Since we're on the topic of the soundtrack again, I'll mention Corvus Corax. Yet again. Unles CC are busy working on their next album or touring, Bioware needs to get them on board to both help write and perform music.
Here's few examples for those interested:

I thought Inon Zur did a good job, but it would be interesting to see someone like say Jespyr Kyd, Bear McCreary, or even Rob Lane do the score.
I just YouTube some of the ones you mentioned: didn't like McCreary or Lane, but Kyd was pretty awesome. I haven't played any of the games he composed for, but they were pretty good songs. I wouldn't mind something like that in the new Dragon Age.

This is more or less something that just totally immersed me in Oblivion. I mean I remember looking up at the stars and hearing this beautiful music playing--just epic. I wish I had that same feeling in Dragon Age, which is why I didn't really like Inon Zur's music score. I just felt it was way shy of epic.
Or something like this www.youtube.com/watch
my favorite song in Guild Wars.

The links are messed up. At least on my end.
But if you meant this piece for Oblivion, I just have to say 2 things. 1. I loved when it started playing at night while I'm calmly walking trough a forest and looking at the stars, and 2. For some reason it always freaked me out. Probably because I went inside the Weatherleah while it was still occupied by ogres and saw the bones all over the house.

That's one game I'm definitely looking forward to in 2011. Let's hope DA2 shapes up and becomes something I'm looking forward to as well.

I'm hoping for a new direction with the music - wasn't a big fan of DA's soundtrack. Don't know who should do the soundtrack but whoever does I want more vocals in the music!
If you didn't yet, check out my Corvus Corax links. Especially the 2nd one. See if that may be up your alley.

I second Rob Lane. Both he and Rohan Stevenson have jumped to two of my favourite composers from their work with the Merlin series. They are now right at the top with Michael Kamen and Hans Zimmer. I'm actually working on a 10 minute cinematic piece based on the music of Merlin at the moment that should be posted on youtube in the coming weeks.Deputy Secretary of Awesome wrote...

Music in a high fantasy game should feel epic. I think Enya songs would fit great (they were used in LOTR and Gladiator). I also like Jesper Kyd's music (Assassin's Creed and Hitman composer)
I liked the music used in trailer, but I'd have to see about the overall package.
Out of BioWare games, Jade Empire and ME2 definitely had the best soundtracks

The DA:O soundtrack had some pretty good pieces, but left alot to be desired. I'm of the mind that Inon Zur will improve with every game.
