I'm willing to stake money on the fact that not only will it not import your save game but they will cannonize a particular series of events and everything else will have never happened.
I am willing to bet against you

I think your choices in Origins will be small if none at all. Who knows! Bioware might just decide to pick that for you aswell, They have picked everything else there selfs so far wouldnt surprise me.

It feels like Bioware is just dumping everyone and everything that made the Dragon age origins good to start with and making us jump into this new story. I never though Bioware would do this I feel let down big time.

I have a strong feeling, DA2 is going to make a different approach to the world of Dragon Age. They may let us import savegames, but even then only for the sake of saying 'It was an option, as we promised.' But it will only be a footnote to DA2. Mr. and Mrs. Hawke's Story won't be influenced by it at all.
Now imagine, your savegame is imported. That means Wynne and Leliana could be dead, Alistair could be dead, Sten could be dead, Zevran could be dead. So these characters can't be in the main plot or they would leave a hole if they died in DA:O already. Since there is full VO, they cannot easily be replaced by other characters either (like Wreave and Wrex in ME2). So they could at best show up as random NPC with short dialogue. Same counts for non party NPCs as Harrowmond, Zathrian, Connor, etc. Bioware will have to turn the main character's attention in a different direction, so that events from Ferelden cannot cause problems.
We have seen how BW handle these things in DA:Awakening. The hero gets involved and nobody really knows where his former companions are. With few exceptions. Maybe they get a mention in the final slideshow.

I do hope they use our save games as saving your choices was made fairly big deal when DA1 was made, altough I do not remember actual promise of incorporating choices between the games. Then again Mass Effect series does it, and I do think it makes the experience more of your own, even if the changes are cosmetic most of the time.

Has there been any hint how many years after the events of first game this happens?

It begins in Lothering before it is overrun by the darkspawn horde.

You act like this is a new discovery. Dragon Age games were never designed to be a continuous story like the Mass Effect series. I kept telling people on the old forums that this franchise is about the setting rather than individual stories, and each game will most likely be set in a different part of Thedas and have its own standalone epic tale. Now it looks like I'm being vindicated. At no point did Bioware ever imply that Dragon Age 2 would feature Grey Wardens or allow import of the DA:O savefile. Thedas is a massive setting and Ferelden is but a tiny, rather irrelevent country. The Blight is over and the Grey Wardens are no longer important on the world stage.UberDuber wrote...

What gets me is that lots of people here are complaining about DA2's apparent similarities with Mass Effect, yet they're also complaining that it's not like Mass Effect enough, namely that it doesn't have a single story with importable savefiles.

"Will see the consequences of our actions sooner instead of a little text at the end of the game" in regards to your imported save in to DA2.
