It is too early to judge, true. But she isn't the only one that feels that way. Most won't post just to get flamed.

Thanks, I'll have to keep an ear out for more information...but I understand a little better how the system works....when people were talking about a dialogue wheel as I never played ME2 before and I was picturing a wheel you spin and it was the luck of the draw what option you chose ...LOL I guess I was thinking wheel in terms of wheel of fortune LOL...well I'm actually kinda excited now to see how it will work..especially if we get to choose how our character says it....thanks for the help...I even might pick up ME2 (Blasphemy I know)

No no, by all means, pick up ME 2. I thought it was an excellent game. I can't really understand where all the haters in this forum are coming from...perhaps a departure from "traditional RPG's," whatever those are nowadays.

Yes, that's why I thought the wheel spun.... it was luck if you didn't spin right.... I do understand the value of imagining how your character will speak... one playthrough my character was nice and soft-spoken......another was more sarcastic....and I think people on the forums were upset about the race thing and blamed the VA, but it could be really cool in DA2 and give the chance for more depth with the story having one character (as long as I can pick gender and class I'm happy, although being an elf and dwarf was fun:) I also like how it may tell us how our character will say something...the dialogue wheel looks like it could make for a cool expereince playing so I will buy ME2...I like space and aliens anyway too. Also I think the new system will help your character from blankly staring with same expression......it was kind of weird
Morrigan proposes the DR
PC stares blankly
LI confesses love
PC stares blankly
Companion wants to leave party
......you get the picture
Having your character talk will hopefully solve that problem:innocent:

I think ME2 is just fine but I have different expectations for that series then I do for Dragon Age so I certainly understand the angst.  We are moving towards a hybridization of game types and some RPGs are adopting more and more FPS and action game features.  Mass Effect was always clearly going that direction, but Dragon Age was supposed to be "old school" so talk about streamlining and combat engine changes in DA2 are going to cause concern.  The problem is that we don't know yet what that means.  Voiced main characters, the loss of origins, and a dialogue wheel don't mean the end of everything that was good about Dragon Age, IMHO.

So ME2 is just fine and it is an RPG, just a different type.  But I agree it's well worth the time, as is ME1.

Oh? so what we "recoginize" is that we have a new predetermined SHEPARD like character is here to replace out Warden? So this "worthy successor" of yours is to scrap the whole enitre origins story in favor of a spin-off?

I think not, I, for one, WILL not swallow this... I refuse to buy the game and WILL PROMOTE a boycott if it is what I THINK it is!

A whole POINT of a sequel is to CONTINUE off the base story! Not  create a different story in the same lands/Area!

And you wonder why the fans are raging, game schematics aside..

sorry doesn't cover this.

The devs never said the series was about your Warden.  It was never even about Ferelden.  The Dragon Age series is about the world of Thedas, and there's a lot more to it than just the Warden.  It was never intended to be a direct continuation a la Mass Effect.

Think of it as a series more like Zelda than Mass Effect or BG.

In this article it says they are keeping the combat for pc the same....only the consoles will get changes....at least that what I think it is saying:

http://www.gamingeve..._age_ii_details

Also I do understand the concern especially with imagining your PCs own voice and race....but until it comes out we don;t know it could be more RPG than we think (I am an old school RPG fan)

Also I am sure that in future installments of DA we will get to play another character besides Hawke.....such as elf, dwarf, etc. as they are going the human route with this game. Also as long as they do good VA it could be good......also in DAO in a way you picked a voice for your character for combat anyway....although I rerolled one character who picked the violent voice.....that was annoying whenever I clicked on her. Also we may have freedoms and choices that we don;t even know about yet....Let's wait for the GI article/reviews to get more info.....Trailers I'm not gonna focus on bc the trailer/marketing was so different from the game at least to me.

I am def going to play ME1 and 2 now though. I have to just because I hear so many people talk about it that I have to experience it for myself now......

Just to make it clear--this has been posted on the forums a frillion times in the last few days but once more can't hurt though it may be futile :innocent:

The Warden is the hero of DA:O, DA:A, and related DLC.  The Warden is not the hero of Thedas--especially since the Warden can, erm, cease to exist after DA:O.  DA is as a series the story of the world of Thedas and many of its heroes.  BioWare never said it was going to be the story of the Warden the way ME is the story of Shepard.

These forums and most of the posters here remind me of a bunch of Piranhas in a pool that has only had one drop of blood spilled into it and the meat is dangling above waiting to be dropped. Seriously over reacting frenzy with tiny amount of information.

And I think truthfully most people anticipate and revel in failure and are just asking to be disappointed without giving it a chance first.

This point and that of Sable are both exactly how I feel.

You can't keep comparing ME to DA: O.

Sure, they're made by the same company, but they're both completely different series with different foci, outcomes, stories, and, well, universes.

Comparing apples to oranges is one thing, but you people need to stop comparing sounds to smells.

One drop of truth is enough... NO IMPORT CHARACTER?!?

the hell is this?

I agree... There might be SLIGHT chance of redemtion here... to listen before making jumps...

but the so called "provings" (for a lack of a better word) are pointing to something totally irrelevant... like no sequel for your warden character

Which, if you would forgive me or any confusion (since it IS 3 am over here...) is what the point a sequel is..

Well maybe they never really planned for the Warden to be the hero of Thedas. Maybe his decisions were just catalyst to how it'll affect Hawke's world. By game succession, DA2 is the sequel but I think the Warden's story is just a prequel to the main story that is Hawke's.

I've always thought the "Origins" part in Dragon Age: Origins wasn't really about the origins of the warden-character. It's likely more of the "origins" of the god-baby or the origins of how the real main character's world and how it came to be. That could explain the Hawke being the "single most important character in the Dragon Age world."

I loved DAO as much as anyone, and have a few reservations of my own based on what we've heard, but jeez. Here's a thought...BioWare were responsible for that amazing game that apparently now serves as the foundation for all future RPGs. That's good, right? Well done, BioWare! So maybe they deserve the benefit of the doubt, just this once?

Maybe we won't like everything about it, but maybe some of it will be good if you give it half a chance.

Did you even bother to read what Sable Rhapsody posted? It was never promised by BioWare that the Warden was the hero of all the Dragon Age games, so it is only sensible not to expect to play as your old hero from DA: O.

Another thing; you sound pretty immature. If you don't like what direction this game is taking, then don't buy it. It's not doing any good complaining here.

I don't understand the question. The good that can come from this is that the game...can be good.

Maybe the dialogue wheel with the tone icons will work very well. Maybe the new visuals will be exciting and entertaining. Maybe the story will be compelling. Maybe the companions will be every bit as "ridiculously awesome" as DAO's. Maybe the combat on the consoles will be really smooth and intuitive and fun. Maybe the voice actors they find for Hawke will deliver an inspired performance.

All we know is quantitatively that these things will be there, but we know abosolutely NOTHING qualitatively. So...let's give it a chance? BioWare have done good work in the past, no?

I'll admit I haven't played Mass Effect 2 yet, a fact that severely depresses me, but from what I remember I actually liked the conversation system from ME1.

Both extremes of handling the ways a PC converses with a party are pretty neato in my opinion. From what we have heard there won't be a morality system in the game so all the choices should be personal rather then just whatever is more Paragon or more Renegade. I do hope they use longer dexcriptive phrases then what Mass Effect used for it's conversation whell, so we get more of a sense of exactly what we are saying/doing. Especially since the morality systems out. "I wanna play a paragon so I'll just choose the options at the top of the wheel." Would be lame if we select an option that seems innocent and end up with something that leads to a fight. With DA it was nice to know exactly what was being said before we chose it.
