So, i just want to make sure that i am not missing something in the Circle Tower before i complete it.
What is up with the library when you first go in? Is there some kind of order that you need to click on the books or summoning circles? All i get is shocked!!
Is this supposed to be done during the main quest or what?
In addition, on the second floor there are three statues that do the same..
Any help?

They are both sidequests and can be done at any time. There is a codex entry that tells you the order for them all.

they are puzzles, you pick up the codex from them, you can do them anytime

If you click on enough Codex-updating stuff in the tower, you'll get codex entries (and a journal one or two) explaining it.

Thanks, so no problems then if i finish the main quest first. I can come back and do them later?

Yes, there is a problem. After the main quest finishes, the game end.

In the section of the codex that says "quest related" look for something about summoning rituals. I forget what the statue quest was called, something like The Reaching iirc, but I may be off on that.
If you don't have this information in your codex, then they're most likely still to be found on the first floor in the dormitories.

Be sure to use the Tab key (on PC; no idea on console) to highlight loot points, which include books and notes. Hard to miss anything that way.
The notes update in such a way that new information is tacked on to the bottom of the existing note, so scroll down to see more. In the case of the "Reaching" quest, the final solution is summarized by the last note at the very bottom, once you've found them all (the quest updates when you find all related notes)..
The one with the four out of five mages ends when you encounter the named mage while traveling on the road after leaving the Circle Tower.
All in all I really enjoyed the whole Circle tower series of quests, including the Fade. There was a bit of an overwhelming feel when I first got there, but that quickly wore off as I explored and learned what needed to complete everything.
Oh, and in completing the "Reaching" quest, don't be put off by the locked basement door; clicking on the door is enough to bring the quest to completion. ;-)

I'm actually having problems with the "watchguard of the reaching" as well I've roamed all over the tower holding TAB searching for the codex's. I assume I've found them as my quest has updated to something like "You've learned that the secret starts in the central hall common room and that the apprentice did not complete the task. I tried clicking on all three of the statues and I get shocked... I've been up and down the tower, I dont see anything available for me to interact with
As for the order of the summoning science, I've jotted down notes or references to the books so lol hopefully you can use my notes and locate the books. They go in this order
Tome Spirt (right side when you walk in)
Roderon (Last hall on the right hand side, not in the room with the stairs)
click on the mage statue
Enteract with the beast book on the book shelf (last hall by the Roderon one)
Click on the table
Click on another spirit book laying on the ground by the beast and roderon books
click on the statue of the mage
click the book of phelectemy
and if you havent done so already, follow this exact order for the 4th circle to get the "easter egg" which summons Arl Forshadow, act quick and pickpocket him when he appears for an addition codex.
I didnt include the summoning the flame step part so if you get shocked you probably need to interact with the summoning flames.
If anyone can help me out with this watchguard quest I would appreciate it. lol I have the collectors edition strategy guide and the side quest information is about as vague as can be lol. Thanks for your time

The reaching one is a little confusing because when you "click" the statues in the right order absolutely nothing happens to show you're doing it right. The first one is the one on the far left. You'll click it and nothing will happen, that means it's good. Then do the other two and then travel to the last one.

So during the fourth ritual you summon Arl Foreshadow.. If you pick his pocket you get a note with a bunch of "books to read" listed on it.
What exactly is this foreshadowing? Is it what to expect from the next DLC's?

The Codex that describes the reaching is number 317 in your codex list although there are several codex spread around the tower.
There are 2 in footlockers and one in the library in the apprentice quarters, one by Owain in the senior mage quarters and one near the other end of the the same place by the blood mages and finally one near the back wall of the main room in the great hall.
If you have all these, then you need to go to the floor just before the harrowing chamber. There is a statue in the centre of the room you can click. If you haven't got all the codex you'll get shocked but if it doesn't shock you, you can then go and find the 3 statues and click on them in order.
You'll know it's the right order when you don't get shocked. After clicking the last statue you should get a message that lets you know something has happened downstairs I forget exactly what) and you can go pop Shah by trying to open the basement door.
(If this doesn't work try clicking the 3 statues first then the one upstairs, I am really vague on which one I clicked first, sorry)

Be sure to go up to the "Summoning the 4th" fire which is at the back of one of the shelves near the staircase going up to the next level. An arl will show up and you nead to STEAL from him. He wont last long, i think he will only last for about 10 seconds before he goes. I forgot what items i got from him. I had Leiliana pick his pocket with level 4 stealing.

Thanks for the info Sorcy I must have somehow missed a codex Ill do a through search of the areas you mentioned and hopefully I'll figure it out lol. Sorry I wasn't able to help levi, I was able to do the 4th summoning (which is a repeat of the first three) just fine with the order mentioned above. Though my notes are not the exact names of them It was just scrabble wasn't planing on posting the info or I would have taken better notes heh sorry
Try interacting with the tomb of spirit or whatever than click on the summoning font than try the first summoning circle hopefully that will work to activate that.

The Arl of Foreshadow grants a codex entry that has books listed that foreshadow each of the main quest lines. It's actually really amusing.

Well, you definitely need to use the TAB key to find all the notes and codex entries. I did get notification that the quest had been updated. However, it's the three Andraste statues in the Great Hall common room FIRST, THEN the statue in the center of the Great Hall with the blue crystals.

Best advice I can give to anyone who likes "skipping" material is that you should try to read everything. Every codex entry has lore, info and usually something that makes the game so much better to play. I do understand the need for instant gratification, but sometimes taking the time out to explore what the writers of this game has given you makes the game so much more richer.
