I bet most of the whiners will be first in line to buy DA2. "Oh my, the protagonist won't be a voiceless puppet anymore, THIS FRANCHISE IS RUINED!" Shut up and stop complaing, you've barely seen anything of this game.

I'm extremely happy that Hawke will have a voice. The fact that the Warden didn't have a voice was the only thing I hated about Dragon Age. I mean, you're talking to the man who betrayed your family, I want to see and hear some emotions.

I hope the cameraman will move his ass rather than stay in one position for every dialogue in the game.

Why is it that so many of those who think DA2 will be great, are so busy telling those who do not think so, that they are whiners and should shut up? I could say: "Stop whining about ppl not liking what they have heard and seen so far. Shut up!"

If you are excited, good for you. I am not.

YOu have no idea that "The only link to the first game is that Hawke survivied the blight"... You have no idea whether or not "Morrigan's child included" is in the game.

Maybe.. But When they say "You won't fight an ancient evil", they say that the story will be totally set in a new land we even knew and the main quest will be  about "The champion of kirkmall" I'd really like to understand where someone could find sonme connections whit the previous story... I really feel like they are showing me a full new story

Anyway, I am no a oracle and I am not saying I am right..
I am just expressing my opinion.. There is no need to insult or be aggressive just before I express ina peaceful way an opinion which can be different from yours....

I'm sort of conflicted about the voice thing, while i like the voice system in mass effect, but i loved my dwarf in Origins. I wish i could play as a dwarf with a thick scottish accent.
i also like the sound of a new combat system. "Fight like a spartan" i think that was they said. i liked the fight system in origins but i think it would be brilliant to have a system like assassin's creed in the dragon age setting.

ok.....just read that article again.

In regards to the Hawke escaping the blight.........it doesn't explicitly say if he was a coward who fled Lothering instead of defending it ( assuming he was even capable of doing so ).

First, the title says Hawke didn't just survive the blight....he escaped it.

Then, it says that Lothering was raided and destroyed, but Hawke was one of the survivors.  This seems to suggest that Hawke survived the raid on Lothering.....not that he fled before or during the attack.  For all we know, he could have tried to defend Lothering, got injured in the process, was left for dead....but ended up surviving and left after they Darkspawn finished attacking.

Finally, it says instead of  staying and fighting the darkspawn menace, he fled Ferelden.  Again, this didn't say the darkspawn menace to Lothering.....it could mean he didn't want ot fight the darkspawn menace to Ferelden in general, like the Wardens did.  And again, it says he fled Ferelden.....not necessarily he fled Lothering.........

IOW....from the info in that one little paragraph, I think it's too early to conclude Hawke was a coward who abandoned Lothering and fled.

I wonder why a lot of people who obviously did not pay attention to the story in DA:O complain about DA2? I mean, if you think a guy escaping from Lothering is a coward or a traitor...?

Lothering was nothing more than a refugee camp. Almost everyone in that town had ALREADY ran away at least once. They were on the way to evacuate the town once and for all when the Warden comes by, and the group of darkspawn you fight on your way out is a scouting party and the raid is imminent.

It's more than clear.. The only link to the first game is that Hawke survived to the blight
But the story won't be any major connection to the first game, Morrigan's child included.
As long as Orlais, Antiva & other places will have still to wait for further chapters...

<_< you are a moron.

Wait what? how is this guy a moron...

He has no proof that the blight is the only connection. All he has is that he was a survior yet this moron thinks that's the only connection and says nothing else from DAO will play a part in DA2 because of little info.

And you have no proof that he is wrong, so to your own logic you are a moron too.

I aint raging on the internet like a moron. Show me a post where I said there would be connections. I have not, nice try.

Well let him have his opinion. You don't know if he is wrong. Since when it is forbidden to have a bad feeling about something. I admire you and everyone who can see everything positive, but it's perfectly fine to be different. Why do people rage against people who rage against Bioware anyway? If you disagree you can say it nicely or ignore it. Unless you get paid to attack concerned customers on bioware forums, I see no reason to do it.

Hu????

Rage against bioware???? Me ????

I am excited and happy about Dragon Age 2 from the first moment they announced it.. LOL
And I was one of the players who was hoping for a new story instead of a direct sequel... Therefore if someone read my first post as a complian he is totally wrong, cause I am happy about ALL the news I have heard about DA 2 until now...and I can't wait for have it in my hands

Maybe Hawke was 16-ish when he fled? He wouldn't have a chance against Darkspawn.

I think it's too early to call Hawke a coward, too, however...
Why is abandoning Lothering not accepable, but abandoing Ferelden is?

Oh and another thing about cowards... People who think he is a coward for fleeing Lohering must obviously have refused to play the human noble, dwarven noble and dwarven commoner origins? I mean the soon-to-be warden was a coward for not staying and fighting to his or her death in the castle, right?

I think that the statement "instead of  staying and fighting the darkspawn menace, he fled Ferelden" implies that he was capable, but instead he choose to flee.

IMO, this could still be just as immersive as DA:O. VO does not kill immersion. And from the sound of things, the devs still want Hawke's character development (i.e. mentioning his relationships) to be up to the player. That's the soul of an RPG to me, shaping a character's arc.

All of the characters in Origins had set backgrounds. We stepped into their shoes not at birth, but in the middle of their lives. It looks to be much the same with Hawke. Consider this the Human Commoner origin.

And term8 is right. We probably won't have met Hawke since he can also be a she. Just like there's no sense calling him/her a coward for fleeing just yet since we don't know how old s/he was or what his/her condition was at the time. Plus, in the words of so many at the chantry, Lothering was lost.

i've just realised what this reminded me of (after reading some one else post) ...Fable 3 the plot seems the same... you're a low life, build a gang/army, get into power, make a legacy... im not slagging this game off before its released so dont start flamming

I'm just saying this is what it reminds me off, should be interesting to see what it will be like though

Well then I didn't talk about you, but others, me for example :)

I am just saying let the whiners whine. Why even come to a forum to whine about whiners? That's even worse than whining about a game that isn't even out yet. Constructive critizism is always good, no matter if negative or positive. If didn't tell BW what they like AND WHAT THEY DON'T LIKE, how could they know what they are doing wrong? That's all I am saying, if it looked like I am thinking you are whining or raging then I am sorry :)

I'm actually quite happy that he ran... If Hawker is going to have some kind of pre-set personality, i want it to be a sensible one, not wishy washy "Let's save the world!" one.

Why would he have fought the Blight? Plenty of jobs elsewhere.

abandoning your home and a chantry full of women and children is sensible? sounds more like cowardice. i don't want to play a coward.

What's he supposed to do, throw rocks at the darkspawn horde? He's a CIVILIAN AT THE TIME.

Personally I ignored that, since the gamemechanics didn't leave me a choice. I couldn't say, no I stay here and die with my parents. Bioware was pushing me, so I ignored it totally. Also a point where Bioware disappointed me and let me down. Especially since later you encounter a spirit thing in the maze of Andraste's resting place where you have to justify ... and I am just thinking ... I wasn't running, Bioware pushed me ...

Just like the civillians who picked up swords or even forks and marched to Denerim in the last final battle. I can respect someone who throws a rock at an Archdemon. But someone who runs away is difficult to respekt. He didn't run to fight another day either. He ran, and didn't return, and now he is fighting, only for his own wealth it seems... well we gotta see what Bioware has in mind, but so far I am rather worried.

Man this is first bad fact I've seen! Why, oh why, did you voice him Bioware? The casual audience are the only ones who needs him voices and I'm not sure I even want them near a hardcore rpg.

No don't worry.. and you won't risk any whine from me.. Anyway, I think every player has his expectatives, therefore he is free to express his opinion and his feelings which can be both positive or negative totally in a free way, (until he keeps the discussion in a civil way) That's the reason why I write in this forum, just to share and express opinion... Sadly it is not the attitude of some people here.. as you can see with the insult I took just before without any reason, but after all this time here I am used to it... Image IPB

After that....the only thing I feel to say, at now, is just "have trust in Bioware". Sadly, I have no proof for convince you about this, because this is just my feeling... Image IPB

Ok, I'm officially sold. I'll play it :)

However...everytime I play DA, when I'm in Lothering I'm keeping my peepers out for a reference to Hawke....
