We didn't necessarily see the whole of Lothering in DAO, nor do we know exactly when Hawke passed through there, nor do we know precisely what Hawke was doing. My guess would be that location is irrelevant, because it happened shortly after the Warden was there when the darkspawn were just beginning to overrrun the place, and Hawke was running and/or fighting for her/his life.
