Rock on. World needs more bearded heroes. *smooths his beard*

On more serious note; I can't wait to see how this approach works. I have to admit that I am not that keen on DA becoming more like Mass Effect... but that's because I thought DA was a better game than ME2 and I fear they will turn DA2 another Mass Effect.

Of course, this is not necessarily the case.

So the game has VO, and you don't have as much customization over your character. It doesn't matter. That approach could be made work very well while still retaining the feel original DA had. I have faith in this game.

So much speculation.... so little fact... I find it amusing that there is so much complaining about.. well, not much really to go on here... I guess their complaining is about their assumptionsImage IPB

I think it is because there is indication within that asinine blurb that DA2 is going to be a lot like ME & ME2 and that has people riled. And, quite frankly it has me riled too. Moreover, there those of us who like playing traditional RPG games, not predetermined cinematic cartoons. Apparently that what you get on consoles these days?!?

couldn't this guy be like, your character's and morrigan's "magical" or powerful or watever son, you know, after morrigan slept with you before the last mission? i mean, tat would've been so much cooler.

Yes, because every Warden PC was male and chose to sleep with Morrigan.  And of course, her child will definitely turn out to be a BOY!

No so with my characters. I played women mostly and because I disliked Alistair, some of my female characters  romanced LeLiana instead. Although, I do admit to having romanced Morrigan and Leliana both when I played a male character: and, only once did I sleep with Morrigan on the night before the onslaught.

I said this before and I will say it again: "I think Bioware was remiss in giving us so little information about DA2." All that it has accomplished is fear and distrust in Bioware. If I were them I would hurry up and release additional information ASAP. Perhaps it will stop all this doomsday scenarios and bickering between the different style of gamers.

(Like me I am old school and like RPG games only if the storyline is absolutely excellent and the gameplay is what I am used to. However, I also enjoy "some" single-shooter games. However, I prefer not to play subscribed multiplayer games. To me it is a waste of money. Besides, I have enough expenses already, on my limited income.)

That's unlikely.  I've posted on BioWare forums for a long time, and information is always released slowly.  No matter what information gets released, usually all it does it raise more questions.

When I heard that Dragon Age II was coming out, I wasn't surprised, so much as excited. (Due to the little hint included in the DA:O Awakening box.) But now that I've taken a first look at where the project is going, I have to say that I am quite dissapointed. I was willing to accept the fact that Bioware was taking a new story approach with a named hero.

Who was to say that the plot couldn't be just as interesting from an exclusively Human standpoint? They could have had a specific aim. DA:O was about all of the races and various factions being more equal than society would admit, and centered around relative greatness, and equality. Perhaps that's not what they were shooting for in a sequel.

Unfortunately, the dissapointment set in when I discovered that Hawke will be having full VO work. While I know many many people like the fact that Shepherd speaks in Mass Effect, it makes me feel disconnected. It doesn't feel like it's telling the story I'm influencing. For all intents and purposes, I may as well watch someone else play the game. >.>

The concept of the story doesn't thrill me as of yet, but there's still much to be revealed as far as the game's true scope. The VO for the main character has made me a little wary, however. Regardless, if anyone can pull off a great story, it'd be Bioware, so I may yet be surprised.

I can't lie. There were numerous amounts of time while playing DA:O that i wondered what it would be like if the game's graphics were on par with mass effects. I also wondered what it be like if it had the conversation wheel and a more cinematic feel. I am excited about this new direction bioware is taking. I enjoyed DA:O, and i'll always have respect for the gameplay it offered; but this satisfies my curiousty. I was worried until i read the game informer article and it stated that your Hawkes' looks are indeed customizable. Cant wait to hear more about this.

That's to bad! But, pehaps you are correct. I will finish my characters that I am currently playing in DA:O and go on to another game all together. Perhaps I will reinstall. X3 Terran Conflict and play that one again?

Wow, enormously disappointed. Bioware, couldn't you just leave the mass effect formula where it belongs?? In the Mass Effect franchise? My excitement for DA2 just took a huge niose dive.

I also hope they get REAL Brits to do the British accents for humans this time. Some people had a serious case of Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping in the first game. Even as few voice sets as there were, it was very noticeable for me. Some people can do very well, but a real British actor can just focus on the acting instead of worrying about acting AND sounding authentically British.

Oh so you mean REAL Brits like Robin Sachs who was Lord Harrowmont and Murdock, Tim Curry who was of course Rendon Howe, Simon Templeman who was of course Loghain, Greg Ellis who was Cullen and numerous other characters, Graham McTavish who was Arl Eamon and numerous characters, Natasha Little who as Nan from the Human Origins part?

Oh and of course, lets not forget Alistair... Steve Valentine

Do I actually need to go through the whole list of REAL Brits who were VAs in DAO (Matthew Ashforde aka Ser Gilmore being another for example), or have I made my point that you seem to be accusing REAL Brits of not being able to do their own accents?

hmm I thought they were busy working on ME3 already.. and DA:O outsold ME2, so why on earth change the style into a game that sold less sigh..

Its a big hit for me to only be able to pick one race (one origin too) taking away from the great feats and simplifying them does not seem like improving a game to me.

Can't wait! DA2 will be cool!!!11 I hope they come out with a expansion to tie up Morrigan loose ends or an expansion that opens up new questions about Morrigan et al. that paves a sweet narrative way for DA2! Woot!

The whole point of Dragon Age was the different Origin Stories. I can't believe Bioware are forcing us to play Hawke. I liked the experience of seeing your character's background and the different ways they became Grey Wardens, but I am definitely gonna buy DA2, if only out of loyalty.

I do like a new direction, DA:O, although awesome, went with a rather conservative approach: collect allies and companions to kill the big evil...
Can't deny that I'm a bit disappointed about not continuing the story for the warden-commander of Ferelden however.

Excited to hear this game will span 10 years as well, that allows for a lot of character development in the main char, which did lack a bit in DA:O imo.

No. The whole point of Dragon Age:Origins was the different Origin Stories. This is something different with a new subtitle.

Actually, BioWare, at least since what we heard from the news, is not forcing us to play no one.
Hawke is just a name already given, but his/her thoughts, his/her opinions, his/her looks are up to the player.
He/She is our avatar, not a defined character like Geralt from The Witcher, who instead, despite giving some choices to the players, has his own view of the world (he's atheist, he hates politics, hypocrites, fanatics, etc).

Anyway, I like the introduction of the origins, and it would be nice to see them returning in some future game, but I don't expect them to be present in every game.
With this design choice of limiting races and origins options, we could have a more personal and a deeper story, and I like the thing of the main plot being focused on my character and shaped over a decade.

As I said earlier, I just don't like the dialogue wheel and prefer the traditional system, and honestly I don't see problems in read a sentence and then hear it the same from the voice. I wasn't annoyed by this in The Witcher, to re-quote the CD Projekt game.
In the case I find the new dialogue system annoying, rather than just worse of the DAO's one, I'll just hope the community will make a mod to show full sentences my char gonna say. I would prefer BioWare displayed them already in the first version of the game, but that's a bonus of pc gaming, I guess.

Well...it sounds really good....I just hope...well THEY FIX EVERY GOD DAMN BUG IN THE CONSOLE GAMES!!! ok now thats gone i can be calm. I hope that the game play is more like KOTOR or something where you have a bigger attack choice. I keep both games cause I remember when i got rid of KOTOR 2...it became impossible to find...so I will get it.

Well, we know that the first part of the game takes place around Lothering during the blight, so it makes sense to have darkspawn at that point. Even after the blight is ended, they still occupy the deep roads and all, and since the GI article hints that there will be some dwarven ruin exploration at some point, darkspawn opponents make sense. I personally don't think they'll take too much of the stage in this game, but they are an important part of the universe, they can't just ditch them altogether.
