Well, the Warden can choose to kill the Architect in said expansion. It's possible that didn't end his career (much like Flemeth), but he is not necessarily still alive.

They actually and clearly say it's the surname and not the name or nickname?
Yes.
Could you please link where they said so?
Can't find a link at the moment, but I've been hanging around here pretty much since the game's been announced. Maybe someone else can get a link--if not, you'll eventually find that what I said was true.

Get it??? Hawke... IS THE BRIDGE.... to DA2.
Yes, I will sign your breasts.
I just busted out laughing out loud and my girlfriend is asleep. I then felt a little awkward about it.

Well, actually Hawke sounds more like a surname than a name, but I don't like it.Riona45 wrote...

I mean, it's a minor problem and not one that can make me dislike the game (it's a small issue, not like big problems in gameplay or in the story), but it's not so nice to me being called by surname by everyone in the game, especially in a fantasy game where almost everyone is known by his/her name (such as Loghain, Alistair, Flemeth...).
I suppose they will give us the option to give a name to our character like in ME, but who cares of giving a name to my pc that no one in the game will ever use?
If they want to set us a given surname, they could also give us a name, like Obsidian did in Alpha Protocol; at least we'd avoid being called by surname or in a formal way even by your very best friends or by your lover.
And in Dragon Age 2 you also have a sister, who is supposed to have your same family name, so calling my char by surname in her presence is even more nonsense.
I repeat, it's not really a game problem (as I said game problems are others: a bad storyline or gameplay...), but I hate it.

perhaps DA2 will set the story for Dragon age 3 perhaps we will get 2 main characters in Dragon age 3 warden and Hawke,
I hope in the third game we get another story in another parts of Thedas and with other characters, anyway. I'd like to see Orlais or Tevinter, for example.
But it's a bit earlier to speak of a Dragon Age 3.
I was thinking along the lines of Stefanocrpg, DAO, while focused on Ferelden, gave us an introduction into Thedas, through the eyes of the Grey Wardens. DA2 shows us yet another part of Thedas through another point of view. The background material in the various Codexes is rich, reaching far beyond Ferelden, and lends itself to many more possibilities, more poltical intrigue, perhaps down the road (and serveral DA games later:D) an epic battle as theTevinter Imperium again tries to conquer Thedas.
IMHO - DAO is just the tip of the iceberg.

Mass Effect felt like i was watching it.
Dragon Age felt like i was living it.
Ruin our fantasy Bioware.
Im not buying this. I expected so much from Dragon age 2 and for it all to be took away. Jerks
weird. opposite for me. although some of the characters drew me in such as morrigan, alistair, etc. i never felt like i was living it. mass effect for me got really personal. decisions become very important not just hmm i wonder what will happen if i do this.. dragon age is almost at the level. one thing it has on mass effect is a lot more dialogue with your companions.

now I hear it is something completely different. A mass effect clone by the sounds of it. I am dissapointed to say the least.
I thought the awakening was a bridge between DA 1 and 2.
we were supposed to see how the darkspawn develop in the storyline?
will have to wait for the trailer on the 16th aug to see what they are doing.
fingers crossed, it blows my mind like DA 1 did.

I just gotta ask them, why would you mess with a winning formula?
Maybe the devs didn't think it was completely "winning" and thought things could be improved upon. That's how progress happens.

I have read so much on the web about DA 2 and how it was supposed to be set 65 years after the blight. how some of the original NPCs were going to make an appearence, I was hoping that Morrigan would be in it with her grown up child.
Are you talking about stuff the devs said, or just what speculating fans said?

Is this some game that was in the works by another developer that Bioware just bought and rebranded? I recall Konami tried that in their Castlevania series. They needed a sequel, fast, and they bought and rebranded some one elses game to match the series. Thus was "Simon's Quest". Is this what is happening now, with Dragon Age?

Why even bother calling it "Dragon Age".
Because it takes place during the Dragon Age of Thedas, just like the first game did?

I can understand where you are at, yea, it sucks. when I played DAA and at my end, I left the Warden base and left as Commander of the Warden's to go look for Morrigan, thats what it said.
So in this game you have Hawke and he meets Flemeth, So Flemith gets a new body and lures Hawke in for reasons unknow to help her find Morrigan and the godbaby, thus his rise to power.....with help of Flemeth, so he has to do her a favor and find the Godbaby,
Well you also have the Warden looking for the Morrigan and the baby.
Morrigan's going to need help and who do you think would help her........yep, the Warden.
All of this is just IMO that could happen.
So this could set up part 3 as you could pick to be Hawke and help Flemith or you could pick your Warden and help Morrigan. Hawke vs. Warden.........I think I know who I would be.
Hell, it may sound silly but thats just my mind working on how to get both stories to fit.

I agree that "Hawke" is kind of a goofy name. I told my friend I was going to name mine Ethan and he said he'd name his Lady XD It's not a dealbreaker though.

Very Disappointed to be forced to play as a human, you don't feel completely like it's your character.
Unless you intended to play a human.
And if Hawk is the boy from DA:O...
He's not. That's just a (stupid) rumor.
