Ok it has to be said.

HAWKE THE SLAYER!

Yeh, I went there.

Anyways I do like what they are going for here, but I really hope they do explain or at least imply what happened to Morrigan post DA:O. I wonder if you can upload your date from DA:O to DA II so the events of the firdst game will play a role in the second game.

So Bioware thinks voices > customizable races? Is bioware slowly leaving the RPG style of gaming? IS BIOWARE FAILING?

I'm sure the story would be great, they always are. But their gameplay is slowy sucking...

I assume that all those that refuses to buy DA2 and HATES Bioware for "not include elves and dwarves as main character races" also boycotted games such as the Fallout series (human only, no ghoul, super mutant or other choice for main character), Planescape: Torment (male only, human only, no name at all! And it's still Bioware's best game ever!), or the Witcher?

I dont understand all this "Im gonna wait for the reviews to see if i like it." Does no one think for them selves any more or does every just read what a few critics think of something and write it off depending on a few peoples opinions. All im sayin is if you want a game thats exactly like the one you already have play the one you already own. "Theres voice overs? This game is just like mass effect even though theres still 8 months till its release date i already know exactly how its gonna turn out." So Bioware is trying something new i say support them. If things dont exactly turn out the way you wanted oh well shrug it off and move on. Play it make your own decision dont let others tell you what games you should play and games you shouldnt. How much is it really gonna cost you 50 - 60 dollars to try something new. If you dont like it return it. Most game stores have a 30 day return policy. And if not whats 50 - 60 dollars in the long run.

Don't be haters... And stop throwing stones before the game is acturally out... Myabe you'll even come to love it! I know it sounds epic to me... The fact that you can't choose race... Whatever... It's a MINOR thing I can live with. And a voiced over charakter... I wished they coul have made that in NWN2 cause THAT game was dead...

i may be wrong but i havent yet heard anyone say they're waiting for a review, the whiners are writing it of now (only to return with their tails between their legs when they see how much fun we're having) and most other people are waiting just for more information to base an opinion off...im pretty sure most people here aren't stupid enough to base their opinions on reviews.

Hmmm, this worries me.

Bioware has always been about great storytelling that involves a world (or country) threatening plot. No ancient evil or blight? I have to wonder if the story won't be compelling for once.

If this is written well, one of the consequences of you fighting your way to power is that you create your own enemies.

I would like to know this, should this site keep making mods and dedicate itself to DA1 (can't believe am already saying DA1) and will all my stuff from DA1 be transferable. It seems that bioware are really pushing to get titles up on the shelves and people will buy anything regardless. All loyalties are lost when games are made. I for one am curious to see what comes from this, but am highly dissapointed that DA1 has not had the chance to be refined into a 'classic' game. A game much loved by its fans. Already, the diehard fans have been short changed, and I haven't even completed Awakening yet, because I like my stories to be prolonged.

I am sure what ever we think or try to predict what DA2 is about, I can assure you, that this game will push aside DA1 like an old sack, and DA1 will be forgotten. Lately, so many lovely mods have been made, and its sad that bioware aren't trying to revive was is lost. But prefer to just make a new titled game with an staying theme. What bioware should have done, is release DLC that slowly expands the world of Dragon Age, to becoming the ultimate hero in Fererald history. That way, our characters gone increase in level gain lots of lovely skills, and quest in new and exotic lands, so our characters really becoming something of handwork. And finally, making a multiplayer option for completed characters.

Not sure what you are getting at; the fact that DA:O and DA:2 are about two different characters would actually help keeping DA:O alive, unlike say Baldur's Gate / Baldur's Gate II, where extremely few people went back to BG after BGII came out.

Also... This site does not do mods?

Mass Effect felt like i was watching it.
Dragon Age felt like i was living it.

Ruin our fantasy Bioware.

Im not buying this. I expected so much from Dragon age 2 and for it all to be took away. Jerks

Well,
If u are judging DA2, already with that very few information we have, i guess u must be the jerk not BioWare.
They just improving the game, not ruining it.
Whats wrong with u ppl?

Oh yeah improving the game? By taking away are choices. So we can have some cheesy voice and a cheesy name called Hawke. I dont want to play there fantasy RPG. No wait we arnt even sure if its a rpg anymore are we?

And yes I am judging DA2 already because I hat everything about it so far even the leaked screen shots look terrible.

WHAT? Are u serious? Taking your choices? What kinda choices?
leaked screenshot? u mean the 1 in a thread? yeah sure they'll make the graphics looks horrible, taking away your choices and doesnt even make it RPG style?
Do u really think that the game will looking like that? U must to be kidding me...
Sure thing dude, whatever u say.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angry.png[/smilie]
And back to the name thing: Hawke, its kinda cool name. Could be lot worse. So if u r not going to buy this game, ur loss then.

I dunno what to say, this guy just makes no sense at all.

DA2 looks interesting so i will get the game from what i know so far.

Maybe Bioware can create a DLC for DA:O for Lothering, so we can see it destroyed with a few people escaping, Hawke could be one of the people in the group.

I'm curious to see where state and level development will go, has anyone seen anything at all about this. Namely the ability to pick locks when you're not a rogue? E.g, more open level development?

I have my doubts, but I feel that about every Bioware project and they never disappoint me. So, I've got faith that Bioware will deliver in spades.

I was really excited when i saw DA2, but now im not so sure. Bioware makes amazing games, but DA was so special because of the customization of it all. Plus you got attached to all the characters and I feel they are throwing away some of the magic of DA for a Mass Effect-esque experience. I want to be excited but i have serious doubts now. The customization of Hawke better be pretty deep, none of that 7 hairstyles and 5 preset faces crap like ME!! Give me some freedom!! Dont ruin my favorite game Bioware. Im giving you the benefit of the doubt

So much for playing as a Qunari as well as dwarves, elves and etc. Not a big deal, I guess, considering how big a role the chantry played in Origins and how dominant the humans were. I felt out of place playing as a dwarf or elf, but still liked mixing it up for multiple playthroughs. It was always nice playing as a different race/origin and npcs noticed whether you were a dwarf, elf or human.

More than anything else, I just hope that DA2 is less buggy and that patches don't take quite so long to come out. I will be putting DA2 off for a while until I see how stable the game is. Hopefully, along with having one origin and a voiced character, the game isn't made shorter or offer less room for customization.

I'm actually quite happy that he ran... If Hawker is going to have some kind of pre-set personality, i want it to be a sensible one, not wishy washy "Let's save the world!" one.

Why would he have fought the Blight? Plenty of jobs elsewhere.

abandoning your home and a chantry full of women and children is sensible? sounds more like cowardice. i don't want to play a coward.

That's probably why you can't play a dwarf.  But I don't see why it precludes you from being an elf.  They seem capable of pretty hard core cowardice as well, and there was that elven family in lothering that got hit by the brigands that you later killed.

The human-only restriction is pure laziness so they don't have to fully voice 6 race/gender combinations or do the multiple origin stories or reference your race/background later in the game (like killing Vaughn in the city elf origin affects the game later on).  If they must fully voice the PC (I wish they wouldn't), then I'd much rather have choice of race and deal with a single generic male and single female voice that is used for all 3 races than be stuck with a human.

The origin stories were literally the best part of the game.  Every one of them was top notch.  They made you identify with your chosen character and affected the game in little ways that made multiple replays a viable and fun option.

The more similiar to a real rpg the better is the crpg... DA2 doesn't seem like an rpg at all...
This is what we want to see:

As much as I love RPGs, I really don't have a problem with the removal of race selection, etc. I have faith in Bioware and can't wait to get my hands on this game. I know it'll be great.

1. I really dislike having my role playing character voiced. The voice should be mine--or what I hear in my head (and not forced on me). I still don't enjoy having Shepard's voice forced on me in ME.

Why not give us the option to disable Hawke's voice completely, Bioware?

2. Not a big fan of having someone's name forced on me. Didn't like that in ME (nor in Alpha Protocol).

3. Not a big fan of being forced to play human in a fantasy setting.

Forcing decisions upon players is not reflective of freedom.

The fact of the matter is that the
fantasy RPG crowd won't run out and pick it up. They would have, if it
followed the same formula as Origins, but because of the significant
changes to dialogue, character selection, customisation and storyline
interaction, most are in fact likely to wait for the reviews to come in,
and shed light on whether these changes have been made for the better.
