Very odd letter

"4. Other than for personal enjoyment, why should we purchase any more
DLC for DAO, if it does not matter (or does it)?

What the heck do you mean "other than for personal enjoyment" that is the only reason to play videogames in the first place, unless you are chinese gold farmer in WoW?

Some do it for the cheevos (tis the only reason why I bothered slogging through the Darkspawn Chronicles), the additional items, for completionism, or because it adds to the background. I really don't like Leliana at all but I got Leliana's Song because I wanted to know more about her, and I wasn't disappointed.

It's a legit question. They all are, really.

I don't know what cheevos are.  I guess you mean DLC Items? :)

I don't undertand how you can not like Lelianna but want to know more about her?:?:?:?

And saying you are not disappointed, isn't that the same thing as enjoyment?

How was that Pizza?  I was not disappointed.

Cheevo = achievement. My XBOX preferences are showing.

As for the other, I highly dislike most of the characters in the series. This isn't it because of bad writing, it's because I'm grumpy and I rarely like anyone. But just because I have an aversion to them doesn't mean I can't find them interesting. I think Loghain is a complete and utter bastard- and I bought The Stolen Throne because he got exposition in it.

I'm going to have to classify that as enjoyment then

I endorse this

also, I am a fan of dragon wikia, it is good to see you people also share the same worries about DA2 that I have

I support the questions asked, but I'd direct them to Mike Laidlaw and/or David Gaider, not Priestly.

I agree. ME2 is an awesome game and I have no problem if they decide to make DA2 similar to ME2. It's cool.

Well I love ME2 but I would have a problem if they did that.

ME is a very different sort of game than DA despite them sharing the same party system and dialog style.

Because not every game has to be the same, it's like if Nintendo took Legend of Zelda and made it like Mario because Mario is more successful.

i wonder if Bioware should just get someone else to make a Dragon Age: Dark Alliance action game set in the same world

 Those are really stupid questions.

1. What specifically is Bioware's corporate intent regarding continuing DAO through expansion packs or another game of say 40 hours or so to provide us with some closure?

That's not even a properly written sentence, and it's a loaded question anyway.

2. What becomes of our Grey Warden character and our romance options?

Asking about the romance options in particular feels creepy. Presumably a few characters make cameos, but as this happens in another part of the world at another time, why should it possibly matter what your relationships were and why should the devs spend hours coding for every possibility? The only one which matters is Morrigan, and that's such a huge event it will either canonically happen or not happen.

3. How does DA2 enhance DAO gamer enjoyment if we cannot import our Warden character to be the hero/heroine?

Another loaded question, but even worst case it gives you knowledge of Thedas. Christ, did you people not enjoy DAO for what it was? Was it only an epic story if there's a sequel referencing that you let some dwarf study magical history?

4. Other than for personal enjoyment, why should we purchase any more DLC for DAO, if it does not matter (or does it)?

Threatening to not buy any more DLC if you can't continue your heartfelt epic romance with Imoen - I mean Leliana! - is dumb. Buy it if you enjoy playing it, don't if you don't, but pro-tip; DLC is unlikely to be referenced because comparatively few gamers play them and, again, you clearly have a huge misunderstanding of how much extra dev work would be needed to accommodate the hundreds of decisions and outcomes formed in DAO.

Chris, or any dev that may be reading, these people do not speak for the fans. Please don't let DA2 become a necessarily-short quagmire of references to the first game, make something fresh and fun instead.

[i]6. What is the main source of inspiration for DAO2? Is it ME2 or

The sad thing is you're not entirely wrong:

http://www.giantbomb...8/achievements/

Human Noble: 60%
Mage: 48
City/Dalish elf: 30%
Noble/Commoner dwarf: 26%

Of course, I'd imagine that most of the people on this site have gone through all the Origin stories and the Giantbomb statistics are only for the 360 version of the game.

If you want more Warden and Leliana or whatever, ask for more DA:O expansions. New game, new character, new story, etc. It's called DRAGON AGE (the time period in that world) not "The Warden of the 5th Blight's Epic Dating Sim". Also, every single game ever does not need to be a DLC continuation of every single previous game. This isn't Mass Effect where the whole universe is a cult of personality around Shepard/Warden. It's nice to have a fresh start, in a new place, with diff characters and story. They created a big awesome setting, and I hope they use it to it's fullest instead of limiting it because "EVERY DRAGON AGE GAME NEEDS TO REVOLVE AROUND AND BE COMPLETELY DEPENDENT ON ORIGINS!!!" Ugh.

Agree with Dave, this is not about critising ME2 but DA2. If Bioware want to make Midevil ME2 that's not problem but dont relate the name to DAO, give it a new name.

To copy a nother game at change the scences is hardly original and if i want to play ME2 then I play ME2 not DAO.

What's worse, it doesn't say if it's an Elf Mage or a Human Mage.

Honestly I feel that the only question worth much merit is number 6. "What is the main source of inspiration for DAO2? Is it ME2 or DAO?"

While comparisons can definitely be drawn to ME2, I feel that Bioware may also be taking a bit of inspiration from Warden's Fall: Simulating DA2 to be an experience alike to that would be quite awesome.

There are many loose ends and possibilities when the game ended that we want to resolve through game play.

In other words, had they decided to continue the series and allow imports, people would whine when these plotholes loose ends were insufficiently resolved.

It is much easier to start anew.

Yeah, that's a pretty dumb question.  Whether or not more content "matters" is something you have to decide for yourself, you can't demand that Bioware answer that for you.

Bioware devs will probably ignore your questions(intentionally or not). Why not pm them?

nah, even that question is a bit ridiculous. The reason ME2 keeps getting mentioned isn't because we believe that bioware is trying to copy ME2 into the DA world, but just because they seem to display a similar direction in design philosophy

I am rather shocked people do not focus their attention on work done by the people designing DA2.  Namely Awakenings and the DLC and DAO itself.

Going to something developed by an entirely different set of writers and programmers and designers strikes me as bizarre.

The direction of the DLC and Awakenings is plenty fodder for concern without bringing in irrational fears DA2 is going to be a third person space shooter.

This is the best critique of BioWare fandom I've ever read. The relationship parts of these games are great, but some fans are just obsessed with the ones that involves getting some pixellated sexy-time.

I mean the coolest part of ME2 relationships was becoming space-bros with Garrus and Jacob, but there's no thousand post thread about that.

I agree, ionly two decent DLC's was made Stone prisoner and Lelianas Song. Awakening is very bad(almost shocking).

As a business guy,  I have no problems with questions from customers. Happy customers spend money.  If Gaider is the one to ask instead of Priestly, then answer the questions, Dave.  I am wondering about question 1.  And yes, I chased Morrigan, go figure.  And yes, I want to  chase her one more time in a future DA:O DLC or expansion but not as Hawke in DA2.  Morrigan approves +25.

Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda are both good games, what's being debated here is if Legend of Zelda will now start to turn into Super Mario Bros.
Same concept with DA:O to ME2

What is being debated here is exactly how irrelevant a group of fanboys asking inane questions about how their Leliana romances should take precedence over money, time, practicality and the possibility of a fun game being produced are.

The conclusion; they are very irrelevant.

This is absurd. I've never heard of any other sequel that's attracted this much abuse from it's predecessor's fans, even ME2. And now the people who make the wiki are moaning? It's been literally about 24 hours since this game was announced. We know next to nothing about DA2. But people are reacting like they've turned it into a Call of Duty game.

It's a little sickening, to be honest. I think I'll be back in this forum in a couple of months. Things should have died down by then.

ME1 and 2 have no real difference despite being many RPG elements cut out

what do we know of DA2 by now? It cuts out origins and every race except human, this is a damn good reason to complain for many of us, it is a huge disappointment
