If you read the very next paragraph of that same section of Victor's message (which I didn't bother to re-post because I thought those interested would prefer to read it for themselves), you can see that they've figured out what they did in the coding that broke this stuff, learned their lesson, and won't do it again. But nothing would indicate that they'll ever go back and "fix" what's already already wrong, and everything indicates that they won't.Daryn Mercio wrote...
that doesn't mean it will never be fixed. hopefully at least.
The last line reads: "We have taken into account the root issues related to the implementation of these areas/pieces and will carry it forward in an effort to avoid things like this happening in the future."

With respect to the Sentinel Armor/Vigilance Sword/Blackblade Armour fixes, it sounds like this is a limitation caused by the console versions of the game. In other words, if we can't fix it for all platforms, we won't fix it at all. PC users screwed again! Well, at least, we have mods that do fix these problems - thank you Qwinn!!
You mean because of the size limit for patches on consoles? Yeah it sucks, 4mb or something ridiculous, it's an old and outdated limitation, since you can use a flash drive on the off chance you don't own a HD for your xbox. If they really wanted to fix it they could release a larger patch as dlc (free of course) to get around the size limitations of an update. Never gonna happen, but just saying they could if they wanted to.
GET OUT!!! <does an Elaine shove> A 4MB patch size limit?!? That is lame.
And because of that floppy-disk sized limitation, we're not getting a proper patch for all platforms.

No sentinel armor fix? Ok I am done with Bioware. Just close my account I won't ever purchase another Bioware product again.
Honestly, you're kidding, right? You've got to be. Nobody could be this callow. Quitting a game and requesting account closure over a piece of armour that they haven't announced as fixed is just moronic. I repeat: haven't announced. As I see it, BioWare is fixing the gamebreaking bugs as best they can first, and aesthetics second, as it should be.
As someome who actually has experience at coding, I can tell you that maintaining the game's functionality is far more important than how it looks. Deal with it and continue to enjoy the game.
If you're this upset over something as trivial as a piece of fictional armour, how will you cope when real life deals you a crappy hand? That would be interesting to see, as you can't just request that your life be closed.
Next time try complaining about something that matters exponentially more than this.
Now that I'm done ranting, I want to thank BioWare for their continued support for the game and Victor for keeping us updated on new developments. ^^v
Basically all I really want to see is the Ancient Elven Boots show up where they're supposed to.
I realise that this next one may be fixed, but... The Urn of Sacred Ashes quest. (below)Spoiler
Anyway, what do you mean by the Ancient Elven boots not showing up where they are meant to? I find them just fine in the cabinet in Lotherings chantry
Well, I'm not that devoid of hope in bug fixes. Personally if there was a game they made that cause frequent crashes on my system and if it were proven, then yes, I'd say close my account and never buy Bioware stuff again. But I ain't like that, and im certainly not going to get rilled up like that over a silly piece of armor. In this situation, I'd go to Dragon Age Nexus and get a mod, but if you're on console, I can understand.
And as for Ancient Elven Boots not showing up, thats a common knowledge problem us PC users have, so of course console players wouldn't have that problem. Only way we can get em is mods.

Same here with Leliana DLC achievements. PS3 trophies unlocked normally though, long ago. But achievements on this site have just appeared.snow0815 wrote...
Interesting, the long lost achievements just appeared online, though the profile history doesn't list them. Guess it was an issue of them missing from the online pool.

Agreed, but I'm sure the design philosophy was "Title updates should be minor fixes to a game, not wholescale rewrites or asset deployment; QA your products before they release, not after." Like Dannyboy says, there's always the option to release a larger patch as DLC.

Must be the pc patches that we never saw for the consoles that are that big, besides 1.03, which broke more than it fixed, xbox hasn't gotten any real patches. For xbox once a patch gets too big MS will simply refuse it, which is just stupid, but it has to do with the fact that they have to make it small enough to be able to be downloaded by people that use an xbox with no HD. I personally don't know anyone with an xbox that doesn't have at least the small 20GB HD for it, I think it's time they updated their rule about patch size because it severely limits what can be fixed for games that need the extra room for all the fixes to be included.

What he's saying is it won't be fixed in this patch. It is possible that it may be fixed in a later patch, however.Thandal NLyman wrote...

I am wondering if this same statement is addressing the Blood Dragon Armor as well. It was fixed in 1.02a, but broke again in 1.03. This bug along with the stealing bug was the main reasons why I reverted back to 1.02a. It may not be gamebreaking that the Blood Dragon Armor disappears, but it's kind of a downer when you pay for DLC that doesn't work properlly. Sure I may not have payed for the Blood Dragon Armor (got it through a promo code), but DLC content that doesn't work properly is wasted money to say the least. I haven't even gotten a chance to use the Feastday DLCs yet because I had to revert back to have a working version of the game (the Feastday DLCs require 1.03, which I am unwilling to use that botched up patch since 1.02a works TONS better).

Wait has the Rogue's dex bug been patched yet on 360? I'm holding off my playthrough until it is..
As far as dex fixes, only daggers are mentioned in the patch notes, gonna have to wait and see I guess if anything else is included.

I don't think it has been confirmed that the maximum patch size is 4MB, that's just what one forum-goer vaguely recollects. They might be right, but they might be wrong.

Maybe.....maybe not. I vaguely recall (though I didn't spend too long looking for it) someone posting a link in this thread to information regarding the size and limitations of Xbox title updates. Also, I was looking up info on another game and saw the 4MB limit mentioned repeatedly on their boards as well. I suppose it could just be a giant rumor, but it's just as likely that 4MB is correct. I suspect it's probably an accurate number.
FYI, the game in question is Battlefield: BC2. It has already received two FREE optional updates to the game (totaling about 1.3GB) as DLC. So while Bioware claims size limitations as an excuse, we do have a current example of a company using the DLC option. Kind of the same thing with the PS3 saves still being locked. Bioware COULD unlock them if they wanted. And they COULD release a more comprehensive patch as DLC. Just sayin'.

As for update sizes, there will always be complains: PS3 people (me!) complain that a 300 MB update is huge for a bugfix (not the case with DAO, but still); X360 people complain that it's too small and doesn't contain proper bugfixes...

Sony has instituted a "PlayStation Network Bandwidth Fee" that requires publishers to pay for each gigabyte used in downloading PlayStation 3 content from the online PlayStation Store, reports MTV Multiplayer.
....
For example, a 1GB demo downloaded one million times within its first 60 days of availability would incur an extra charge of $160,000. Between the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Capcom has seen over 4 million downloads of the recent Resident Evil 5 demo.
So, Bioware figured out how much they're willing to pay to patch their game, and that dictates the maximum size of the patch.
What annoys me is that this SHOULD NOT IMPACT THE PC AT ALL. I'ts a brain-dead policy to force all versions to be indentical.

Hopefully we'll see an ETA pop up on tomorrow's update, but otherwise we're playing the waiting game.Victor Wachter wrote...
We also wanted to update you on the status of the patch as it makes its way through the QA process. This week, the patch passed EA certification and has been sent to Microsoft and Sony for their certification. This process generally takes a couple of weeks. When we get closer to getting certification, we will be able to determine a release date.
