I thought the pc version was the better version, no? No elitism needed. Its all about the effort put into ports.
It is, but that doesn't mean the other versions are BAD.
Now if this was Bayonetta, then I'd tell you the 360 version is the proper version, because the PS3 port was absolutely horrendous.
But that isn't the case here. DAO is for all, PC and Consoles.

Yeah, combat was real simple in DAO when you consider that you're not actually executing the attacks, but rather queuing them up to occur.
PCers will get the same, which is fine, cause I actually liked that system. Its different than what you get from most games.
I'm glad DA2 PC version will keep its combat system and style. We need MORE of the party-based strategic-style RPG's like BG series, Drakensang series, NWN series, Icewind Dale series, and Planescape: Torment - which play with KB/mouse.
I don't need every shiny new modern PC RPG game having action-style controls like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Divinity 2, Mass Effect 2, Alpha Protocol, etc etc.

I like fast-twitch gameplay, but I thoroughly agree with you. The tactical aspect of DA is part of what makes it special.

I guess that's what they're going for in DA2. If they CAN combine the two and make it work, then I feel bad for PCers.
But as long as everyone's happy, its all good.

I loved Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game of 2010, so far, actually. And yes, I really liked Alpha Protocol a lot - despite its balancing problems and other minor issues. And yes, I really liked Divinity 2: Ego Draconis - which I do need to go finish and all, since Divinity 2: Flames of Vengeance expansion and the Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga Edition (Ego Draconis Remastered + FOV Expansion) are coming soon, later this year.
I just want variety here, honestly...There's plenty of room for MORE strategic-style RPG's, since they seem to be lacking in recent years...DAO filled this gap and I'm glad to hear DA2 PC will continue and follow down this path.

They already said the combat would be the same.
They did? That should dispell any fears about this becoming a Mass Effect game.
Just a bunch of chicken littles claiming the sky is falling.
Bioware has never abandoned a system that works and what players like.
Are you implying ANYONE liked the combat system? That's a laugh. If they're going to keep the same ****ty system, I'd like it to be somewhat balanced and meaningful rather than making it feel like I'm wasting my time if I roll as anything other than a dual-wielding warrior.
People need to stop thinking the PC version is the "proper" version, or the "real" version, or the "only" version worth getting.
Seriously. PC Elitism gets old.
But it really is in this case.

It is the real version, if you've ever played the console version you would know that it was a cheap port.

I want this too, believe me, even as a pc gamer. If they can combine strategy with fast-twitch gameplay, that would be ideal. For me, anyway.
Perhaps they could offer both in one game?

I think the reason they aren't changing it for PC is that they've got the assumption that PCers just want to take their time and don't want to be thrust into a game where they have to think on their feet and plan as they go along.
But if it works exceptionally well on consoles, I can't see why they wouldn't consider changing PC controls in the future.
Oh wait, that's right, they won't because people will claim its the end of the World.

Both systems can involve strategy. But the more reflex based it is, perhaps the less strategy involved?
I dunno. I love SF4. Its full of strategy, but not like the kind in DA, where you have a complex system to mull over each move, like you do in a game of chess. I wouldn't want DA to lose that.

Yea, but there are some games that generally play better on PC compared to consoles and vice versa.

Oh, of course. But it depends on the game, and in DAO's case, while PC has the toolset and mods, the game is perfectly fine on consoles, thus it doesn't really matter which you pick up.
Compared to say a game like Bayonetta, where the 360 version was top notch but the PS3 version was god awful, or other games that look amazing on PS3 but are pretty meh on 360's.

Your skills in game will be halved as well as spells because BioWare/EA can't be bothered to make some new ones up. And the old ones were to complicated for most players.
DA2 will fail and EA will shut down BioWare. That is how its going to happen.

The game will be dumb down like it was in ME2, instead of runes you will have darkspawn crystals that loose their energy so you have to replace them in the weapons just like the thermal clips.

Have you even read the news for this game at all? THE COMBAT IN THE PC VERSION WILL BE UNCHANGED.

But EA has changed alot in the last yars since de got ridd of their former President. They are not that sort of company anymore. I know that its hard to forgive and forget all the bad that EA did in the past but they vare really making up for it now.

This quote sums up perfectly what is wrong with people claiming the game is going to suck.

Blasphemy to some of the traditionalists, I know. I'm not asking for hack and slash style here, just something with a little more flair.
