but it seriously sounds like your desperate

So I guess you never watch HBO or stars or R Rated movies?  Drop the insults kid, I have a girlfriend.   It's not that I am desperate to see bewbs, it's that when you look at adult fiction like Sopranos or HBO ROME it's part of the story, it's normal.

DAO has UNDERWEAR SEX!  It's distractingly silly

As far as costs for the 2 versions, here is an idea.  Partner w/ HBO, and give them exclusive Dragon Age MA rated anime shorts.

I found the scene really silly as well. Really, I would have preferred a fade to black.

Just for the record I find professionally produced porn to be horrible. I have no interest in meth faced plastic surgery skanks pretending to act.

Sopranos - not porn
True Blood - not porn
Bladerunner - not porn
HBO Rome - not porn
Starz - Party Down - not porn
Stripes starring Bill Murray - not porn

etc...

I never asked for porn, you are again confusing nudity with porn.  Is the Venus D Milo porn?  Is the Sopranos Porn?

I'm pretty sure you don't want Leliana to be standing still in greyscale holding an apple, you want a visual representation of sex so yeah, that can perfectly justifiably be considered porn.

SirOccam wrote...
So in your mind, sex and pornography are the same thing? Or nudity and pornography? Are all sex scenes pornographic? If so, then why are the DAO scenes not already pornography? Because the artists covered up the nipples?

They already put the scene in...the only difference is they added some unintentionally comical censoring.

No, I don't think sex and pornography are the same thing, that's a stupid assertion. But yeah, an explicit representation of sex, be it on TV, film, or a computer game is pornographic, and yes, covering the nipples makes a difference to that. You may be arguing that societies idea of censorship is wrong but that's a different discussion to the one in this thread.

And you're right, the scenes they have are crude, awkward things that would be pornographic if not for comical censoring. But where you think they should solve that by getting the ****** out, I think they should solve it by just fading to black. No one plays these games for titillation, and the sex scenes are irrelevant to the story of the romance which should be the focus of the damn thing.

I honestly have no idea why this topic is still open.

Also, didn't Origins have see-through underwear already?

Even if it's Jenna Haze?

Look, I'm with you, sex in underwear looks really silly and you can think the Moral Watchdogs for ensuring that something less retarded isn't there instead, but I don't care much about it to begin with, so meh. From a business standpoint, there's no way BioWare would do it. Besides, modders will take care of it like a week after release anyways.

Why is "adult" content always defined as sex and gore and more sex and gore and more sex and gore and sex sex sex sex sex and a little more gore? That isn't adult, that's pubescent at most.

I'd be ALL for for an "adult" game, a "mature" game. Difficult decisions, heavy consequences (good and bad), painful losses, real sacrifices, difficult themes that are brought in for more than brief cheap kicks. That'd kick ass. Sex and gore and sex and gore and sex and gore and "ZOMG LOOK BEWBIES LOL!"? Ugh, no.

I agree. Bladerunner s one of my favorite movies.   Actually I think I agree with your post for the most part.  I don't want porn, soft or otherwise, but I have no problem with some nudity during the love scenes.  I liked the love scene in Mass Effect.  I hated the underwear in DA.

Hear, hear. Games that are rated as "adult" are rarely ever "mature".

Neither is the word adultery, but you don't see me complaining to Merriam-Webster.

It's a minor irritation for me, but the more I think about it the more it boggles my mind.

DA is an 18 rated game, that's fine and dandy, we have blood spewing absolutely everywhere with heads being sliced off and shots of blood like a crimson fountain firework. But the story itself is mature as well, younger players wouldn't quite understand some things, but that's up to their parents allowing them to play the game.

And yes, there is sex. With underwear on. They could've taken it off and just changed the camera angles so it would still be obvious what was going on there would just be no *gasp* naked humans. OH THE HORROR.

Also, Lady of the Forest. Her hair is magically clinging to her breasts no matter which way she turns or moves.

I wouldn't notice or irk over such things if the game was indeed PG-13 or even 15. But in an 18 game you kind of think "lolwut?"

For me anyway, that's just my opinion. Feel free to mock, accuse me of not having a girlfriend, etc :P

The act of adultery is never mature, yet you don't see people petitioning companies who write dictionaries to change the word because it has the word adult in it.

I think you're quite safe from mockery because I can't imagine many people thinking that the "crash test dummies in underwear groping at each other without quite touching" sex scenes from Origins are NOT, in fact, phenomenally silly. :P Same with the Lady. She's a wanking aid. A jerkoff toy. A ZOMG HAWT I WUNA DO THAT LOOK AT HER BEWBIES LOL thing. There is absolutely no other reason for her to look the way she does. Pasting a convenient strand of hair onto each nipple with magical superglue does not make that any less true, or any less sexist.

I can't agree on DA having much of a mature story, though. It is too lacking in consequences, especially negative ones, for the player's actions and choices.

They're probably going to sex up DA2 like they did with ME2.

You'll get a party member with a big behind that fills your entire screen. :D

Sony Microsoft and Nintendo have all refused to publish AO rated games, so they would have no console version.

Oh yes, it's the right-wing wanting to censor video-games. Yup, no left-wing progressives are on the censoring video game side at all. It's just those evil stuck-up conservatives.<_<

I never said anything about "democrats or republicans"  people always get confused when you say radical right wing agenda.

Neither did I. But you talked about the "radical right-wing" wanting to censor video-games, so I gave an example of a fairly left-wing politician who is also on that bandwagon. It just happens to be the case that when talking about right-wing that usually means Republicans and left-wing usually means Democrats.

There will always be members of both USA political parties that are radical right wingers.  You're fooling yourself if you think the 2 political in power parties are all that different.

Oh I don't think the average Democrat politican is much different from the average Republican politican. Most on both sides seem to want to control our lives (just usually in different areas). But anyway, this is not the forum for political disucssion.

All politicians want to censor video games. Making them look like a substantial threat to our values helps them distract voters from real problems.
