I loved DA:O, but my biggest disappointment was the City of Denerim. Not only was it ugly, but it was one tiny zone with no NPC movement whatsoever. It felt like just another small outpost where you would vacuum up quests, MMO-style. The content was great, but the area was lifeless and boring.
This was also an issue in Mass Effect 2. While the hubs were gorgeous, there was barely any movement, and it often felt like navigating around statues. It was a step back from ME1, which at least had some movement in the Citadel.
I really want the cities in DA2 to be given more life and ambiance. I understand the issue of having quest-givers having to be stationary, but there's no reason not to have other random NPCs who simply walk around to give life to the areas. Nothing too complex needed... it's fine if they just walk around or do a few minor things. Is it really so hard to implement into the game? If Fable II, the Witcher, and a host of other RPGs can do it, I don't see why DA2 can't..
I hope the cities will be more lively this time

It would be cool if the cities felt even half as populated as say, Assassin's Creed 2. I have heard that RPGs are the hardest games to make, but I would still love for their productions values to be able to match some of the premier action adventure games that are out these days.

I would love more interactive cities. That's part of what makes a good game for me. The feeling of a living, breathing atmosphere.

They can't do it because it would be a good idea.

it would be awesome
if like sidequests are like Red Dead you can fail a sidequest simply for accidentally running them over with a horse haha
but seriously though we should be allowed to jump crouch climb and all that stuff
and like when we hit a local citizen, city guards will come after us

That would add a whole new side of gameplay to the game, and this isn't an action game so we don't really have any reason to jump /crough unless it goes in the direction of Zelda, which it is not. But some way to attack citizen / guards such as in Oblivion would be abit cool, though atleast DA:O wasn't built up for it to be appropiate Since the combat will be changed it's not impossible, but we'll have to wait and see.

I am still waiting for another city like Baldur's Gate. The actual city in the original game.
But another Athkatla would be acceptable.

Yeah it'd be good if there was more life to it, people playing instruments, people walking around a little more, and more importantly it'd be great if we could see trade carts and horses coming in and out of the city. Maybe even some women (sounds sexist, but it's a medieval Rpg
) cleaning windows and doing laundry then just sitting down for a little while.
I know with them updating the engine and all they can add more content I'm sure without slowing down the game too much.

Agree with op. More movement and action from the npc's. This has never been a strong point in Bioware games, though.

I think theres a mod that actually does that TC. Improved Atmosphere I think.
Now, if modders could do it, I'm sure the Dev's could do it too.

Yeah I think the NPC's could definitely use a sprinkle of life.
