I figure, if we're going to take the dialogue wheel from Mass Effect, we might as well take the Codex system too! I admit I don't read a lot of the codex entries from Dragon Age, but I would certainly listen to them if I could. Duncan's VA should be the narrator. or Brother Genitivi, since he writes most of the stuff

NO.

VO is expensive as is- unless you want drastically fewer codex entries, man up on your reading skills, my friend.

Morgan Freeman/Genittivi/Duncan would make this game rock.

Uhm, no. I happen to read way faster then a narrator could speak, so I'd likely won't listen until the codex entry is finished. The codex is just what it is, some extra lore (that I appreciate!).

Bioware definitely needs some sort of playable codex that you can listen to while you play. Either that or try to make an effort to have the environments reflect the history of the world—perhaps Half-Life 2-esque?

That's one of the reasons I didn't like the story of the first game so much.

The main story arc was kind of crap, but the lore was rich and never narratively expressed.

Ehm, no thanks, for my part. I prefer the detailed codex in DA:O that could get updated, which can get complicated when it's voiced. I switched my speakers off when it came to listening to the voiced codex sections in ME anyway, I'm just one of those people who prefer reading things themselves instead of having it read for me.

I would also like a voiced codex entry thingie...

I would realy want it if Bioware decides too use text so small it is only readeble

if you have some friggin HD TV.

If they do it, it could work if Hawke read it to you.

No, please. No narrated Codex. I read a lot faster than a voice speaking. Please, don't ruin the Codex.

It should be an option to have it on or off that way everybody wins.

HECK no. At least, not without an option to turn that stupid voice off. I hate things that read to me. I've been reading on my own since before elementary school, tyvm, and I don't need someone else reading more slowly and distracting me.

You know what?
Let's cut all the audio logs from Bioshock and replace them with letters.

Doesn't anyone care about narrative structure?

If that's the case, the Codex should be personified by a libarian.

See, there's no solution for a voiced codex - it's either 4th wall breaking, or it's poorly immersive.

Since it looks like the game is atleast partially narrated by a 3rd party after Hawke has become the hero of Kirkwall, i woldn't be surprised if atleast some of the codex entries are with VO. Probably by the same voice.

I don't like it when Codicies are narrated. I can read far, far faster than the narration, so it just becomes distracting.

Yeah, but I like to eat while I game. It's hard to read and contain an overstuffed taco at the same time. I think you should be able to turn it on or off.

Excellent point!

If we taking the bad, may as well get some of the good in there as well

Why don't some of you just not bother with DA2 and just wait for Mass Effect 3?

Oh, god forbid we attempt to suggest improvements for how the DA lore can work into the expression of the story.

Why not make this game into medieval effect?
