A general release date would be nice. Nothing specific to cause people to get all upset but some general like before July is over the patch should be out.

What does Sony and Microsoft have to do with anything? Why can't we have the PC patch now?

Awakening) Silverite Mine Issues
Some players have experienced a situation where it is possible to enter the Silverite Mine in the Wending Wood early by picking the lock to the door (despite the lock initially appearing to be impossible to pick) prior to completing the quest with Velanna.  Due to technical limitations, we will be unable to patch this issue and as such we wish to communicate to players to avoid this situation.

Entering the Silverite Mine early may result in loss of some inventory as well as broken plot flags due to prior quests not being completed properly. Normally, the door will unlock after fully resolving the encounter with Velanna and the player should not attempt to enter the Silverite Mine before then.

You DO realize that the Silverite "Take away all of your gear" bug that people are complaining about has NOTHING to do with picking a lock, right??  I've always resolved Velanna beforehand.

This was the one fix I was waiting for before playing the game again and you didn't even address it.   This is more an attempt to make it look like you've looked at it, but did not.  Even IF this was the root trigger (and it's not), the script is still broken and can be fixed to not lose track of items.   IF picking a lock was the problem, then you could simply make it unpickable in its entirety (don't tell me that's not possible.. there are many unpickable locks in the game.)   Basically Bioware punted on this one because it's too hard and will take a little time to figure out what they did wrong and didn't want to delay the patch.

*grumble*

So, when in patch 1.05 coming out?  Lets see... 1 month in EA/MS/Sony QA between the various groups + 1 week to actually figure out the problem.   So, sometime Mid-Late August if we're lucky?

Here's how you COULD have figured out the problem:
1)  Set up a DA test script
2)  Equip the first X items.
3)  Trigger the "Remove all stuff" script.
4)  Spawn the hero's doppleganger.
5)  If all X items are not in the inventory on the doppleganger, debug with this equipment set.
6)  Increment to the next batch of X and repeat 2-5.

Once through all of the items, run the entire test script again to make sure everything passes.  If so, then try a sanity check with random equipment, say 100 loops just to make sure it's not because of some wierd combo of stuff (pretty sure it's not.)

Based on the tone of the patch notes, I get the impression that there isn't going to be another patch though.  The brush-off for the silverite mines suggests that they simply don't want to deal with it and don't want to tell their customers that.

Looks like a patch release date estimation of mine – August, 22nd – will be closer to reality than I thought...

If I were a developer, I wouldn't give a release date. It's a double edged sword that buys them nothing. What if they discover a bug later in QA testing the patch? If they had given a date of release and then had to come out and say "well, it is now delayed a few weeks", there would be uproar on these forums. SO, the best bet is to say a patch is coming, period. Dates set expectations that can't always be met.

We also wanted to update you on the status of the patch as it makes its way through the QA process. This week, the patch passed EA certification and has been sent to Microsoft and Sony for their certification. This process generally takes a couple of weeks. When we get closer to getting certification, we will be able to determine a release date.

Thanks for the update, just one question.

Why does the PC patch require certification?

A couple weeks, huh? lol. I guess I'm not waiting for 1.04 to start my first playthrough.

Why does the PC version have to wait for MS and Sony certification??

The best possible explanation is that Bioware is under contract to not release one version sooner than the others, so they have to wait until Microsoft and Sony both certified the patch.

It has been so with other games too (from other developers): The English version was done, but it's release was postpoined because not all European translations were done yet.

However the PS3 version has had things released at a later date several times. RTO had an early release for XBox with bugged filled results.

I agree. But stupid way to do bisness the pc user could help find bugs and make life easyer on the console users. Not to mention that the Developers are under contract to us the consumers to give us a working game.the moment we payed for it.

(Awakening) Armor sets: Sentinel Armor
& Vigilance Sword (Xbox 360 and PS3), Blackblade Armor (All
platforms)

Does this mean that the Sentinel Armor will appear properly in the PC version, even if Soldiers Peak is installed and enabled? And will DLC items warden armor, starfang, or blood dragon armor, etc,  transfer to Awakening with our character or will they still be removed upon starting the expansion?

Also, there's no mention of the bug were you're equipment could be lost in the silverite mine, when the character that loads with your armor and weapon(s) doesn't have it. Entering prematurely doesn't cause that, it's a random bug that takes place after you get thrown into the Architects cell.

I have to say I'm disapointed, most of the stuff I could deal with but the fix I was looking forward to the most was vigilance and sentinal. I'd hate to see how buggy DA2 will be.

An alternate explanation is that Bioware has to wait to see if Microsoft or Sony uncover any bugs specific to the console testing they both will do.  In the event bugs are found, Bioware will have to fix them and start the process again.  Bioware can't release a version of the patch for the PC that is different in contents from what will be released for the consoles - rather they won't.  From a developer's perspective, I'd assume that Bioware is taking advantage of the external QA work that will be done by Microsoft and Sony to further test their patch.  I suppose Bioware could release a "beta" patch for PC users now and follow it up with a final release patch at some point in the future, but that is often more of a headache.  Bioware knows how unhappy people are at how the PC release has been shackled to development for the consoles - complaining about it isn't likely to affect DA patch releases.  They have stated that it will be taken into consideration for future (i.e. DA2) projects.

There's no mention (either way) of the malfunctioning "kill 100 darkspawn", "kill 500 darkspawn", and "kill 1000 darkspawn" achievements. Are those fixed or unfixed?

I have the kill 100 and kill 500 in my game and listed on my achievements page online so what is broke?

The achievements don't trigger when they're supposed to.  If you're lucky, they do, but if unlucky...they're supposed to be "across all playthroughs", but I've played through 2.9 times, with all DLC, and the "500" and "1000" have yet to trigger.  If you look up the party stats, it says that on my third playthrough alone, I've killed 600-some-odd darkspawn, yet no achievement.

•    If a character is imported into Dragon Age: Awakening and is
stripped of their incompatible gear from DLC, they will be equipped with
default equipment.

Note concerning Silverite Mine, Arl of Denerim’s Estate, and Item
issues:  Please accept our apologies. While we wish we could have fixed
these issues to the community’s satisfaction, we are unable to do so at
this time.

I don't want to sound bitter but this entire process has been tiresome and frustrating and am glad that it is finally nearing its conclusion. I do hope that future products will be supported better because Bioware does produce amazing content but until the technical support reaches an acceptable level I'm afraid that I personally will have to hold out on future purchases. Best of luck Bioware I hope you didn't alienate too many other fans.

If you didn't read what Victor wrote, which already answers your question, why should we think you'd read our answers to your question?

I find it curious that people always blame the consoles for problems. I've always thought the opposite. If the game were for console only, and there was no patching expected/required, companies would actually take the time to release a finished product. Instead, they release games knowing that PC users are willing to tweak and patch and tweak again. Computer gaming has always been imperfect. It's the nature of the beast. I'm sure the problems with the game are related to the fact it is being developed for 3 different systems at once. It's an imperfect situation that is always going to present problems.

I wondered about that too, but they've released patches for the pc that were never even seen for the consoles, we never got 1.02, so I wonder if it's simply for PR purposes to release them all at the same time.

It's sad to hear that the armor and Vigilance sword fixes can't come in this patch, but encouraging to note your use of "at this time" as opposed to "ever". :D

Well, thanks for the update. I guess I will keep waiting for the next patch after this one, to see if it fixes bows. Maybe I'll pick the game up again then, if I have any enthusiasm left.

I have to say that the likelihood I'll buy another Bioware game is pretty low at this point. I am floored at how long you take to patch your games. It's incredible to have been waiting for bugs to be fixed while simultaneously getting all these notifications about new DLC getting released and being urged to buy it. Maybe I'll wait and see if the culture changes from emphasizing selling DLC over fixing bugs before I buy another game from you.

It's the whole industry in general doing it, dlc is easy money for less work than it takes to make a new game, not much chance of things changing. Kinda sucks being nickle and dimed to death with every game you buy, but that's where things are headed now. I am also hoping for bows to be fixed, can't seem to get an answer for that no matter how many times I ask, been waiting a long time to make my archer and it worries me to only see daggers listed for dex fixes.
