Unfortunately, I fear you are correct. Incidentally, not one dev has come on to contradict that line of reasoning, that DA2 = ME2.

No because they have answered to a major line of reasoning... which include also this line...

And their answer is

"Calm down people... before we won't be able to provide you more information and show the first contents of the game there is no point to jump to conclusions and complain for something you don't know" Posted Image

So?  How is that helpful?  It's only a plea not to tar and feather them, with no reason as to why behind it.

When does any company, while they are still in production of a game or film, reveal everything that everyone would need to allay all fears? We can only react to what we know and we will only know what they are ready to reveal to us. To react to assumptions is foolish.

Well, with that line of reasoning, all we have to judge their future intentions is their past actions, that is by DAA and ME2.  Not very comforting.

Although I remain optimistic, I shudder to think what posts this forum will have if the Game Informer article contains anything remotely close to a quote that says "Yeah we took some some cues from the positive feedback we got from Mass Effect 2."

I am not saying it is helpful or not.. but I was answering to your question
"Why they don't to contradict that line of reasoning"?
If I am not wrong you are meaning they don't answer because they can't contradict this... At the opposite they don't answers to you just beacuse (exactly words of Gaider)

"Until they can see what the new game actually is, all most people are going to see is what it isn't. That makes it a net negative for them. People will get excited and nervously clench their hands and do the pee-pee dance. All we can do until they learn the answers to their concerns is smile and nod. The lack of real information on a topic has never stopped a good rant on the internet before. Wild assumptions exist to be disproven, not supported"

And honestly I agree with him...

This combined with DG's quote that they were going to follow DA:A's conversation system  (I can provide link if necessary)

could I take a peak at that link? Not doubting just want to see the conversation.

I am sure it has been. This is shaping to be a cluster f#$%^. It is as if Bioware/EA has no clue as what what made DAO great in the first place.

Oh, EA knows exactly what made Origins great...4 years or so of development, top notch voice talent, blood sweat and tears from the Bioware staff to produce one of the best RPG experiences ever. You can bet your bottom dollar EA will not want to repeat that fiasco as it is not cost effective.

it's a "fiasco" only if you look at Dragon Age as a single game.
They didn't spend 4 years developping Dragon Age, they spent 4 years developping en entirely new universe, and a deep background story for the lands and how things are done.

That, with the engine, can be later re-used, wich will amortize the costs.

While I appreciate the paranoia, 'we' would not be getting said feedback because they are completely separate teams of programmers and writers doing both series.

Rather you should be looking for 'we took some cues from the positive feedback we got from Awakenings'

The dialog wheel is just an interface change. In DA it was options 1,2,3,4 Now it's a wheel, no real diff yes?

unfortunately for the whiners, people prefer a ME2 style game to a DAO game. Maybe not the majority of grumpy old geezers around here, but the mainstream like voice acting and a cinematic "Movie" style game.  Why do you think Mass Effect is the A series and DAO is B?

Fact, the voiceless non cinematic gameplay style doesnt sell, outside of these fourms people were complaining up a storm about DAO not being as good as ME

"Dragon Age II uses a conversation system similar to Mass Effect's, where players select paraphrased versions of the dialogue from a wheel. An icon in the middle of the wheel even illustrates the line's basic intent (like aggressive or sarcastice), so you can focus more on the interaction rather than reading and analyzing your dialogue choices."

Ugggh, I really, really hope this means what some have been asking for ... an "integration"/combination of the old (DAO) and new (DAA) convo systems.

If it's pure DAA style .... plus the ME2 style wheel ... double erg.

Not sure what you mean.

It's not very cinematic when you have to interrupt game play every 2-3 seconds.

Okay, if this is true, my optimism has just shifted to skepticism.  Why does anyone think that that wheel is such a great improvement?  It means top right=good, middle=neutral, bottom right=bad.  I really hope that you're lying.

I don't think we know enough to make this sort of conclusion just yet. I agree that it seems Mass EffectISH, but that doesn't mean it will be implemented in the same way. The developers have said that they are close-lipped because the have to be at this point, and once the GameInformer article is out, they can be more generous with the information.
