I don't think it would work as an optional choice...I mean becoming a Grey Warden is a big deal and would have a huge influence on the plot.

I, for one, am glad Hawke isn't going to be a Grey Warden.
In my opinion, Grey Wardenhood was a really, really half-assed excuse for avoiding conflicts.
"Excuse me, but you seem to be traveling with an apostate." "It's all cool, man. I'm a Grey Warden."
or
"No-one is allowed entry beyond this point." "Don't worry, I'm a Grey Warden. I can handle myself."
I'd rather my character have to prove him/herself to individuals before they just let me do anything I damn well please.

As much as I love the Gray Wardens, I think we should not get the option to join them.

Maybe have one tag along, although that will reduce the "don't tell people this stuff" stuff to zero, DA:A already made the Wardens seem like they were unable to keep anything quiet, and being a Warden was a loose afair.

I'd rather we have a Warden who wants to join you but doesn't, because he's a Warden.

Here is my opinion, while he may not be a grey warden ie.. ritual etc.. I definitely think he has the taint inside him whether he drank the blood or whatever, per the last trailer <destiny trailer> you see he has visions very similar to the original hero in dragon age, the cloudy vision stuff towards the end

So yes, while he may not carry the title, (he still may) I believe he carries the taint inside him.

I feel I should point something out.  The only visions the Warden in Dragon Age had were of the Archdemon.  Not of women.  And there was reason for that.

well I still believe he carries the taint, its not just her in that vision, I think its a vision of something happening between him and her, as I stated not necessarily a grey warden, but darkspawn are a huge part of the story, you still see an archdemon type thing in the trailer, maybe there is more going on in more places..

Bioware out of habit, never makes an everyday hero.. they just don't do it, there is always a catch.. they are always something special Grey Wardens were never considered good and they sit in a morally grey area, hence how I feel they came up with the name grey wardens instead of white wardens, red wardens, black wardens, etc..etc.. as I said the title may not exist for the main character, but there is definitely something going on with him, and most likely not something good.

There is still much to learn about grey wardens I feel anyway, what about avernus' research he always said he would call you when he learns more, but I don't remember it ever happening.  I also don't think that something called a "blight" would only happen in one area, I believe it would happen over many areas and not just be contained to one region of the world.

The story is far from over.. and whether he is warden or darkspawn, they all sense/feel and share visions of eachother

keep in mind I"m only using the term warden as a blanket term for someone with some darkspawn taint, evil inside them.

That wasnt a vision, just memories flashing past in a brief moment before his possible death. Which then gave him renewed fight.

He doesnt have the taint, only Grey Wardens do.

Redefining the story to fit your ideas of how it should be doesnt make it so. sorry. Not saying they are bad ideas, just that they are incorrect, as per established story and canon.

1.  They are a part of the game.  A big part?  Probably not.
2.  That's Flemeth in dragon form.
3.  Some people killed him, you know.
4.  I changed my number.
5.  It, umm, did stay contained to one place.  That's what was so 'special' about the Warden in DA:O.

To say darkspawn aren't a huge part of the story is rediculous

Some people killed avernus, I killed flemeth for morrigan in the first one so why are we assuming that's flemeth in dragon form? Other then the face that we know flemeth will be in da2.

We can't use some people did this or that, I also didn't choose the morrigan ending but I remember reading somewhere whether it was for witch hunt or the sequel that bioware was going to assume that's the ending we chose.

I'll have to bookmark this thread, hopefully I can come back and say I told you so, guess we'll find out soon enough..

1. No, it's not. Why is it ridiculous? The Blight was contained to Ferelden, which is why the Warden is so amazing. Normally Blights spread across the world/continent, but this one was contained and ended very quickly. Darkspawn will be in the game. They are, in fact, what sets Hawke in motion. They will be in the Deep Roads. But you will not be fighting against the Blight or an Archdemon.

2. You didn't kill Flemeth. Morrigan even says as much. But no matter what happened is irrelevant, since Flemeth shows up when Lothering was overtaken, which was before you would have fought her.

3.. Gaider actually said they won't make the Dark Ritual canon. (though, honestly, I won't be surprised if they do)

4. I can't wait.

God I hope not, let The Warden and the cast from Awakening do that crap. I hated being a Warden and in all honesty I hope we never have to be forced into being one again.

The impression I've seen is that he isn't going to be a Grey Warden. He might be traveling with Grey Wardens, but that's another issue entirely.

There is no point in being a Grey Warden for this game. The Blight is defeated and the Dark Spawn are back to mere nuisance status. The main theme of DA2 revolves around magic and the chantry.

Aaaand let's shut down this necromantic exercise. If there's a legitimate question, post a new thread.
