The game is barely out yet and everyone is complaining about it.

Here's why DA2 will be awesome:

1. They are keeping the same gameplay mechanics from DAO in the PC version.

2. Hawke will be fully voiced.

3. Dialogue wheel! No more reading your own dialogue!

4. No more good vs. evil bull. I'm glad that BioWare are trying to deviate from their formula.

I am very satisfied so far.

This is also exactly why so many are beyond irritated. It removes almost everything that made Origins a great roleplaying game and make it into Mass Effect--which is not a roleplaying game. Great for Mass Effect fans, but very bad news for people who aren't, and who loved Origins.

One wonders how and why they made Origins in the first place, instead of the medieval shooter they seem to be aiming for now.

I can't help but notice that the vast majority of people complaining about complaining, who seem fine with all the changes and unconcerned about the affect on roleplay, are people that I've never seen on the Dragon Age boards. And I can't help but wonder if that's because most are Mass Effect  fans rather than Dragon Age Fans.

I know ME and think DAO were in development before the EA merger.  ME2 and everything coming out now is influenced by EA.  Remember when bioware said EA won't change them.  Yea, I called B.S. back then and it seems I was right.

You watch G4?

Hey, don't judge him. That one girl on attack of the show is sexy. And they talk about video games and tech stuff. What's more to want?

Once I read that the combat in the PC version is unchanged I stopped worrying about the game.

Yeah, but up there someone referenced DA's morality system. Unless they meant the lack of one, I'm puzzled as to what they meant.

Okay so the game was announced what, two days ago? I think it's way too early to pass judgment on the scraps of info we have now.

I wasn't answering point by point, so yeah, I like the DA morality system. As for the wheel, and objections to the changes in the dialogue system, and why full voicing is bad for roleplay, that's been explained over and over again here. You can't possibly not know what I'm talking about. It's been detailed in every thread on this forum. That or you aren't reading posts except to make like your namesake.

Whait what? Morality system? Are you talking about the + and - points your NPC gets? Who said thats removed?

I know what you are talking about  I just dont agree with the conclusion that it kills roleplaying.

So before I comepetely ignore this game I would like to say, to all those Dragon age fans who expected so much from Dragon age 2. I hope you are not as dissapointed as me.

I am not and I am perhaps one of their longest standing fans. BG1 was the game that got me into CRPGs. And I have bought almost everything that have made since then. I have enjoyed some more than others, but that is natural.

I did not expect a DA sequel to mean the adventures of my DAO hero would continue. I expected the world that they introduced me to in DAO to be expanded upon. It is- so I got my wish.

I am not super excited about the voiced PC- but I can li ve.

I think the writers are brilliant. Personal opinion that. I at least have faith that whether or not the mechanics suit me, the story, and NPCs will be stellar.

I am concerned about how the dialogue system, companion system and combat will work out- but I'd rather wait for information in these forums, or better yet a gameplay demo since while I may still be the target audience for the game, I am *absolutely* not the target audience for the marketing efforts.

I don't know why anyone expects a direct continuation of DAO in DA2. You would think people would recognize the unrealistic scale of a project that could incorporate choices made in an entire game and accurately represent them in a sequel. Lets be clear, Mass Effect was designed to do this and still hasn't done a great job of it. DAO was never designed or advertised to be a series, only a standalone title. You don't actually think they're going to do a better job importing decisions than a franchise that was designed to do so?

You guys should just be happy the franchise did well enough to warrant a sequel, there are many fans of games who never get so much. seriously stop complaining and be happy your franchise is getting anything, I am still waiting for Jade Empire.

Sigh. I didn't say that. I said I wasn't answering the list point by point. Let it freaking go. I. wasn't. talking. about. that.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the rest.

So, this is it. Rest in peace, BioWare, you may now join Westwood, Origin, Bullfrog and the others.

At least your soul, your zombified body maybe should consider making a movie instead of a game.

Also, someone seems to be really envious of Mass Effect here ... I bet we get to see an Envy Demon in DE2.

I dont care about all the gameplay changes aslong as I can still do an evil playthrough, and the story is good.

I don't know how evil you can be when considering the whole point of the game is to become a champion.

Amen to that.

The "fight like a Spartan" line just made me laugh out loud. How silly was it to use such a cheesy line to promote a game?

Or that bit:

"Hawke. He was a man on the edge, living the life of an outcast in a
world grown too tame.
"

It doesn't reflect on the game itself by the way, but how corny can it be to use lines like those to promote a game?

I'd think that one could have an easier time rising to power by being evil and just posing as a Champion. Good guys are not by definition power hungry or eager to rule (especially if they were not born to be rulers but had to seize power and carve a position for themselves).

Ok,   I  haven't played mass effect, so I'm ignorant on this.

What is a "dialogue wheel", exactly?

It's much like the menu where you pick your dialogue lines, except it looks like a wheel instead of numerated list, and you don't see the entire line your character will say but a shortened paraphrased version of it. Because it feels silly if you have already read what the character will say and then you hear it.

Well thank goodness, still feel like RPG elements are slowly getting snipped off every new game. But heh, I'll still buy it....  :P

I think any new IP will just be ME2 based crap. A fps that focuses too much on combat, with a very light based RPG elements and a generic story with little choices or dialog.
