 In this article from Kotaku (linked to a Gameinformer article) they list a few things about Hawke. Things like He's human, he escaped the Blight, and how DA:2 wont be about him battling an ancient evil.
So I want to ask, is he even going to be a Grey Warden?
The main thing I loved in DA:O was the Grey Wardens. The idea of who they were, thier place in the world, and what they fought for. For crying out loud, I wear a Griffon pendant everywhere because of DA:O. I would go as far as to say, the Grey Wardens are like the Jedi, for this time. 
Having Hawke not be a Grey Warden would almost kill the game for me, as small of a thing as it sounds. 
I'm fine with the last name being set (as a human noble we were all named _______ Cousland) 
I'm fine with the race being limited to Human, thats my preference
I wouldnt be fine with not being able to be a Grey Warden. 
I dont ask for much Bioware, but this is something I can't budge on.
