I doubt we saw Hawke. Since we can customise gender and class they're probably not on screen when we're at Lothering.
Maybe the female hawk would be the girl we made traps for????????????????

It seems alot of people think it is the young child from the bridge, i on the other hand believe he is the freindly refugee who tells you about the soldiers at the Inn. Seeing as DA2 takes place over a ten year period starting sometime afterfleeing lothering he could not be the child or the game would have to start with Hawk being about 10 yrs old. Now the freindly refugee even looks a bit like the cover art.

1) Hawke was probably not a specific character we met in Lothering, but rather implied among the nameless refugees or residents. Hawke may be male or female, so they would not predetermine that.
2) Hawke could be any age in Lothering. We know that he was from there and fled, but we don't know how long after that DA2 will begin.

i think who hawke IS will be related to WHAT he is. A mage couldn't lead a normal life in lothering. i don't think our warden saw hawk, but im almost certain he saw us.
Maybe import a save that will know what our old character/ party members were and see them in the intro sequence.

i think the bigger problem is that it would be a mage running free. that would mean he's an apostate... interesting^^

I would prsonally enjoy it much more if it were some obscure person we met and there meeting with our grey warden actually changed there viewpoint and inspired them to act,. Myabe they would remember the small almost meaningless meeting somewhere in there background. I could be a very nice touch and a good link to the former PC without actually having to give the PCs name, just remembering a meeting with a grey warden in lothering,.

I agree! I love the idea that our Warden might have inspired Hawke! But I don't think he or she would be a specific person in Lothering, more like a generic person - one of the nameless background characters, so as not to impinge on the player's customization freedom.

in lothering, right before the church was a chasind screaming about the darkspawn slaughtering down his tribe etc. maybe hawke somehow wittnessed that.
Thats interesting and a pretty good refence to use for background story, how the warden handled that could have inspired someone who was watching and not neccessarily involved in conversation.
