I'm talking about a native, in house, Mac version - not a cider port.

Valve reports ~10% of sales are on Macs, Blizz seems fond of macs as well.

Native ports
1) Come out the same day as Windows versions
2) have rock solid performance
3) are supported - DLC, expansions etc

Using cider has shown it's disadvantages:

1) Game comes out later (people already have bought another version) so I doubt a Cider port sells
2) Game is not supported in practice - no Awakenings as of today, no DLC support etc
3) cider ports are clunky

Please Bio, make this happen :)

While there is a premium on Apple products, I've found the interface of OS X satisfying and reliable. I haven't seen 7 yet, but I'm used to the days of XP and Vista's substandard performance.

Actually, they have the option of installing a windows partition on their current machine via bootcamp. That's how I managed to play DA:.

Up until Micro$oft's POS started to give me BSOD after login - and OS X started telling me I couldn't create a new partition after going back to square one. This happened after I installed the toolset, running XP 32 bit at the time.

If you're a mac gamer, go with Bootcamp. Keep your drivers in check and you should be fine.

with Steam now on mac there's even a distribution channel waiting... even as a Windows gamer I support mac (and linux) gaming in it's fullest as it allows more people to play games, plus it is an additional revenue stream that is starved for games still.

Valve are great, Bioware should aspire to be more like them, along with every other developers and publisher.

I agree. But EA would never allow BioWare to release DLC for free.

very funny, now why don't leave the Porsches of computing in peace and go play with your skateboard?

Back to topic, Steam now indeed offers a great distribution channel for macs, which Bio can use and with Blizz & Valve releasing native mac games, I find it hard to believe that mac market is not worth a native, in house, release.

I agree. But EA would never allow BioWare to release DLC for free.

What does that have to do with DA2 on macs!?

Fail to see how Macs are the Porches of gaming. They are more like the fat slow cousin. Programming for Mac has a huge drove of problems compared to programming for the PC.

First off, Mac software is more hardware demanding, so its tougher to graphically make a game that is pleasing to fit in the Mac Platform.

Secondly, a 10% market that is low in of itself, sadly, usually isn't enough to give a company enough incentive to develop for it.

Think of it like developing games for P2Ps and whatnot, very limited possibilities, small market, etc etc...fail.

Apart from that, more platforms means that those who play on the traditional platforms get screwed because instead of companies using all of their resources for a few platforms, they spread themselves thin to develop for all the other crap platforms out there. The way I see it, be thankful that DAO is on Mac to begin with.

If you're using a Mac now, you probably have Leopard or Snow Leopard. You can run Windows XP, Vista, and 7 via bootcamp, while Snow Leopard has additional support for the 64-bit versions.

It's good enough for Blizz & Valve

The way I see it, since DAO for mac didn't receive support whatsoever, they should give us our money back tbh.

Yes, however I don't plan to pay for a windows license to play on my laptop. To play a PC only game, I use my desktop.

Anyhow, at this point it's likely I won't be purchasing DA2 anyhow so not a huge loss if they don't make a native port.

Porsche! If some day I buy a Porsche and find has the same components than a Toyota Yaris I'll get upset. And more if that Toyota surpases my car in acceleration and max. speed. Well, at least I'll have a good looking car...
