Yes, let's accuse BioWare of "selling out" every time they make a gameplay or storytelling change. That's not elitist at all...

if you know how business runs you know how to control the world ;)

Except people are only using the "big business" card now that they see changes that they don't personally like.

Unless you believe that BioWare started as a non-profit organization when they made Baldur's Gate, that is...

I'm not going to accuse BioWare of selling out, because I don't really care. ME2 probably had more mass market appeal than the first game, but I enjoyed it far more than ME1, which I thought was yet another "get yer Star Maps" BioWare game with some clunky combat.

What I will say though is this, Ecael. It's a bad comparison to use Baldur's Gate because the game industry as it is now compared to ten years ago is very, very different. I haven't played BG2 (yeah yeah, blasphemy I know) but from what I do know about it, getting a game like that on shelves and getting publishers to sign off on it would be far more difficult now than it would be ten years ago.

Hell, could you imagine a publisher signing off on a big budget for a game like Planescape: Torment? The current environment is incredibly risk-averse, so you're bound to get a ton of shooters, "action-adventures", and sports games, but few games that really take many risks. It was hard for a guy like Chris Avellone to pitch Torment back in the late 90's, think about how tough it would be now.

Another thing, BioWare's games have been going mainstream for a looooonnnnngggg time now. If you can tell me with a straight face that KotOR was a deep, traditional, old-school RPG, well I don't know what I can do for you.
