When I say that I'd like to NOT be forced to have a rogue on my team JUST to open locks.

Or be so kind as to not put 75%+ of the game's static loot behind a freaking lock.

Otherwise I refuse to play this game until they make a mutator or implement a "bash lock" ability.

Lock Bashing is already in the games files (origins) there's a mod that unlocks it in addition to another that adds open lock spells.

Thats a basic download lol c'mon man.

Off-topic much? what does this have to do with DA2?

Lock picking also seems to have been a Skill at one point rather than a class talent.

agreed. NEed a spell for the lock picking and a certain amount of strength to beable to break locks this would make sense and keep the game play smooth.

that's a good point.

Warriors should be able to bash chests open. and Mages should be able to use TK magic to open the locks.......

Yeah, I hope they bring in lock bashing/spell of unlocking/whatever for DA2.

Or they could just make Rogue's more available before Leliana.

Don't know how annoying it was doing half the Origins/Ostagar and every single person that joined your party was a Warrior/Mage. Why not make sure that the player always has a Rogue in their party with lockpicking? Sure went out of their way to give us Mages but not Rogues.

As a mage, I had no problem slotting a rogue into my group to open locks. How many mages/warriors do you really need in a team?

This would definitely be a nice improvement for the sequel. I rarely used Leliana, and Zevran's skill was almost always too low, even though I put a couple points into the ability. I prefer KOTOR's method- you can either use your skill, or bash it open and risk damaging some of the items inside.

Really? I mean really? Don't you think that maybe the OP here was saying that BioWare should implement a bash lock for warriors and a open lock spell for mages in DA2 so we're not forced to have a rogue to open locks as we were in Origins.

There's nothing useful in those things.

I'm sick of not being able to cast crushing prison with my rogue or group heal with my warrior.

I refuse to play this game until all classes are the same.

Or at least make it so the enemies don't do damage so I won't have to heal.

Agree - destruction of some or all of the items inside based on RNG is a good trade off for those of us who play rogues or like having rogues in party.

Personally I nearly always play my PC as a rogue type of character, since Bioware always gives their rogues more skills per level and typically rogue talents benefit from the same stats that help your persuades/conversation options.

Right, like it's totally the same thing! Maybe if we were talking about stealth or backstabs. Warriors and mages have no comperable abilities to lockpicking, ones that only they can use outside of battle. It makes sense that mages are the only ones that can cast magic, it makes sense that only rogues can backstab, and it makes sense that only warriors can take more damage and wear heavier armor.

It hardly makes sense that magic or brute force can't open a freakin' lock.

Woohoo, my rogue wants that too.  Backstabbing with lightning bolts and stuff.

I love rogues. I think it's fair once you get a rogue to depend on having one, it makes them special in their own way. That being said I'd like to punch whoever made the introductory stories/ostagar lack rogues.

My first playthrough I basically skipped all the chests because the rogues felt so useless in my party.

warriors should have a bash-lock type option but mages shouldn't. mages don't deserve it. in fact, limit their options in the game as if they were made tranquil.

2 mages, 2 rogues, 4 warriors, and 1 dog. The ratio is off a bit so I think everyone just wants a little more variety in who they can choose to come with them.

That was satire. Wasn't really an argument of any kind.
