EA is a moneygrubbing company that only cares about making money and preforming ritual sacrifices to appease the Dark Lord Lucifer. Don't think for a second that they won't jump at any opportunity to force you to pay a to play their games.
Be afraid.

I seriously doubt Dragon Age 3 will be an MMO, and if it is, it probably will feature Microtransactions, rather than a monthly fee. Supposedly that's the Old Republic's pay scheme.
I'm sorry to sound ignorant but is there a difference? You're still paying to play.<_<

Difference between micro transactions and monthly fee?
HUGE difference
Monthly fee give you access to game but you still have to play to EARN your items
MT is just buying everything with real money and no one really accomplishes anything in game!
Hense why MT MMORPgames FAIL FAIL FAIL!

Adding.
MT also removes the cap that a game can earn from a player per month. This encourages developers to implement small things as MT, then progressively add more and more that become a requirement to stay competitive. It will end in Pay to Compete.
