As I understand it, DA: 2's main character Hawke -- a name I am indifferent about, and actually rather like -- will be voiced. And as this takes place so-many years after the first game, it stands to reason there will be new VO's to replace the one's that were officially belonging to the former main characters.

I am creating this topic to discuss what the forum would enjoy as to the type of VO's that may be present in this game. As this is speculation, none of this is canon, or necessarily going to be into the game, so it is more of a list of 'hopefuls' or 'maybe's' than anything, possibly even a VO Wishlist, if you may.

Now, before I list my personal hopefuls, I'll list some arbitrary rules to go by; it may not be necessary, but they will still be listed.

1: Do not flame others, or start a flame war: This is a speculation/discussion, and while construstive discussion is welcome, flaming others for their choices or comments are not.

2: Do not bash on the game: I have seen quite a few topics about how horrible, or posts about how this game will suck. Do not bring your bashing, or your hate into this topic. It is not the place where it goes, -and- to add onto that, the game itself has very few details about it so far; perhaps the Game Informer article will shed some light, but that does not excuse you for bashing a game with so little details about it. Perhaps you have legitimate concerns, or perhaps they are unfounded.

Irregardless, take these elsewhere. I have little patience for those who bash a game based on what little details we have.

3: This one isn't a direct must, but it is preferable. Use correct spelling and grammar, so that others may understand you correctly. Spelling mistakes will likely be common; however, intentional spelling mistakes will be frowned upon.

4: Act like mature adolescents, or at the very least, mature and understanding of other people's opinions.

Now that the arbitrary rules are out of the way, I shall start this topic off with my own personal wishlist of VO's. And yes, this may be a little -soon- to be discussing, but I feel it is a topic that the forum would like to discuss, and get in on early; perhaps BioWare may even take notice of it? One never knows.

And for the sake of the discussion, I ask that you leave Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale out of it; they are well known for their roles as Commander Shepard. For that reason alone, they will not be included.

Do not be afraid to include multiple possible character voice-actors for the same person; just list them in an easily-readable manner. Any number is acceptable; listing under 5's, or 10's is acceptable. Just do not go overboard.

As for the companions, since we do not know any at the time, simply follow this easy template:

Gender: (..Do I even need to explain this? Okay, fine. Female, Male, or Neutered. Nothing else. Including beyond those three will be heavily frowned upon.)

Race: (What race are they? Qunari, Elven, Dwarven, Human? Are they unique, i.e. a magical creation, such as a half-treant type of character, or what? Put that down. All is excepted within respectable range; also do not include Half-Elves. Half-Dwarves, on the other hand, BioWare never specified. So..uh. I leave discretion unto you, forum!)

Age: (Keep it within respectable range; 18-40 would be the ideal way, double that for elvenhan aka Elven characters.)
Profession/class: (Please, no prestige/advanced classes, and don't list their talents. This could get tedious and numerous far too quickly.)

Key characteristics: (try to keep them under two sentences. Ex: kind, caring, and loyal, but initially mistrusting of others, or specific characters. That would be the ideal way to do it. As well, if they distrust specific type of characters, or alternatively Hawke, list that as well under this.)

Personality Quirks: (e.x. any possible unique quirks they may have; do they like drinking maple syrup, or perhaps they have a mental disorder? Please nothing ridiculous here; I will allow a lot of things in this area, but do not ever start something with someone over this. I know many of you are mature, and thoughtful around this forum, but I want to stress the importance of being mature in certain areas where there may be possibilities of an outrage or something. )

And for the sake of simplicity, list only up to six, seven, or eight companions, please.

Note: This is a discussion thread; please stay on-topic as much as possible. Thank you.

Main Characters:

Male Hawke -
1. Robin Atkin Downes (voice of Sagacious Zu, again Jade Empire.)
2. Michael Clarke Duncan
3. Philip Shahbaz (I think that's the name. He was the VO that produced Altair from the first Assassin's Creed.)
4. Al Mualim's VO (I do not know at present who did his voice, but I did so love it.)
5. Barry Dennen (the voice of Master Sun Li in Jade Empire.)
(honorary mention: Nathan Fillion.)

Female Hawke -
1. Elanor Noble (voice of Maria from Assassin's Creed 1.)
2. Grey DeLisle
3. Emily Rose

(for the purpose of this next section, which is optional, I will list the voice actors I think would work for Morrigan's Godchild. This is all speculation, so take nothing as canon.)

Male Godchild -
1. Nolan North
2. Mark Hamill
3. Roger Craig Smith.

Female Godchild -
1. Harley Quinns voice actor.
2. Eliza Dushku
3. The voice actor who did the Hero's mother in Fable I, Scarlett.

And for this next section, companions. To keep things simple, keep the list of voice actors under 7 at the most.

Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 25
Key characteristics: Initially untrusting of Hawke's capability to lead, as well as suspiscious of his/her intentions, he keeps a close watch on Hawke.
Personality Quirks: Minor Schizophreniac, jaded and untrusting, he often stands at the furthest reaches of the camp, however he often trains his eye to look for anything Hawke to be doing as suspiscious.

Voice Actor: Jack of Blades VA. I have no idea who this guy seriously is, but I always loved his VA. Yet I am unable to find out who it is; and I do mean the original Fable, not TLC.

Gender: Male
Race: Elven
Age: Unknown (believed to be 69.)
Key characteristics: A cold, militaristic character, he is ruthless, and brutal on the battlefield. In close companies, he prefers the solitude of his tent to the company of others, and stays away from the rest as much as possible.

Voice actor: The actor who did Corporal Toombs in Mass Effect; I enjoyed that VA the most out of the side-missions, and still like it quite a bit.

Gender: Male
Race: Qunari
Age: (unknown)
Key characteristics: As far as the qunari are concerned, he is a fairly uncommon one, as he prefers the company of others to the cold, brutal ways of warfare. While he does not actively enjoy killing other humanoids pointlessly,  he has little problem killing what he considers animals; this includes humans, or Elven who he sees as animalistic, and not worth the trouble of killing.

Personality Quirks: Other than his general dislike of pointless slaughter, he enjoys the company of non-Qunari as well as Qunari women, and is, by qunari standards, quite friendly. He enjoys a finely brewed wine when he tastes it.

Voice Actor: Personally, I would go with whoever did the wonderful Leonardo's voice in Assassin's Creed II.

This list is obviously my own personal opinion, and my own speculation and thoughts, which are/belong to me. Flaming any of these choices of mine, or the companion ideas I have brought forth will only result in a very poor first impression of me to you.

Now that I have listed my personal opinions/wishlist, I would like to see other forum goers' opinions/wishlist. I am very much interested in what others ideas'/wishlist may contain, and remember, this is a speculation/discussion thread, so throw out any of your ideas/speculation/voice actor opinions in.

An issue here, is a limited budget. It's easy to list a whole bunch of high caliber performers, but realistically if you pay for a couple of those, you are left only being able to afford a bunch of bums off the street for the other 80% of the cast.

I'd rather they just focus on getting some all around decent actors for all roles, but really as long as Mark Meer doesn't voice the PC I'll consider it a battle won in a lost war.

@relhart:

Personally, I agree. As long as the main Hawke's voice actors are not Jennifer Hale or Mark Meer for the respective genders, it would be fine. They can keep their Commander Shepard roles. I do not want them back for DA2.
