Ha! Would be funny if it were the runt from the bridge. I told him his mom was dead.

Personally, I like that they're doing something new with the gameplay, but I'm rather pissed that they just let the Warden go like that. If they were to give us another character, it should have been Morrigan's child.

It's worse, considering that all this time Bioware's been building up the Warden's story, and then yanks the rug out from under your feet when they essentially say. "Ok, Warden time's over, play this guy instead!"

Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see. But for now, I have the overwhelming urge to knife Brother Genitivi for some reason.

I heard on Facepunch that all dialogue choices will be that "indirect" crap like in Awakenings, any truth to that?

I died a little inside, indeed.

Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I enjoyed both Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect. People who complain about your character not being voice; honestly, I don't get it.

Do you require the characters of a book to be voiced in order to feel their emotions? Are you unable to form connections with those characters because you lack the ability to visualize and hear them without some sort of external stimulant? If so, I honestly feel sorry for you.

I will always support a mute main character? Why? Because when I play that character they can be as snarky, sarcastic, noble, brutish, innocent, or anyting else as I want. I heard my character's voice in my head when I choose her dialogue. The witty banter between her an Alistair never got old. And yet, when push came to shove she could bark out orders in a stern, commanding voice fit for a warrior. She could be flirtatious and seductive in the affairs of the heart.

As I said, I enjoyed both Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect. They are two of my favourite games, right up there with Baldur's Gate and KotOR. I susspect I will enjoy Dragon Age II about as much as I enjoyed Mass Effect II: about a tenth of the original.

I love my Commander Shepard. And while she is my Shepard, she's not my character.
I love my Ta'Sharra Cousland. She is my Cousland, and she is my character.

You know, I always feel a little baffled when reading the deragotory comments of an aritcle stating that a game will be inproved upon it's original successes. Especially a title in the same caiber as the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series. I love them both. ME1 & 2 was phenomenal, and while the character was voiced, you could still create the face from the ground up as well as his/her personality. This was the same for Dragon Age, along with race.

Now getting to the article, (1) the character is voiced, that's phenomenal! To me, casting a voice actor/actress to a WRPG role gives the character a bit more life than they had before. Honestly, there were some awkward times in DA when you expected the character to talk rather than just stand there and stare at another NPC.

(2) Okay so Hawke is now human. Yes they are taking away two races and possible opening sequences that we could have experienced, but hey, who's to say that there won't be the option for other opening sequences. From a personal standppoint, I wasn't really a fan of the Dwarven race. The Elves really didn't do it for me either. But their backstories were definitely interesting, no matter which background you chose.

(3) Hawke flees. Okay, we don't really know how old he was at the time. For all we know he could have been a pre-teen or early teen that wasn't yet capable of fending for himself or his family which has not been mentioned. In order to survive 'The Blight' and live to fight another day it only makes sense for a young, unarmed, and unexperienced boy to flee north, away from the danger.

(4) Kirkwall. Well, nothing much can be said about this place because we honestly have no idea what it looks like. Same goes for its history of champions. However, I'm very excited to see how we will shape the story ourselves. *SPOILERS* I remember in my first playthrough letting Alistair take the fall in defeating the Archdemon because he was so eager to do so, yet in the ending cinematics and litarature it mentioned that he and Anora went on to becomea great king and queen. Anora also states that she needs to go tend to him. I hope Bioware fixed these glitches.

and (5) Hawke drives the story, this just works off of point number four. As I stated earlier, I honestly hope they fix little glitches like explaining how a character goes on with his life when he is actually dead from the battle with the Archdemon.

To me it looks as if this title is shaping up quite nicely given the very small details that were exposed to. To completely demolish it at this point in time is not only disrespectful to Bioware but also shows pure ignorance for all that they have done in the WRPG genre.

Did anyone read the full article? They are changing more than the origins and added a voice to main character. I know I am not the only one but while playing mass effect, did ever make a renegade decision and feel that your paragon allies should betray you? That is what I love about dragon age. If you ruined the andraste ashes with the dragons blood or sided with the Templars lelianna and wynne would attack you or if your disapproval rate was to low that would leave you. It's all going to be gone. We will must likely have fewer spells and talents not mention a shorter game that why it will have a NG+. Those things concern me the most.

this is just a rush job, creating a new character is a lazy way of saying we cant be bothered to work out your world, so here take a new character forget about everything you have done, warden survives o well it dont matter, even put you in a brand new place so they dont have to show the out come of the choices you made. yes they say you import your choices but why the heck would that matter if we go to kirkwall places we dont give a rats a+ss about with a guy we couldnt give a dam who lives or dies.

why do I have to wait they have said what has changed and I dont like it, change to combat when i liked the combat, talking, I like mute heroes such as link from zelda. Everything which they think is a improvement is opposite to that in my eyes, and I can imagine the countless bugs that will be there, they havent even fixed origins so how could they possibly perfected DA2?

I'm very 50/50 on the whole idea, on the one hand i find myself intrigued by the concept in the way that it could make you more close to the charecter, much like Mass Effect, but on the other hand disappointed they have taken away such a big part of the previous game, the origins of the diffrent races, i guess i was hoping if they did decide to go down this path they would provide voice overs for all the races though diffrent depending on their race and gender, though true that would be more timley and costly not to mention it would risk drawing the attention away from what they are hoping to achieve with Hawke.

Honesty though i am more excited about the idea rather than disapointed, if Bioware does it right it could become a very good game, though its far too early to start slandering it off before weve heard more of the story and what its all about, everyone just needs to go play some Dragon Age and look at the layout of the game and try and see where they are comming from in changing how the title works, for now i am going to be very intrested to see what they release about the game as the weeks and months drag on.

One I doubt it was the kid as you can get him killed, pretty sure i saw his corpse in place of his mother in one of my playthroughs anyway. And also this sounds pretty awesome, however I only really liked playing as a human so the race thing dosnt bother me.

I fully expect the game to be enjoyable as long as it does not take the role of feeling like your in the movies, Mass Effect felt like and it was awesome. But I just don't think a movie feel would work for dragon age.

I already lost care for my warden kinda could guess it was curtains for her in awakening so tata Klaire Cousland and long live Klaire Hawke \\o/.

I feel sorry for those who don't understand the difference between a book and a video game.

They actually and clearly say it's the surname and not the name or nickname?
Could you please link where they said so?

I would hate it, if true.

Well...in planescape: Torment you were given a pre-made character. Perhaps Bioware is simply trying to relive that experience. Planescape was, after all, just as amazing a game as Baldur's Gate. I'm wiating to play the game before I pass judgment.
