I found it a bit suprising that DA:O was a DirectX 9 game despite being released two years after DirectX 10 had come out but I guess with so many basic users still using XP that Bioware chose to stick with the lowest common denominator. I wonder if now we can move on to more current technology with DA:2. It seems to me that DirectX 9 has been pushed to its limit and if Bioware wants its products to be visually competitive they need to make the jump to DirectX 11.

That's because it's also being developed for the consoles, and consoles utilize DX9 and this isn't going to change until the next generation.

I think it has been said that in this industry if you sit on your hands someone is waiting around the corner to eat your lunch.

It would only benefit a few people (relatively speaking) like me who play on PC and have a video card that supports it. Don't expect DX11 to get mainstream on cross-platform games.

I see your point, and I raise you Just Cause 2.

I would assume DA2 will support DX9. DX10/DX11 as a standard still seems a few years off.

That's rubbish. Dragon Age was a pc game ported to the console, it was DX9 and didn't use features like 3d vision, Object Motion Bllur, parallax occlusion mapping. SSAO and all the other goodies.
