Not to be making conclusions at a really early game stage, when we have so little info.... But...
Hawke drives the story.
Dragon Age II is not about killing an
ancient evil or about quelling another blight; Hawke is the driving
force behind the narrative. Over the course of the game's 10-year
timeline, players' actions and choices will determine Hawke's history,
relationships, and regrets...all in service to answering the larger
question: Who is the Champion of Kirkwall?

So, from this I understand, that Our main goal is to be the Champion of Kirkwall? Or??
I mean the interesting part is that it's a 10 year timeline, so does it start right there at Lothering, or already at Kirkwall?  I mean sure this does sound tempting " What exactly Hawke does to earn the honorary title of Champion,
however, is up to you."
I'm just confused, when DA:O was announced, we already knew that it will involve war with the darkspawn aka a blight as a main goal. Right now it's a bit unsure but I suppose we should wait for more news eh? At least it's not about Grey wardens or such, something else this time, ah well, I have some hopes.

Why does Kirkwall sounds like the name of a 50-man village somewhere in the middle of nowhere where the local delicacy is mud, mud, chicken and mud?
