Hey gang,
Well we're all so overjoyed about the news of DA2!! Come on ya miserable sods. Even I'm not crazy about Mr. or Mrs. Hawke but admit it, come March we get to return to the land of Thedas. Thats pretty good.

This thread is all about something I would love to see more of in Thedas, entertainment activities! Now granted, DA:O couldn't really give you that much to do for fun (save a bit of wenching and 3-way action) because timewasting at all wouldn't have matched the "crap! the darkspawn are sweeping the land!" tone they were going for. However, maybe this time we could see more of the charming Bioware activites we've been supplied with before. I loved Pazaak and I tortured myself with racing in Kotor. ME slightly let the side down with the blackjack-inspired quasar and the random varren fights. However Thedas has a possible wealth of activities our brave heroes and nefarious power-hungry fiends could get up to.

So what would all your thoughts be on...

Ring-Fighting? (both betting on and taking part in)
Games of chance? (yeah, that one with the duelist so doesn't count ya cheeky rascals!)
Drinking or Eating Contests?
Archery?
Some form of Chess? Simplified maybe to save time?

THOUGHTS? MORE IDEAS? CONTRIBUTE!

None of it may ever happen but dammit, useless conversation is what forums were invented for! Huzzah!

Cheers,

I would rather not have Bioware waste their time making mini games.

I wouldn't consider it a waste really. Sometimes I found them a nice distraction every now and then. After fighting and dying your way through a hell of a hard section it was sometimes nice to mess around.

The other point is that they don't neccesarily have to be mini-games as such.

One point we call agree on though...

NO TOWERS OF HANOI!

I HATE bumping my own threads, makes me feel daft really but I was surprised at the lack of interest in side activities!

Even Neverwinter Nights had the gauntlet at that pub and a fight club. I think they really add to RPG's. Am I in the minority with this?

The Pearl is all the entertainment we need.

I guess I won't be returning either probably, since I guess Elves and Dwarves are poof.

I do like the idea of Ring Fighting/Gladiator Fighting....kind of like what they did in the Dwarf city in DAO.

This time....you can earn money by winning fights.....it could also enhance your reputation. Maybe....even the ways you win fights can influence how your character is perceived.

I wouldn't mind two or three mini-games.
