I read that the hero will be from Lothering, and survived the Blight. Almost immediatly, my thoughts began to ponder if:

* Hawke might be wearing his Mother's locket found by the Warden.
* Hawke might be harboring ill will towards the Qunari, as he is the sole remaining member of his family, and witnessed their mass murder.

Any other pleasant conjecture is welcome! Posted Image

I like that possibility too, as it reminds me of the old Western: Nevada Smith w/Steve McQueen.

The first kid in Lothering that popped into my head was the kid standing right next to the bridge entrance looking for his mother. I don't think that is the same kid as the "Keepsake" mission... or maybe I'm just crazy. Though the kid at the bridge had red hair. The surviving kid idea sounds interesting though.

hmmmm unfortunately it would be a huge mistake on Biowares part if Hawke ended up being red-haired bridge boy because he was not androgynous :(

But number 2 sounds flipping awesome

It also could be the rather smart lad that translated for the Chanter; would make a fine Chantry educated Circle mage.

Oh! I never really thought about #2 but now that you mention it...yes that could work.

#2 also has the added bonus of not having been established as one particular gender.

As cool as such a tie-in would be, I have a feeling it'll just be a totally new character.

I know this was brought up in another thread but if it's not #2, maybe one of the bounty hunting men the Warden killed in Lothering could be related to Hawke? For all we know, he could be related to one of the bandits instead. These possibilities could be a reason why the writers chose Lothering than Redcliffe, Denerim, etc.

#2 might not work at all since it was stated that Sten killed the entire household. Or I may be mistaken... But my memory says they was massacred!

I did think that the kid by the bridge could be Hawke, but it shouldn't be because that would lock Hawke in as a male, which has been mentioned repeatedly as not being the case.

#1 is the most likely tie in, but I suppose all we'll get is a little scene where a Templar or someone from the Chantry hands Hawke the keepsake. Perhaps a little stat boost from the keepsake as well as a little reward for doing that quest. :D

I think one child hid beneath the corpses and escaped to tell the guards. If the child was a teenager, it could be Hawke.

If I recall correctly, the Chantry priestess mentioned the youngest child hid, but no ages were given. And what I like of this one is that there are many ways for Hawke to go into life; varied motivations.

I'd like it if the parent/s of Hawke where someone we met in Lothering.

Perhaps, but I generally do not speak to everyone there. I would prefer it if such parents were like the Elven family that were robbed; somewhat memorable and offer some further motivation of Hawke based on the events of  DAO.

As long as option number two gets us more Sten, I'm along for the ride.

well from what it says all this with Hawke is taking place the same time frame your warden is going to each race and getting the army ready for the final battle, to bad they wouldn't cross paths, would be cool to see a cut scene of your Warden in LOthering with Morrigan and the rest of your party and walk past him. That may be a way from the saved log to carry at least your wardens carbon copy over and it show your character you made talking to people in Lothering and Hawke watching you, nice.

"Keepsake" mission doesn't show on the board until you kill the bandits off, killing bandits off you have to cross the bridge first, thus interaction with the child if you didn't do it earlier.  No reason the child on the bridge can't be female hawk as well.

Chantry board kid and Sten's mishap very good possiblilites.

It has just entered my thoughts that Hawke could be the fat kid minus his/her cookies that were taken by Sten....

Hawke could also be the child of one of the refugees that attempted to collect the bounty on the Warden; somewhat conflicted perhaps.....
