While there is still no update on the GI dragonage2 hub, I found some information on a German website, about the main characters in the game which you may already know.

1. Hawke has a sister. Bethany is her name. She is a mage and supports Hawk with fire spells.
2. Cassandra. An inquisitor probably related to the chantry. She has a burring interest in Hawks achievements.
3. Varric the dwarf. He will become one of your (temporary) companions, while later on he will step into the role of a storyteller.

Way to sell out to the consoles Bioware.

You're off the buy list.

what a childish over reaction , can you link to an official bioware source of things they are spoiling ?, official bioware links only , dont want some quote from some angry forum poster making up things to get angry about.  They have barely realesed any facts about the game , which one of those things got you angry?

whats wrong with the silent hero? look at link in zelda never talked but is one of the greats and still releasing zelda games, dragon age origins hes mute and its the best rpg of 2009

yup... if its not broken dont fix it Image IPB

I think DA:O was a great game in spite of the silent hero, not because of it.  I see a fully voiced PC as a significant improvement.

on the other hand means shorter game, creating a game with fully voiced charachter in 50-60 hours gameplay and thousands of dialouges, it seems impossible. :o

I knew Hawke was from Lothering! Don't think the boy on the bridge is Hawke, though... it wouldn't make sense if the player makes Hawke female.
Interesting that he/she will be fully voiced... I'm sure a lot of people won't like that change, but since Hawke's background is more defined than the Warden's, I think it's a good choice. Wouldn't hurt if Jennifer Hale did the female voice. (Sometimes I reload and play conversations again in ME just to marvel at how cool the VO is.)
The rest isn't really a surprise. We already know Hawke is human, and the rest was already suggested by the press release/website. I'm intrigued by the clearer statement that "Dragon Age II is not about killing an ancient evil or about quelling another blight; Hawke is the driving force behind the narrative." Good to know this won't be a retread, but what sort of challenges will Hawke face, I wonder?

Sounds like "Hawke" is the Dragon Age version of ME2's Shepard.     I don't think I like this change. I certainly don't like the dialogue wheel thing in Me, and it sounds like DA 2 will be a carbon copy of the space game, only..DA flavoured.

I like to make my own characters,  I usually avoid games where the main character is voiced and already given a name.     Roleplaying for me..has more freedom than that,   I suggest that budget cut-backs have alot to do with this, and that  being that ME2 evidently (not positive about this) sold more product than Dragon Age this is where we are headed.

Also like to point out that I have had a sense something like this was going to happen.   Tell me, is Dragon Age 2 going to be anime?    I see the artwork and immediately think....that this "fad" has been injected into the sequel.

The other thing I suspected was that somehow or other, the ending for the Warden and particularly Morrigan and her Old God child, would be neatly side-stepped,  in otherwords ..a possible "blink of the eye" honourable mention and then onto Dragon Age II.

Hence why we are getting the companion based dlc .....

Here's a comment at Game Informer I wanted to quote:

So... Mass Dragon Age Effect II?
  - end quote

As soon as I read the blurb about Hawke, that was my first impression as well.

If so, then thats really not where I anticipated this franchise going at all.

/shrug   You've been losing my interest for some time now,  I think that just put the cap on it.

Sorry Bioware.

How'd you come up with that comment?  You're the first person I've seen to suggest that DA2 will just be Mass Effect with swords.

Hawke is the PC's last name.  The PCs in DA:O all had set last names, too.

I have asked a ton of people this already on these board but... lolwut??? Seriously, there is NOTHING in the description of the game that indicates that it is a ME clone.

As for your other points:

1. You can make your own character. Actually, you HAVE to make your own character
2. So you never played Dragon Age: Origins? I mean since you don't play games where you can't pick the name of the character and you couldn't do that in DA:O?

Read again what they say....lol

QUOTE:     1. Hawke will be a voiced character.
Unlike Dragon Age: Origins, the player's character in Dragon Age II will be fully voiced. This opens the door for a more cinematic approach to dialogue and creates an identity for the character outside of the text you see on-screen.   - end QUOTE

It creates an identity for the character......so substitute Shepard's name.....its the very same format.   Assembly line main character.     Created for you,  nothing distinct or different about this character.   I certainly wouldn't be able to relate to them,  I couldn't relate to Shepard the whole time I played her.      She was neatly packaged, ready to play,  I prefer creating my own, not having it done for me.

I played through part of ME 1,  didn't like it...put it down after the first few missions.      And never went back.

Then you haven't been paying much attention.  A lot of people, myself included, believe Bioware's recent trend of eschewing character development and RPG staples in favor of "sin-o-matic akshun" and "streamlined" game mechanics mean it's pretty inevitable that it'll end up being ME2 with swords.

I accept your point-of-view. I just don't want to pay out $50 to $70 to only get to play the game through a couple of times,  as a male or female, warrior or rogue.

You keep forgetting about the mage.

Okay..just for your education, I have been playing Dragon Age since Nov 3rd 2009.    I have currently made 23 characters, most of whom are level 35ish.....

ALL of them have different names,,..none of those names include,  Shepard or Hawke. :P

But ..be that as it may,  my view is that Origins was the best part of Dragon Age, and I'll replay what I currently have,  they certainly won't get my dollars for the sequel.

Thats the way the cookie bounces.

...So you never noticed that you can't pick your surname? Just as in DA2. There is NO DIFFERENCE between the two games in that regard.

You people know that Hawke is the surname, not his name. That NPCs in game will probably reffer to you as Hawke, like they called you Warden in DA:O no matter if you named your Character John, Zandor or whatever, right?

No doubt Bioware and Electronic Arts are aware that they may very well lose some PC customers coming out with an ME clone with swords. No doubt they are counting on more customers with XBOXES and the like. Perhaps it is a more lucrative market share. Almost everyone has and XBOX or PS2, or whatever. When I talk with people who have them and when they find out that I play PC version games they look at me strangely: As if to ask, "Are you out of touch?" Many of them ask me "why I don't get one?" And, I respond, "because I have a PC."

I agree that the main character needs voicing, I always felt that the real story was about Alistair in DA:O, and you were just some, silent bodyguard that stood around and killed archdemons.

No it doesn't.

So of course you know the Mass Effect series well enough to be able to say whether or not a recently announced game is exactly like it.

(That was sarcasm too, just so you know.)

Yes...and thats how they refer to Shepard in ME,  thats where the similarities come in, then of course I am positive the same dialogue wheel will be used.    The fact that you can only choose human.

Masseffectified.

voicing does make the game better, and in my opinion more immersive, contrary to what most say
if you can actually talk, rather than being silent, then you feel more important than some silent stony faced character

I agree 100%. I felt like my character was just a side character. It felt like it was way more about Alistair the whole time. It was really creepy during conversations to have him making all these great, witty comments making me laugh, or having Wynn giving all this insightful guidance, and then it shows my characters face just staring blankly and zombie like for a response...
