Don't know if this has been said a lot of times but I'd like to just share some thoughts on recent posts and expressions of opinions plus add some of my own.

I am really, really excited about DA2! The reason I say that is because honestly I don't know so much yet about it. none of us do. So some of us grab on to every single smallest piece of informationwe can get, myself included, and we fatnasize and have fun with that, enjoying that something we believe is going to be awesome is coming. What a fantastic feeling! Then there are those that grab for the information and feel their hopes and dreams crushed. Which is also completely understandable but not very productive for anyone. For those of you who are dissappointed, I suggest that you evaluate your manner of bringing critique and suggestions forth. Think of how you can inspire the developers rather than tire them with doubts and fears. Because you know as little as I do.

With that I want to conclude with just saying. I believe in you Bioware! You have always been my favourite game developer and I am so excited and happy that there are people out there with such passion for this hobby/interest=gaming. A company that cares about us fans, and actually involves itself in the forums. Developers that with delight and almost never fails to be professional while choosing to answer some of our questions. And even if you would somehow fail to fulfill my expectations I will not stop believing in your efforts. And honestly, I think you cannot dissappoint me. It is all about being open in life and encouraging new experiences and enjoying what is there. Follow your artistic beliefs and rock the world with what you believe is a great and engaging game! Thats all I would ask from you.

Thanks!

While I find the OP a tad more exuberant than I am capable of, I have to admit I'm very excited about DA2 as well. There are some aspects of it that I'm worried about, but at the same time it's thrilling to wait for every new tidbit of information and see the forums come alive with wild speculation. It's great to have a new BioWare game on the horizon :)

Agreed. There are so many people with so many hurtful and unproductive complaints that I can only imagine it must be wearying and disheartening at times for the staff members who frequent these boards. I cannot imagine that at any point, at any time, for any reason, the developers of these games are waking up and saying "Well, what can we do to make this game worse and ruin the fun of the customers?".

I know this is a business, so I can't say these people are doing you a favor by making their games so well, but I can say they are doing a service that people should be more appreciative of. If Bioware weren't around would we still have crpgs to play? Probably, but our standards would be a lot lower and, consequently, so would the quality of the market as a whole.

I suppose I agree, I will not go into a blind rage and whine about how I won't like being a human in DA2, as long as you can be female and male Hawke, and as long as you can choose what kind of person he will be in the game, I am fine, also I don't mind voiced over pc, however HE MUST SAY WHAT I READ. I recall in Mass effect reading the dialogue wheel and choosing some option, but Shepard said something totally different which was not what I was expecting. Overall before I judge something I wait anxiously for trailers and more info.

I agree. I think a lot of these people wouldn't be happy no matter what Bioware did. For me Bioware is the Pixar of RPG developing- They are the best and, at worst, they would make a slightly above average game. I have yet to be let down by any of their games. Have I had my issues? Yea I have. There have been things I haven't liked about some of their games. But you know what? A few gripes here and there doesn't make me hat e their games. I still love them. And I think I always will. Hell I trust them enough that I would pre-order DA2 now if I had the money. Well that and if I knew they were not doing a collectors edition. XD

I have some reservations, though those are to do with story rather than gameplay. I trust BioWare will deliver on the gameplay regardless of the story.

I suppose what has irked a few people is that after the commitment to DA:O is that we don't seem to know what really happens to our characters. So many plot points left unresolved.

However, it also leads me to believe that we should expect a DA3. Why? Well, consider that DA2 will take place place after the Blight and over the course of a decade. The Warden and Alistair haven't died of the taint just yet, unless they do get killed off off-screen as it were, and Morrigan's child is growing up. (Seriously, what can a baby do if we move straight to that particular follow up?) It seems an interesting way to fill in the gap in the story, though that's just my own conjecture on that.

As for the dialogue thing...having Hawke voiced is nice, but I guess it loses a sense of immersion with your character. With DA: O you read, and hear, the dialogue in your own voice, but with someone speaking the dialogue that gets lost. A shame, but not game breaking as you are playing a specific character, like Leliana in Leliana's Song.

At last I've found some1 who is actually not whining about the Hawke name and voice acting..

I have a feeling that some ppl coming to the Forums just to complain and cry about DA2 even if they have like 10 line information about it.

Voice acting -> Intresting

Hawke -> I really dont give a **** about my PC's last name

Only Human -> Fine by me, as long as you can customize him/her

and yet we still know nothing about fighting system and dialogue system and I've seen guys crying over about that.. WTF dude?

Yeah people really need to relax and just trust Bioware. Theyve been giving us great games for quite a while now...i think they know what theyre doing with their own IP.

For me, Bioware made the best game ever to be on a PC, the Baldur's Gate trilogy. And while I enjoyed the fast battles, the stunning graphics and the little twists of the story of DAO, Baldur's Gate still remains unsurpassed.
But I really enjoyed DAO and Bioware is the "mother" of Baldur's Gate and will always have my respect for that.
In my humble opinion this company has the "magic touch" and I want to believe that whatever they choose to do will retain that magic. If we agree or disagree on some points all of us, I have faith on those guys:wizard:

I remember the pre-ample at BG where it said that the games were designed by people who loved RPGs first and formost as fans, as players and that shows indeed. :)

This seems and odd statement, considering Bioware is primarily known for its stories and the rp element of their games. If anything I would trust Bioware with a story above and beyond all other aspects of the game. In fact, even if I should not like what they do with the mechanics, I suspect the story will carry it through despite that.

I think the most common concern when people bring up story about DA2 is the fear that their Warden's story will be over with a great deal left unresolved. Some of that, though, will likely be resolved through DLCs, some of it will be resolved in the DA2, though maybe not the way you expected to see it, and some of it will likely wait for future releases. I admit, I will miss Leliana and some of the others - but the sequel will have plenty of its own very interesting characters and even if they never bring our companions back from Origins, I will at least have those fond memories of them. (much as one fondly remembers characters from books, movies, tv, etc. Always sad to see them go, but ultimately we move on)

Im very pleased with the premise of the new game so far. All the hate spewing forth on these boards the last few days has been downer. Bioware did not have to make this game at all. We should be happy they let us play in their world, not ****ing and moaning because the creators of the game are making changes they deem appropriate. I trust Bioware to make a great game as usual...they haven't let me down yet.

Looking foward to feb.2011.

I agree, I believe DA2 will be great how ever they decide to do.

I just believe a non human could make an interesting character to become the most important character i Thedas, the world could change for the better for the other races.

Am looking forward for more information to be released.

Thanks, Discus. I'm very excited about some of the things we get to do in DA2-- while some folks are nervous (and lacking detailed information I can't rightly blame them) about some of the changes we've made, they do bring with them advantages. Here's hoping that when you do finally see what we have in store for you, you'll be blown away.

And thank you also for the kind words. Enthusiasm makes for a refreshing change of pace today. :)

I think a lot of people are angry about the information presented just because of what it entails. Dragon Age to a lot of people was more than just a good RPG, it the last bastion of traditional RPG design in a world of console oriented games. To change it at such a fundamental level from what we've seen represents that the traditional design might truly be dead.

I salute Bioware for what they've given us, but I also lament what they've become.

I believe DA2 will deliver an awesome story and great characters, just as DA:O did.

I love that it's taking us to other parts of Thedas that we haven't had a chance to eplore in details before. While, I'm sad to be leaving my Warden behind, I'm curious to see what kind of destiny Hawke is going to have and what his story is.

My excitement will increase as we get more information and come closer to release date.
