It makes me laugh how most the people who like twitch games are on console considering a controller is terrible in comparison to a mouse for twitch movements. Not saying one is overall better than the other just stating the obvious that you can be faster and more precise with a mouse than a analog stick.
imo, it takes more skill on console than pc and this is coming from someone who isn't very good at twitch based games like halo and gears (well anything that isn't fighting a AI i am good at horde in gears after all)
well thats off topic lets get back on shall we

It depends. I for one, can't aim to to save my life in FPS games on PC while having a pretty good aim when using a controller.

Both systems can involve strategy. But the more reflex based it is, perhaps the less strategy involved?
Wrong. It just means preparation becomes that much more important.
LOL at all the idiots that think reflex action means less strategy. I guess not everyone has the capability to think on the fly, adjust as the situation demands and make the best of opportunities as they unlock through the unfolding of battle. That is the true unfolding of strategy.
This is why ME2 is so much more than DA:O. You have to balance your team so that you have all apsects covered be it shields or armor, biotics and techs vs outright firepower, organics vs synthetics. All things have to be prepared for, unless of course you have played through the game and know the encounters. Which is no different than saying you've scouted your enemy, another aspect of strategy. You have to plan your route before you go rushing into a room; scouting cover, looking for environmental opportunities.
DA:O strategy?
1. Set to HOLD
2. Storm of the Century
3. Wait
4. Set to MOVE
Or my favorite.
1. Set to HOLD
2. Paralysis Explosion
3. Set to MOVE
4. Auto attack
5. Some more auto attack
6. A little more auto attack
7. Mass Paralysis
8. Auto Attack
9. Still auto attacking
Of course you could do something other than auto attack. But that would mean you couldn't go get a drink, take a ******, grab more nachos, etc.
Its funny. I wonder how many of you would say there is no strategy when a SWAT team breaches a building to take out a group holding hostages? Or a Ranger team clearing a building held by terrorists? That's reflex action. Its also scouting from vantage points, looking over blueprints, anticipating hostility numbers and equipment. Funny all those are in some way elements in ME2.
No I think the real issue here is that most here just aren't very good at games that require more than passive involvement.

I fully admit I suck at (and am bored to tears by) games that require aim and fast reflexes. So there can't be quality games for us to enjoy?MonkeyKaboom wrote...

There are, they are just dying out. Market isn't there anymore.
Your problem is you think you are entitled to something. The same thing happened with the Elder Scrolls and Fallout groups when Beth took over on those. People think that just because you liked a previous product model and paid into it, that all subsequent production should cater to your interests.
Your type of game was all that there was for years, really decades. It was the same mess over and over. People, not you obviously, but a great many are sick of the same garbage. And thankfully there are companies like Beth and Bioware that realize that you don't need to be limited by genre. Its not a case of this vs that. Different elements can be combined to make a greater experience. And so we have games like ME1. Then DA took it a little bit further. And now ME2 blows them all away.
Don't get me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed DA. The story was great, if not at times predictable. But still very solid. And it was a breath of air from the utter craptitude that is total turn based games like Final Fantasy. But save for mage it was just lame in terms of fight mechanics by comparison. No way to chain melee, no combos; auto attack is not fun. When it comes to melee, The Witcher was far better designed. There was no sense of environment, defensive positioning was non-existent. You were relegated to running around is circles while Ogres chased you, or pot spamming.
And that is the crux of my argument. Like what you like, I really don't care. What I can't stand is jerkoffs making idiotic comments eluding to some self-perceieved intellectual superiority. When really, the only thing you did was set up a chain of parameters for a half retarded AI to follow through and then button mashed. And speaking of AI, DA's enemy AI was lame. ME2 they take cover, try to flank you. Its not perfect no. But much more challenging. If you set up right, a fight could last a matter of seconds with you coming out nearly unscathed. Do something stupid though and you die just as fast. That challenge is non-existent in turnbased games.
And while you may not like any of that, it doesn't really matter. This change has been happening for years now. You can't say its the least bit surprising that games are going in the direction they are.

I hope the combat system is more immersive. to where it actually FEELS like I'm doing something, other than just queuing attacks
Can you elaborate more on that? I'm not really sure what you mean, something like choreographed combat or more visual spell effects on lower level abilities? (spells like Lightning Bolt, Stonefist, Winter's grasp)
I can elaborate
he thought the dumbing down of the RPG elements in ME2 was perfectly acceptable for the faster more shiny twitch combat they brought in game!
Javier is exactly opposite of what RPG fans want

You are a complete ass everytime you post. Drop the e-superiority complex. The combat system in ME2 is identical to the combat system in ME1 save the fact that you don't have to level up weapon skills.

Actually they introduced limited ammunition, so it's not identical.

Bethesda created Elder Scrolls and they have always made the Elder Scrolls games. But you are right at one point, we are not entitled to anything. But we are the fanbase and forgetting your fans can only go one way, not that I think Bioware has done that.MonkeyKaboom wrote...

Anyway, I just whant to know how different the combat system will be to consoles.
