So the question is... Is this DA2 for mac another crappy porting or shall we expect something good? Because now I'm quite suspicious

I gather you didn't update to 1.04? Because since that it runs smooth as a baby derriere on OSX and every DLC is available...carabaldo75 wrote...
I have a mac... I bought DAO for it and I was disappointed for its bad performance and lack of dlc. So I tried a DAO PC version on bootcamp and it was perfect. With the same hardware...

Regarding DA2 on Mac: WOOOOHOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Freaking awesome. So I'm strongly leaning towards buying the DVD then as it's dual platform. I wonder if the digital download are dual platform as well..
THANK YOU BIOWARE!
As I'm getting older I have less interest in keeping my PC up to day. The Mac while more expensive is a thing of beauty. I'm glad to see more and more game developers recognizing it as a good gaming platform! and Valve made sure Apple has pushed the performance up several notches as well

In one of the videos I watched earlier today one of the developers stated DA2 was coming to 360, PS3, PC and Mac, then said the demo will be available on the 22nd for 360, PS3 and PC.Rimfrost wrote...
I guess the next question is: Will the demo come to mac as well?
So unless something changes between now and then it looks like it will not be.

Thanks Bioware, it's good to be heard.

Graphic wise it's a minor step up and on the edge of too cartoonish for me, but it wouldn't suprise me if it is better then DA:O and their best game to date (and yes BGII has a spot in my heart but it was quite repetitive and limited compared to DA:O).
The good thing with the graphics being a minor step up is that I'm not too worried about the cider port and openGL being able to handle it.

And another question (for those who own the (PC) disk version): Do you need to have the DVD present in your drive in order to play the disk version? For me, that is a major disadvantage, because of the noise of my drive and the (possible) performance drop while constantly checking for the disk... Although I feel more comfortable with owning a physical representation of a game, this is what I liked about the digital download version.

my only question for the mac thing is if we can transfer the files from DA PC over. I LOVE my PC but have a MAC for school--hopin I can continue the story during class
Since the game is still keyed to a BioWare social account, I imagine that they'd be able to draw on the information uploaded to your characters' online log to create the rough equivalent of an endgame save. Hopefully.

So, back to my question, the advantage of a Steam version is that you store your personal game files online? I don't think I need that. When I last played a Steam game, I found the need to be online while playing more annoying than useful.

I also like that you can pre-download the game and have it enabled later. Saves time on launch day :-). Leaning towards picking up the game on the way from work and have it on disc.
Other then that they are as good/bad as any other source.

(I still haven't got around playing Awakening, anyway, so when I'm ready for DA2, initial problems will hopefully be straightened out by them...)
Another advantage of the WIN/Mac hybrid package is that the price would probably drop faster for the retail version, contrary to the custom to keep Mac game prices high over years even when you can already find the Win version for $10...
(When I played Neverwinter Nights, I found the Windows version of the two expansions (HotU and SoU) together in a jewel case for a minimum price in some bargain distribution, while the Mac versions were still at $30 EACH. Needless to say that there was no problem installing the Windows expansions on the MAc system, since they were basically modules...)
