I dont care about all the gameplay changes aslong as I can still do an evil playthrough, and the story is good.

I don't know how evil you can be when considering the whole point of the game is to become a champion.

I'd think that one could have an easier time rising to power by being evil and just posing as a Champion. Good guys are not by definition power hungry or eager to rule (especially if they were not born to be rulers but had to seize power and carve a position for themselves).

I guess that's why it takes you ten years to become one.

God you whiners. you've got 5-10 lines of vague marketing mumbo jumbo and you're all treating it like the end of the world. Cool off and stop being so god damn annoying! Youtube Dragon Age making of combat, watch that, see the passion and shut the ******************* up!

I don't think telling them to look at how they made the original combat system and how much passion went into it will change their opinion on how the team is now changing it.

You know, it says a lot about this game's direction if I can go from an adamant fan of Dragon Age highly anticipating the sequel, to the guy who says he won't be picking it up at all.

For everybody who keeps telling me " oo believe and have faith in Bioware " No I cant have faith in Bioware on this game. They have already changed so much I loved about Dragon age Origins already and the Mass effect dialog is the final bit of imformation that made me say " Im not buying this."

I feel sorry for the people who go into a shop and see Dragon age 2 on a shelf and say  "Omg Dragon age 2 yes! I can continue MY story and play the game just to find what a disapointment it will be"

I dont like the fact that you are picking all my choices for me. Its your fantasy Bioware, not mine anymore...

So before I comepetely ignore this game I would like to say, to all those Dragon age fans who expected so much from Dragon age 2. I hope you are not as dissapointed as me.

Okay, so let me get this straight. You have lost all faith in any possibility that this game could be good or decent and worth playing because of a dialogue wheel and the fact that your character actually has a voice and a "surname" now?
Have you even actually considered taking into account that this game, which spans through 10 years of Hawke's life, could actually be an even better story than what was told in Origins?

We don't know enough to judge this game so harshly yet. This is equivalent to juding a book by it's cover, and reading a single sentence on the book overview at the backside of it, then saying that the book is rubbish and completely unworthy of reading. Had you been more patient or willing to give it a chance, you may have found that the more you read the more you liked the book, and may come to terms with how unreasonable you sounded before you even gave it a chance.

Actually, it just says a lot about you.

Change is inevitable. I loved DA:O, one of my favorite games of all time up with KOTOR. But to say Bioware betrayed the fans, etc, etc, is pretty ridiculous. I don't remember getting anything from Bioware stating they weren't going to make any changes to the games design/formula. A lot of people complained about DA:O's graphics and now the graphics apparently are being upgraded and yet now everyone is complaining about that.

Yes the game is most likely being a little casualized but one of the great things about Bioware was the dialogue wheel from Mass Effect instead of having to read variations of text on what your character could possibly say. This could in fact just deepen the aspect of how your character interacts with the world because for me at least, every time I played DA I never felt like my character was truly part of the world, he never reacted, never said a word while everyone else did. It killed the immersion for me and now that my character has a voice it's going to make it better for me, in my own opinion.

As for the combat, didn't a lot of people complain about how there were really no tactics, hell have a mage or two do nothing but AOE spells, build up your "tank" character and tactics were thrown out the window, you basically had to do was "point & click" and manage health/mana. I never felt strategy/tactics truly came into play. Now combat may be more fluid, meaning you truly control the combat, sure that's not how most rpg's are but can anyone admit it might make you feel like you're "in" the game a bit more? Basically, how about instead of criticizing a game before it's done, before there are any real previews, hold judgment until you play the game. I for one will wait until I play it before I barrage Bioware with how they ruined DA2.

Amen to that.

The "fight like a Spartan" line just made me laugh out loud. How silly was it to use such a cheesy line to promote a game?

Or that bit:

"Hawke. He was a man on the edge, living the life of an outcast in a
world grown too tame.
"

It doesn't reflect on the game itself by the way, but how corny can it be to use lines like those to promote a game?

Well it's a step in the right direction if you compare it to "this is the new ****" as soundtrack for the trailers... :D
But yes, wording like "Fight like a spartan..." is the reason you dont pay too much attention to PR. It tends to aim for the worst stereotype of gamers. The same kind of people they sell the latest Michael Bay movie with shaky cam, boobs and lots of explossions...

The problem is. Some people will ALWAYS hate change. No matter what it is, a certain part of the fanbase will hate every single thing that is different from what they know and love. No matter what arguments you use to try to convince them that the change is for the better they wont listen. Theres nothing a developer can do about that other than follow and have faith that their vision will make for the better game.

The funny thing... when DA3 comes, the same people will complain about the new changes from part 2.

I haven't played DA:O, but I'm curious as to how BioWare has ruined DA2. I mean, didn't BioWare create the DA universe? They can do whatever the hell they want with it. Just becasue some don't agree doesn't mean it's been ruined.

That's just my first impression with no knowledge of the subject though, anyone feel free to explain to me how it's been ruined.

I'm waiting for a gameplay video, or at least a trailer, we're currently in that period where nobody really knows everything, we have half a page of text to go on, and lots of people start jumping to conclusions.

It's more like nobody knows a ****ing thing but they are gonna go ape **** about it anyways.
"WHAT MY CHARACTER IS VOICED!?!?! OH NOES THAT MEANS HE IS GOING TO BE A HERMAPHRODITE CLOWN THAT RAPES PUPPIES AND TALKS LIKE A 4 YEAR OLD RUSSIAN TRYING TO LEARN PIGMY!"

You guys seriously need to calm down and wait for the big information drop so we have details and facts and not just random speculation to go off of before you go off on a nerd rage tangent about how bad DA2 is going to be and how everyone who is excited about the game is a noob FPS looser who needs to go back to playing CoDMW2.

Gods!

Who writes this stuff seriously?! Even an 8 year old will roll his eyes at that.

How can they have great writers for the game and still have marketing come up with such cheesy lines?

You know there's a word for fans who are complaining like they are now before they've even played the game. Not sure if anyone here likes sports but there are fans of a team and then there are fair weather fans. Those are the fans who complain about everything the moment something changes or something doesn't go exactly according to plan. This is how I would describe all the "fans" who are complaining about a game they haven't even played yet.

It's one thing if you've played it and hate it, I can respect that as you would have experienced the game for yourself and are entitled to your own opinion, but talking crap about a game developer and a game before it's anywhere near release is just sad. Sure you're entitled to complain all you want, but seriously you might like DA2 a whole lot better than DA:O and if you go into it thinking it's going to suck than that's what you're going to come out thinking.

A) Fight like a Spartan clearly means he'll be naked and oiled up throughout the game.

B) Anybody still watch House MD? That other thing sounds like the promo for the porn movie Wilson was in. "He was a savage love god in a world grown tame." or something to that extent.
