Should they have used FMVs (live action [real people]) instead?
Somebody has to bring it back. Command and Conquer shouldn't be the only property that does this no?
Maybe EA should revive Wing Commander. Now that was a franchise known for live action cutscenes.

Agreed, i stated this many times before, we are not getting a sequel we are getting a revamp <_<Azriel77 wrote...
While a little more inflaming that I would put it, I agree with pissed off gamer. The devs pretty much flipped the finger to the fans and said that they don't care that we loved DAO as it was. They were going to CHANGE the things we LOVED about it in the sequel and expect us to suck it up. Well, screw that, I was pissed off at the direction Awakening went and this is even WORSE! At least it looks like bioware is going to save me some money.

I'm not saying "Whooo! So stoked for the changes!" or anything like that, just... better they make money and make a third game then not make as much as they could and scrap the series altogether.

I agree and support OP. This is beginning annoy me and I've been a fan and community member since BG. To all those people who don't "get it." The reason some people like myself who are mad is because we like RPG's not ACTION, ACTION/rpg. I know Bioware makes great games but I don't want to play a CoD:MW game with swords and cross-bows.
Will someone please explain to me where they have said it's going to be real-time action? I read it was going to have the same interface on the PC as DAO on these very forums which to me means the same battle system. As for the storyline having more action I am all for that, as long as the character interaction is there, which it most likely will be.

Look Moteh, I'll admit that I made an ignorant and irrational assumption; but it was because I get very emotional and hyped about my RPG's especially when most of the industry focuses on action and looking at how ME2 changed from ME1. ME2 is a great game but everyone knows that it turned more into a shooter than an RPG, even with those dialogue choices.
I believe that is what some of us were looking at when we heard news of a commander Shepard clone coming in. Some of us saw a well done "BG successor" turn into some sort of Mass Effect clone, but with swords and crossbows.
I read more about these new changes and am happy about their decisions with the PC version.

Bioware's making DragonAge 2 more cinematic? We all know what that means. They're going to turn it into a $60 movie like ME2!!
and the gaming industry is wondering WHY they've had their lowest grossing year in over a decade. Hmm, maybe because game developers keep focusing on the 'pretty' and not the f*cking DEPTH OF THE DAMN GAMES!!
Um, I thought it was because a) new game sales have decresed due to the recession, people end up buying used games andThe Wii is still the top selling console around which doesn't cater to 'teh hardcorez" (it does, you just have to pay attention, but I digress)
Listen up Bioware, and you b*stards listen GOOD! We don't WANT A MOVIE!! We don 't want to play as some concept character of yours known as HAWKE! The whole f*cking point of Origins was to make our own Hero. What the hell happened to your boast of decisions in one game carrying over to the sequels,HUH?! In ME2, the decisions made in the first game counted for absolutely NOTHING! Ohhh, if we let Ash die or Alenko, the one who lived gets to tell us off. Yay! What fun! And the Rachni Queen. All we get is a message from her through some random Assari. WEEEE! We were sure happy about that, let me tell ya.
Complaining about the choices from ME1 not having a huge impact in ME2 is like giving Frodo a map to Mordor in Fellowship of the Ring and expecting him to be in Mordor in the middle of Two Towers. Return of the King is the last chapter when everything came to a climax, just as ME3 will be when all the major choices finally come to bear from ME1 and ME2.The Suikoden Games back on the old PS1 and PS2 carried over from sequel to sequel better than your games! And the decision making in Alpha Protocal, while a short and boring game, at least had an impact on the game as you progressed.
All you are,Bioware, is empty promises. It's like you all got degrees from Politician school! Oh, let's tell the gamers that we're going to give them a great game, and heh, let's half-ass it.
I would not call ME2 half-assing it where decisions came into play, because the third chapter is still being made, so I have not seen the resolution of my choices much yet. I have simply seen glimpses into the ocean depths so far, I have not dived in, yet..Here's the bottomline. Unless you, and all the other developers, want to lose money and end up destroying the video game industry, you'll come to understand this simple concept. We gamers are the bosses. You all work for US! We pay your damn salaries every time we buy one of those $60 wastes of silicon! So don't YOU tell US what WE'LL like! We'll tell YOU!
Um, people who buy the game are the customers, people who produce the games are the bosses, the developer simply has the creative vision that the producer helps them to make a reality via funding and support. Now,Dragon Age 2. No Hawke, no new cinematic BS. Give us exactly what the first game was.
Cause that moves an industry forward alright, constantly remaking the same thing is truly the way to go.The graphics were fine, great to most, and the cinematics did they're job. You do NOT need to improve on that aspect and screw up the damn franchise! We get to use OUR HEROES from the first game, in an all new story. Because that's ALL we games want, a new story. Let the level cap go higher, give us new enemies and challenges, improve on the choice system--all that is fine. Just don't, and I repeat, DO F'N NOT, give us a Mass Effect 2 clone! Cause I promise you, we won't buy it. We won't talk about it, and BioWare will cease to be our favorite company.
Yet here you are talking about it and on their fan forums. I want a new story too, but you can't have the same hero all the time. What happens if your warden died in the first game? Why can't there be more than one hero in the universe? Why is your one warden the only person who can affect change in the world? What an ego to think you hold such power. Now, if you need ideas for a new story, come to me. I'm a writer. I've played the game, the DLC, and read the novels based on them. I can sit down with your writers and give the people the sequel they all want.
Unless I can go to my local libarary and find you on the shelves of the fantasy section or go to IMDB and find you on the listing as a writer for a movie rated above a 5 I dont' think you would work out writing a story for a game like DA, unless you just want it to be some fanfic that isn't cannon and doesn't fit with the designers overall ideaology for the universe..Fellow gamers, do you agree with what I've said? C'mon, stand up and be heard. This might just be a forum, but I know reps from the company watch it. Tell them what you want. Tell them what you'll do if you don't get it. My suggestion, boycott all BioWare products if they screw up Dragon Age!
Because I don't know about the rest of you, but in this era of gaming where everything is either First Person Shooters or lame ass Kiddy games(Yeah, talking to you Nintendo!), Dragon Age was the ONE game that reminded me WHY I shelled up $400 for the Original 360.
Go play Super Mario Galaxy 2 and when you get to 242 stars I'll allow you to call it kiddy if you still believe it. Graphics and sound effects doesn't make something kiddy. The ability to look past the surface and see the substance beneath is the mark of a mature gamer.
As for your purchasing an Xbox 360 for Dragon Age... um... PC version anyone? You can mod it, make your own campaigns, keep making them for years and you can sit there in your little DAO heaven where everything is exactly how you want it.
I have stood up, I have been heard... I wanted a deep world where I could get lost in. I wanted an experience that I could make lasting decisions in. I wanted to see new lands and meet new people. I became a gamer, now if you want to become a game designer and make the game the way you want, by all means, the industry needs fresh ideas, but chastising a game before you even play it is seldom a way to get things done. I hear it doesn't work for books either. Imagine that.
couldn't have said this better myself.

WHAT KIND OR WHORIFC fan ARE YOU?!
As for the toolset.. that can only take you so far before you feel or say "-sigh- Something's missing.."
Create all you want... Sometimes an official DIRECT follow-up story to the original is needed..
not this... spin-off monstrousity,... which bears the Dragon Age name!
