I'm smiling to see yet another suggestion that there's a Seiken Densetsu 3 fan somewhere on the development team.
"Hawke" is a thoroughly stupid name, but....

Reminds me of Riza Hawkeye, therefore it is an epic name, that I approve of.

I had been wondering if it wasn't a tip of the hat to the "Hawk and Fisher" novels by Simon R. Green.

I like the name. Now I just have to decide whether I'm going to name him Hudson or Tomah.

Hawke is a stupid name.
I really liked Dragon Age calling the player "The Warden" because it allowed me to still believe that "I" was that character. Now, if everyone is calling my guy "Hawke", I won't feel like I am the character, but instead I am controlling someone else.
This was my main beef with Mass Effect and why I didn't have near the emotional attachment to the game and characters as I did with Dragon Age.

Hawke is a fairly common english last name. Not sure where the connection to SD3 comes from.

Was Seiken Densetsu 3 in some way related to Secret of Mana?

The only real problem I have with Hawke is coming up with a male name that doesn't sound ridiculous with Hawke. Hence Fightmaster Hawke.

I think the name is fine. It's supposed to be a surname.

There are many, many, many videogames that include characters called "Hawke," "Hawk," "Hawkeye," or the like.
But there is only one other videogame that includes both a character named Hawke and six different prologues for the six different possible main characters.
(and I'm sorry, but it is an objective fact that calling a character "Hawke" is slightly more ridiculous than calling a character "Wolfe" and only slightly less ridiculous than calling a character "Raven." I'm sorry that you don't know this. I'm sorry that you are a ridiculous person.)

"Hawke"
Generic action hero last name #239
Might as well name him Maxxx Steel or Spike McAwesome or something.

Seiken Densetsu is the Japanese name for the Mana series. 3 never made it over here, but it was fan translated ages ago. It's an excellent game.

I'm not to keen on the Hawke name myself....especially as I plan on making primarily females characters.....and the (last) name Hawke just doesn't seem to fit a female pc....
Alana Hawke
Rina Hawke
Alexandra Hawke
Aila Hawke
those are some of the female names I've come up with...........not sure how they sound......
