Please, do not paraphrase lines.

Ok, so were getting dialogue wheel. I dont mind, I kinda liked it in MEs.
But one thing that annoyed me a lot was that lines in the wheel were paraphrased.
I mean, clicking "Investigate" then go "Personal History" is... just boring.
I wanna see what im clicking at. Like in The Witcher (yes I went there)

Reading through something, and then sitting through it being repeated again sounds even more boring to be honest.

Yeah dialogue was boring since phrases had no spice.
I mean, yeah, repeating isnt really best, but if I have to pick one of two evils, Id go for the Witcher/Gothic way.
It wouldnt be problem if character wasnt voiced. But thats different topic.

Whats so bad about mentioning The Witcher? There's only so many ways they can do dialog. My guess is there will be paraphrasing.

Maybe they will approximate, or abbreviate what Hawke will say, so there will be no surprises. It did get reduntant in The Witcher, reading a line and then hearing it immediately after.
This. One of the many reasons, albeit a small one, why I didn't like The Witcher. I've read it already, do I really need to listen to it, again?
I'd rather pick the opposite approach, like presented in Alpha Protocoll. There you just pick the general tone of your response, and it worked, at least for me.

I didnt really mind hearing stuff again, since czech voice actor was just genial. But still, one click and you skip it

I think it depends on how good the paraphrasing is. I mean, when talking we have a germ of an idea that we feel emotionally before we actually speak. If the paraphrase gives us a good idea of what to expect I'm fine with it. After all, the games have never allowed us to write our own dialogue. We're already just picking lines that Bioware writers write.
For example, in Dragon Age when Morrigan asks if she should be tied to a stake and burned you can choose "Maybe tied to a flagpole and tickled." On a wheel, it just becomes "Maybe tied and tickled." Then you could hear the full line from your PC. That would be fine. "[Mocking and flirtatious]" would be a pretty fail paraphrase though. I think it comes down to the implementation. I say give the writers the benefit of the doubt for now. And, if need be, mock them later.

I'm down with this approach. I also think its most likely what they will do. We'll get a dialog wheel, but the choices will closely approximate what Hawke says.

I urge you, do not restate the discussion in a different form.

(I apologize, for I may vent)
We have acknowledged the presence of a dialogue wheel. I bear no ill-will, for I appreciated this feature in Mass Effect.
However, hiding the meaning of the responses by restating them on the dialogue wheel was a major source of irritation.
Navigating to the "Investigate" option to access personal history is trite. I would prefer to view my available options. This is most comparable to "The Witcher" game (although I agree that this may be slightly tangential to the topic at hand)
