well done BioWare you have successfully RUINED ANOTHER GREAT GAME SERIES by changing main hero and putting out all-favourites like Leliana

Honestly, i don't think Leiliana was that a good companion. I would love to see some more of Morrigan, but i also love that they give a fresh feel to it. Different country you are in, different setting etc, different companions.

I simply don't understand why GameInformer is telling me about DA2 instead of Bioware. And most they write is simply advertising their issue. The same 'bug' appears on the official website where the link takes me away from Bioware's website instead of opening in a new tab / window.

I disagree.
If they are going to ruin the game (possible, but it's too early to say) is for other reasons, not because of the change of character and companions.
Besides, I think we'll see some of them returning for a cameo.

Anyway, I'm not so sure with the ones above me who say that Hawke will be the character' surname.
It can work in a military context like the Alliance in ME, but not so much in a fantasy setting where actually most of the characters are known for their first name or at least nicknames.
Besides, we also have a sister as a companion, so she should have our same surname, and it would work even worse to be called by the character's family name with her presence.
This is what I think and also what I hope, because I wouldn't like to be called by surname by every characters of the game.

Yesterday, I mentioned that I pre-ordered for DA 2, but what I forgot to mention was that according to the pre-order printout  the PC version of the game is as follows:

Product SKU: 70784
Product Name: Dragon Age 2 (Pre-Ordered)
Anticipated Released Date: December 31, 2011
Qty Ordered: 1
Amount: $49.95

If they are saying March 2011, that must mean for the console version?!?

Just sprinkle some Andraste's ashes over a high lord, and you'll become a champion.

Oh, and before you do, make sure he's really sick and no other cure worked. Else there is the chance that you will be thrown in the dungeon instead, no high lord likes ashes sprinkled on them, hurts the eyes.

My only fear from the article is that the game's length might be shorter than DA:O. Maybe I was slow, but DO:A took me a good 70 hours. The Mass Effect games were over in about 30-40 each.

Also, the GI article made the game sound a bit linear, with the whole framed narrative that they're using. But, that concern is probably unfounded. I mean, Bioware did publicly trash FF13 for it's almsot literally linear game play (run down hall, fight, hallway, fight, hallway, fight, cutscene, fight, hallway, cutscene, etc...), so I can't imagine they would wind up going down that route as well.

'Dragon Age 2 progresses the epic saga, as you take on the role of Hawke,
a survivor of the Blight and the hero who will change the world
forever
.'

'Change the world forever' isn't really a wise choice of phrasing.

Turn it into frozen hell, volcanic desert or into a tropical paradise
where friendly folks serve implanadas, pina coladas & maracuja
icecream for free, either based on Hawkre's choices?
Good luck with, given that example, maintaining 4 different
gameworlds - including going for political changes without
reshaping the world and the 3 nentioned alternates.

I go for sticking with the 'just political changes' scenario and
granting the tropical paradise to the devs as their private holiday
resort../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png

The more read the article the less I like it. I seems like it will short as the ME games. It took me 67hrs to beat DA:O in enjoy it. I might buy the pc version as the gameplay on console sounds like it will be somewhat like fable2 was or maybe dynasties warriors. It also said something about fewer talents but defined( ME2). Plus with a sister that means I get make hawke a black guy.

Bioware like Blizzard has never let me down. Been a big fan ever since Knights of The Old Republic and Im sure DA2 is gonna have a deep story, complex characters, and an immersive world. Considering that the main character will be fully voiced AND the graphics will be enhanced... I feel like that more then makes up for the fact that you cannot play a Dwarf or Elf. Not to mention they allegedly worked on the combat system which should mean more in your face action which is always a triple plus in my book. Gonna be classic I put my money on it.

I doubt it, honestly.
I hope in the third game we get another story in another parts of Thedas and with other characters, anyway. I'd like to see Orlais or Tevinter, for example.
But it's a bit earlier to speak of a Dragon Age 3. :P

i agree with you they got rid of what was great to make a medievil mass effect, 2 months ago i would of bought dragonage 2 no matter what but now i wouldnt waste a cent on it, whats to stop them from making a dragon age 3 from a reveared mothers point of view? she even had more to do with origins than this Hawke guy. and not finshing the warden off just pi++d me off.

what else is this is demotion I had power no i have nothing, who the heck would like being a General 1 moment then being a recruit the next? ansewer no one

No they did ruin what could have made them alot of cash, people that already loved these charcters from DAO would of pre orderd it fast, was a great story, we can set here untill the end of days saying one way or the other...but point of fact is they had a great story and they blew it up for Hawke and I for one will never trust Bioware again, ever and I really could care less what you idots that want to call use whine bags think. so blahh to you.
