Hawke could've already fled by the time the Warden went through, simply because people were already fleeing by that time.

True, like the Ash Warriors we learned of in game. In such a case, rather than having issues with the Warden and his party, Hawke may have more issues with Loghain and his cohorts if any remained alive post-Blight.

I would rather not start the game as a 12 year old.

You start out as a 12 year old that trolls the forums and after a banning, you're forced to flee to the Free Forums and change your ID to be called Kirkwall.

I would want the kid to have met the Warden before escaping.

I concur, even if it was only in passing while the party was in dialogue. Perhaps this is one of the children that Sten noticed, and launches his grumbling about Ferelden kids.

I actually think it's Duncan's kid, after a visit to the brothel there (Lothering) on a quick pass-through to the initial battle. Don't tell me Duncan was that calm, naturally. Wardens have needs, too. They said he survived Lothering.  They didn't say he was BORN yet.  Tricky BioWriters...

I'd rather lean towards saying the doomsayer in Lothering is Hawke than any kid.

But the doomsayer (and the kid at the bridge, and the kid who was with the Chanter) was male, and Hawke can be female.

The doomsayer from Lothering was a Chasind, so it can't be Hawke.

Exactly my point.
