Ah, yes, "Darkspawn".

Okay, if this is true, my optimism has just shifted to skepticism.  Why does anyone think that that wheel is such a great improvement?  It means top right=good, middle=neutral, bottom right=bad.  I really hope that you're lying.

In the Dragon Age dialog system top = good, middle = neutral, bottom = bad.

So what is the problem again?

unfortunately for the whiners, people prefer a ME2 style game to a DAO game. Maybe not the majority of grumpy old geezers around here, but the mainstream like voice acting and a cinematic "Movie" style game.  Why do you think Mass Effect is the A series and DAO is B?

Fact, the voiceless non cinematic gameplay style doesnt sell, outside of these fourms people were complaining up a storm about DAO not being as good as ME

Dragon Age sold plenty.  3.2 million copies was what I read.

Edmonton, Alberta (February 8, 2010) – Leading video game developer
BioWare™, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), announced
today that Dragon[/b] Age[/b]™: Origins has sold-in over 3.2 million* units
worldwide

"Dragon Age II uses a conversation system similar to Mass Effect's, where players select paraphrased versions of the dialogue from a wheel. An icon in the middle of the wheel even illustrates the line's basic intent (like aggressive or sarcastice), so you can focus more on the interaction rather than reading and analyzing your dialogue choices."

Well, that seals it for me.  No preorder.  Will wait for fan reviews (not the paid ones at IGN) before purchasing.  You know that this is just the tip of the ice berg....

The dialog wheel is just an interface change. In DA it was options 1,2,3,4 Now it's a wheel, no real diff yes?

Nah it's a change in dialogue philosophy too. The Dragon Age system you get to choose every line of dialogue your character says specifically and every action they take. For instance at one part of DA I threatened someone multiple times but when it didn't work I was given the opportunity to change tacts and stop short of physical force.

In Mass Effect it's more of a Choose Your Own Adventure, you pick the broad outlines of what your character does and then they go on for a bit without you. If the same conversation happened in Mass Effect I'd expect to be able to pick to use diplomacy, a medium option that's pretty much indistinguishable from diplomacy but doesn't swing your paragon/renegade faction, and a forceful action that might stop at threats or go on to physical violence. Also if I'd used diplomacy or force often enough in the game I'd somehow have access to some uber-diplomacy or uber-force option that's super effective for some reason.

Bingo! It is much more than an interface change. Wow. I can't believe that they did this.

You're somewhat right, however the difference lies in the gameplay.  In Mass Effect, I don't really know what my character is about to say when I choose the bottom right option.  Shepard might be a complete d*** or he might actually react in a way that I deem fit.  In DA I ave the option of seeing exactly what my character will say and am able to make my own judgment as to how she or he will respond.  This way I can actually choose what shade of gray I want to play as.   Mass effect 1 & 2 really give me no such option, however I do love bot games.  In any case DA:O gives me more options of character play just through these options.  Don't get me wrong, I like both but I believe I have more control over DA:O.

Also, the "H" key is missing from my laptop (damn Dells) so please forgive any absent "H"'s

That's nice and all, but you are completely wrong.
