There is apparently a widely held notion that if a story involves a female protagonist, then the story is specifically for girls/women (and therefore men won't buy it).abadomen wrote...
On a serious note,
I think this won't change till more women get into the medium.
My g/f loves DA and ME...and does get a little pissed when they always talk about Shepard...and probably will with HAWKE...but they are wanting the majority audience.
Also funny how both names sound masculine...those I suppose that's because our society associates masculinity with those two icons...a Hawk and a Shepard.
I have one year left of college and wish I had time to take a gender studies course...
Hmmm...perhaps, but then you have games like Bayonetta and Laura Croft....though they are poor examples...seeing as they appeal to the nether regions of ales rather than anything else.
Then you have games like Beyond Good and Evil which, while not financially successful was critically acclaimed....
I think it may also be the FPS crowd these days....Though Gears of War 3 is advertising a female supporting character....not sure what her role is...

Well yeah...if a story with a female protagonist sells well with men (not only games--I really mean any kind of story), odds are it was meant to be titillating. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that, but I think you see my point...

Or do you also hold that you should speak your mind on things without then engaging in any further discussion on the matter?
Uh, no?

I asked this in an earlier post, so pardon my redundancy, but do we even know that they bearded man on the cover art is Hawke?
Pretty sure it is. You'll find that the fem version has the claws as well.

can't we create our own characters in DA2?
You can apparantly customize your own character but they are going to be either a Human male or Human female

Why does his right hand have claws? Could this be something related to the survival of the blight? half ghoul & half human? Or is he a ghoul that has kept his sanity? Does this make him better than the wardens?
its just a part of the armor he's wearing i think

TBQH, they could do a 180 and decide to make this game like the first DA again (unhappy as that would make me) but so long as there is a New Game Plus feature this time around, I'd still go ahead and buy it lol.

I don't get it. Other than DAO non of the Bioware games had more than one origin. So were those games adventure games as well?skyde wrote...
I liked Mass Effect and Dragon Age but I am not sure how I feel about this new "no choice in char creation" part... that sort of moves DA2 out of the roleplaying game genre and closer to adventure game genre. Sad about that.

EDIT** No they are NOT catering to consoles. How so? I don't see how they are. They are making a game, no problem, battle system will prolly be same way, the PC version will have: Better interface, better data transfer rate, and NO LAG like the glitched laggy console versions. Sorry, but true fact.
