Every time I re-play DA:O I always end up playing with the exact same group because for some reason a lot of them either, weren't at all useful to me, or they were annoying.  I always wished I could have 5 people in my party... or swap them easier.

I'm hoping for more companions and for some (if not all of them) to be forced into groups more often for more diverse play.

Don't get me wrong, the weird tall guy, b!tchy girl, old lady, nice girl, smooth guy, 'handsome' guy, drunk guy and dog were all great, but seemed... predictable?

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I think the problem was that you wanted a mage and a rogue in your party (2 options each), yet there were too many warriors to choose from.

Really, you had to use Leilana unless you were a rogue, because you got Zevran later and it took a lot relatively to get him up to the same lock picking potential.

Both Wynne and Morrigan were fairly easy to get, though.

That was my issue! I always wanted Alistair in the group to take a bunch of hits and do some damage.. then me, and then I wanted a healer and a rogue. Morrigan didn't heal.. so it was Wynne, and then Zev wasn't quite as good as Leilana for lock picking (right off the start and I liked the Bardness) etc. So my group was ALWAYS Wynne, Alistair and Leliana. Boring.

I wouldnt mind a bigger party, of course you would need larger scale combat but that would be an improvement in my opinion. I already do these small fights in MMOs, something involving 7-10 mobs would be fine.

atleast 2 party members for each class would be nice too.

That's fairly off-topic but I found a way to fix this problem for me was in one playthrough to recruit every possible companion, and pick 3 at random whenever I returned to camp.

That being said, I certainly wouldn't mind if they made better, more varied companions and gave you the possibility to take more than 3, but with the console limitations that seems rather unlikely.
