That is the issue that I'd like to stay away from. The Shepard Syndrome. Of course, on the other hand, Shepard is his/her own entity and has a very set personality spectrum to operate within. No word yet, that I have seen, as to whether Hawk will have a finite amount of dialog choices (Good, Neutral, Bad) or will have a structure that supports an umbrella personality to work within.

Even still, yes, I'd like an option to mute the VO.

I wouldnt use this, but I see no reason why you shouldn't have it as an option.

I love how everyone is saying just play Mass Effect while forgetting that not everyone has an 360 or souped up PC.

isn't this already an option by turning voice volume all the way down and then turning subtitles on?

Not for people who wish to, you know, hear the music, the combat, or their party.

Wouldn't that turn off all voices, though?

Should be simple enough to have a PC voice on/off toggle. Even if all that happened was that you'd see your character speaking and emoting, but just wouldn't hear them, it'd be a nice option for those who want to imagine what their voice should be like.

I strongly support this. I feel the option to disable PC VO is the best possible solution at this point. :)

Voice volume affects music and combat?

*claps* Here's a cookie. Still forces us to turn down all other voices.

if modding tools are released for this game (which they probably wont because it will take money away form dlc hahehaheahaehaeh) some one could mod it out maybe.

Turning his voice off doesn't fix the poor design choice of forcing us to play as Hawke instead of just being like DA:O and letting us make our own characters.

I fully support this option. But I'm sure Gaider will rush in and decry it as another miraculous TOGGLE to solve all design issues! :pinched:

Easy enough to mod, surely. Just replace the PC sound files with blanks.

Easy to mod if they give us a toolset, maybe.

Given the mood here now, I suspect some enterprising modder will fix this one shortly after release if BioWare doesn't do it for us.

It's depressing if everything has to be fixed by modders.

I guess the dialogue system will depend on whether we can see what we're saying before we (that is to say, Hawke) say it, or if we simple choose good/neutral/bad. I hope we can see what we're saying so that if I want to say, "Move before I crack your skull open," or "Flee if you want to live" will be said with an appropriate sounding tone.

The problem with this being fully-voiced is that it it's impossible to make absolutely everyone happy, which would lend itself to supporting your idea of an option to mute the PC voice. Again, that working depends on if you know what you're saying or if you just select a "type" of response (and I hope we can see it).

Would it be too much for Bioware to pick 2-3 voiceactors for the (male) PC so we at least have some options and aren't shoehorned into SHEEEPARRD!

Well, I guess at this stage a good question is will we even get a toolset for DA2?

Its being built I believe with the same engine but given that we haven't gotten a toolset update for Awakening, I'm not so sure they'll bother with DA2...

I think da 2 texts in the dialogs will be replaced by a single word or short phrase that represents the options that you can choose in the conversation, like mass effect's saga,so disabling the voice of your character you possibly lose the sense of the conversation

It would allow me to invent the conversation myself, just like old-fashioned text-parser dialogue in CRPGs from the 1980s (or, frankly, the Elder Scrolls games, which do much the same thing and no one seems to mind).

And, we'd still see the subtitles (really, does anyone play these games with the subtitles turned off, even with the voice-over?)

I kinda presumed that DA2 would have one, yeah.
