, like Elf Rogue or Dwarf Noble or whatever. It's masses of extra dev work that only benefits the hardcore crowd who will do more than one playthrough. That work could be better spent on content everyone can see. Just go the ME route, give us a surname for people to refer to us with, give a base character and then let us define them by the actions we take.
2. More action based combat. Seriously, DAs combat was awful. It was a lame throwback to old D and D style, and as 4th Edition has shown us, a dedicated, interesting combat system improves a game immensely. Make fighting fun!
3. Break the BioWare sacred cow of talking only in camp; it's just unrealistic. I'd rather have a ton of banter and spontaneous conversations as we play through that are relevant to where we are and what we're doing.
4. Oh god, break the mage-supremacy. If you didn't see how 3 mages and a tank was the optimal party then you crazy, and the tank is only there because you run out of mages.
5. Bring it out quickly so I can get my RPG fix damnit!

I liked the main storyline, still it was so lacking as an RPG i was unable to go further than the first village where the "witch hunt" took place

It's SWTOR that being developed by Bioware Austin, though some of the Edmonton developers moved there to work on it too. Both ME & DAO were developed by the original Edmonton branch of Bioware, although they don't share all the same developers some of them worked on both games.

you dont get it, it means they will cut alot of text and alot of options to incoporate full pc VO. or do you really think DA2 will have the same amount of texts and VO when they said that it was just too expensive for DA:O?

Voicing the main the main character is indeed going to require quite a bit of voice over work, however if they continue the trend set in awakening where your cannot speak to your companions freely, and significantly reduce their dialogue options, it will have cut back on the VO work considerably.
