I just have feeling EA is making them come out with games faster. It took 4 years to make dragon age origins now it's less than 2 for dragon age 2.

Why you might ask is dragon age 2 faster to make? They remove dwarf and elf so now there is less dialouge to worry about for different people reacting to your race. Remove different orgigins which alter your pass and ending and limit the game.

Dragon Age had a seven year development cycle.

I highly doubt they weren't thinking of a sequel during that time period.

Because they already have the engine built and are not going to redesign the game a few times like in Dragon Age: Origins?

Sequels always have a shorter schedule.

Didn't it take them much longer then 4 years?

They're better than Activision. And sequels can come out faster because they already have the setting, engine and they've probably been working on DA2's story for quite some time.

I agree with you man. In Origins we had so much choice and for it all to be took away. Agh hate Dragon age 2.

Well they already have the base from Dragon Age: Origins so they don't have to start from scratch which probably knocks off some development time.

A fully voiced main character sounds like more of an investment than different origins that aren't voiced.

Bioware makes X. Group P complains.
Bioware makes Y. Group Q complains.
Bioware makes Z. Group R complains.

I'm excited.  I just need to get Awakening first

Sequels take significantly less time when:

1. They're using the same engine and just optimizing it a tad, maybe improving it's graphics.

2. Did the story long before actual game development and maybe amending a couple of things later on.

3. The voice work is usually done in mid development while they've got a script.

4. Everything like the world and it's lore was done ages ago.

Just look at ME2, took exactly 2 years and it was equal if not better than it's predecessor.People have gotta stop blaming EA for stuff when it makes no sense to do so.

I'd wait until more then a few facts is released before making assumptions that a game is going to suck.

You know nothing of the game and what will happen in it. Quit your whining.

Blame Bioware, the ones actually developing the game and making the design decisions.

EA knows well enough not to poke and prod one of its biggest developers, remember they would prefer to continue milking the franchise rather than change it up drastically. (Less risk that way)

I'm just amused that EA is perpetually confused as to why their PC franchises go down the toilet in disinterested outpourings of pirating.

Hint: PC gamers don't like ****ty console ports developed for 14 year olds.

lmao me too hehe I don't like the idea of  a mass effect DA where you can only be Human... I like being an Elf unless you can make Hawke a Elf then that would be kool but I haven't heard that Hawke is the player  he could be like Alistar if he is I hope he has the realism as him speicaly when hitting on him and watching him blush and stutter so cute!!   Edit: I don't really think this is on EA this is Bioware's game they make it EA just supports them and has the Servers!

I agree with the OP 10000%

I wish Bioware had the cajones to stand up to them, but they're the Evil Overloards now. I can understand why the developers and writers are more concerned about their own livelihoods rather than making a bunch of nerds happy (myself included in that group).
