Am I the only one going "WTF I WANNA SEE WHATS IN THAT GI" that you people say you already have? Someone scan or post info! It's supposed to be a 10page article full of info about DA2! Why am I not seeing spams of threads about new info?!
It would be a horrible idea for anyone to scan the issue, the post will be deleted and the poster might get banned.

Scanning isn't allowed here.
Ummm...I'm actually fine with a dialogue wheel--at least, I don't see how it's some grave affront to all that is good.

I also don't see how removing the player's ability to properly respond to the social interaction actually makes them focus more on the interaction. Sounds like backwards reasoning.
Though, I'm aware this makes writing incredibly easy. Boo, I say. Boo to dialogue wheels and boo to VOs.
I'll join in your boos!
Although I wouldn't say it makes writing incredibly easy, the writers still have to script the spoken lines of dialog. This system could conceivably increase the writing burden, by adopting a paraphrase it could represent an entire speech. The only writing that would be simplified here would be the text displayed on screen.
Ok enough defense of that, I agree with your sentiments, boo to the dialog wheel and boo to pc VO!

The wheel means less dialogue options overall, that's really the only problem.
I'd like to think Bioware was capable of really pulling it off, Alpha Protocol and Indigo Prophecy did it great, but they haven't really shown themselves capable.
Voiced protagonists in an RPG, though, are always annoying. Not game breaking, by annoying. They don't feel like me or my character.

Agreed. I've never actually played Mass Effect 1/2, but I understand the concept of the wheel and while I would prefer to see what I'm going to say before hand, i hardly think it kills the game. As long as I can get involved in the story I'll be happy.

I am well aware of that, but regardless of that someone would do it on some page sooner or later. My point is that if people has the GI issue already and are sitting on 10 pages of info on DA2 then why are not the forums beeing filled with this new info ?
Personally I don't mind the dialogue wheel, but where is the proof of this? If people have the GI then more info about the game would be all over the forums. People are going mad about every single piece of released info, and I'm not gonna believe that every single info-hungry troll on this forum missed the GI.
What's going on ?

I don't think its a grave affront to all thats good, but I do very much prefer the DAO (and tradtional approach) to dialog trees. It was fine for ME, they were wanting to tell the story of Shep, you had choice in how he handled things but there was less of you (or perhaps more precisely me) in Sheppard. My char in DAO however was me, I built the character and was far more immersed into the gameworld of DAO than the ME universe.
A number of things contributed to this but two of the greatest factors (at least for me) was the lack of PC vo, and written text showing exactly what my character was saying. The dialog wheel its always a bit of a guess, and sometimes the results surprised me, which takes me out of the game's main character. If I'm surprised by what my character does, then I technically didn't do it.
So I'm sure the dialog wheel will work, DA2 will likely be fun, but can't say I'm very excited about this news. Grumble grumble, I started a thread earlier today focusing on the positive, I need to go back there!

Check the thread about the gameinformer article, several folks there are listing the info they've found. Start around page 6.

The dialogue system of Origins is way better than the one of ME.
I'm beginning to get upset with DA2. I could accept the being-forced-to-be-human stuff, but I don't like the ME direction BioWare seems to have taken.

At lot of this early info seems to be suggesting it's not you in DA2 but Legendary General Hawke.

They could, however, take a picture of themself holding the issue (closed of course since we've already seen the cover it wouldn't be giving anything away).
It wouldn't prove what they're claiming is true but it would go a long way toward credibility.

A dialogue wheel is an easy way to create the illusion of choice when in fact all options lead to the same spoken words. Combine this with the news of a fully voiced player character AND using the Awakening dialogue system, and there is no way that DA2 will have anywhere near as much dialogue as the previous game.

You aren't aware that the illusion of choice you're talking about happens with "regular" dialogue options, too?

"MY GAME IS CHANGING AND I DONT LIKE IT"
Also the wheel isn't really much different from just having 1-7 options. With the original system there would be stuff like (Intelligence) or (Wisdom) before the text more or less in the same fashion that they say the wheel will have "icons". And saying stuff like "It limits my choice and it all leads to the same thing" sounds alot different from the wheel I played in ME and ME2 ?!

Gosh it's almost like you don't actually roleplay your characters and just pick dialogue options.
For those of us who get really into making our characters beyond their physical appearance and combat skills, a dialogue wheel vastly limits our ability to y'know, DO THAT.
All so xbros can hear their character speak.

I think having a dialogue system more like ME is great! It was jarring in DA:O to have everyone else speaking while my character was a mute. Makes no sense to me. You're not losing anything but gaining a voice that helps to give further life to your character and weight to the presentation.
Having played ME1, ME2, Alpha Protocol, and DA:O, the ability to pick a brief line and hear my character speak is AWESOME IMHO. Every now and then the choice could be a little clearer, I concede that, but that's 1% of the time at most and even then, I was rarely surprised by the spoken line not being what I thought it would be.
I don't know why but everyone seems to be jumping on the announcement of DA2 to condemn it without anything to back it up with! Has Bioware earned no trust over the years of so many great games?

I agree that some sort of hovering over an option on the wheel expanding the paraphrase into the actual script would be very, very nice for those of us that are a bit... compulsive about our characters.

I do the same thing myself, and I too study every dialogue option before I pick one and I too like to have alot to choose from. But I felt that the wheel worked rather well in ME2 and I didn't feel I missed the list. (Probably partially because I didn't expect one in the first place.) And yes I agree with you abit as I believe there have been more options of dialogue in DA:O than in ME2, and more choice is obviously better. But we still don't knoe exactly how it's gonna work out... There's a long time untill it will be released, but personally I trust that the team will make it work one way or another.
But hey if you don't trust them that well and that you insist on wanting the old school list of dialogue I'm not gonna blame you nor try to stop you. But consider the fact that they may find a way for it to work. I don't believe they are gonna copy paste the design from ME2.

Roleplay requires you to immerse yourself into a character and make it your own.
A voice over doesn't give us that, it's a predetermined voice, not the one you want, not to mention that voice is restrictive in what tone it uses.
A dialogue wheel doesn't give us that because your responses are preset, to what? Good Bad and neutral? And even so your dialogue option doesn't even match up to what wil lbe done/said. If I want my chracter to treaten the NPC I want them to say threaten not punch the other person/NPC talking to me.
