I enjoy DAO so much and I believe Bioware team will do even better for DA 2 even if it will be hard.
I read a lot of criticism since the beginning of this forum and I just don't understand why, we have so little information. Patience is the right path I think.
But it also show that a lot of people care about the series.
It's not the story of the hero of Ferelden and it's always hard to let go...but there are so many differents stories in this brand new world and maybe we can still encounter some familiar people from DAO anyhow.
Thanks to Bioware team !

Thanks, Discus. I'm very excited about some of the things we get to do in DA2-- while some folks are nervous (and lacking detailed information I can't rightly blame them) about some of the changes we've made, they do bring with them advantages. Here's hoping that when you do finally see what we have in store for you, you'll be blown away.
And thank you also for the kind words. Enthusiasm makes for a refreshing change of pace today.
My pleasure! It was from the heart. Looking forward with excitement to see what you guys have created for us! Til then, all the best and warmest.

I've had my doubts, and a few will remain until the coming weeks and months where actual information will hopefully disperse of them, but there's such a lack of decent RPG's for us console users that I can only be grateful that Bioware are giving most of us something to look forward to.

Honestly, I'm of the mindset that so long as they've kept the writers (and, would you look at that - they have!) DA2 will be just as brilliant and entertaining as DA:O. The fact that they've changed some things around doesn't bother me. The potential change in art direction doesn't bother me. Playing as one race, the new dialogue system, a complete voiceover - none of it bothers me.
Some would call that blind faith, and maybe they're right. But these are the people that gave us the Dragon Age universe, and they definitely deserve at least a small bit of "blind faith."

Since you can't play as a dwarf or elf, I hope that they at least appear in npc form and that DA2 doesn't pretend that they never existed.

I just want a less buggy game. Other than that, I'm pretty much open minded.

I don't believe there's any doubt at all that they will, in fact, I'm pretty sure somebody from Bioware confirmed this somewhere on this forum within the last few days.

Right now personally, I'm wishing and hoping and thinkin' and prayin' planning and dreaming each night of a game --that will combine all the great things I love in BioWare games without any of the things I which they hadn't done (a very very small list). And like the OP I also believe in you. I think most of us do, we just worry.

That's all well and good, and it seems there's two contrasting poles on this forum, those who feel betrayed and those who are excited, I do not fall into either category, Yes some people are overreacting and that's not a good thing. I fall somewhere in the middle, I am still excited to see what Bioware can bring us with DA2 but I don't feel (yet) that it's a true sequel to DA:O, but yeah this is due to lack of information, second I am do disagree with certain choices I've heard about that I feel detracts from the idea of DA that I have. It's nothing really big, but just because we got sparse information doesn't mean we aint allowed to respectfully disagree with what we've already heard, such as strictly human, voiced main character and so forth.Discus wrote...

As I've said, I disagree with what they're going with, nothing that's really been a deal breaker yet though, but I am not the person slaving away, knowing the ins and out of the development of the game to really judge their vision, it could be from a merely artistic standpoint and that's fine, I'm just the dude at the end who can decide to buy it or not. I am a little peeved that the exclusive is in goddamn game informer though, we don't have that in Denmark.
In the end, What do I know? I'm a bear I suck the heads off fish!

This seems and odd statement, considering Bioware is primarily known for its stories and the rp element of their games. If anything I would trust Bioware with a story above and beyond all other aspects of the game. In fact, even if I should not like what they do with the mechanics, I suspect the story will carry it through despite that.
You misunderstand my reservations about the story, reservations you identified later in your post. My reservations are how Dragon Age 2 will connect with Dragon Age: Origins, specifically in terms of the characters not whether the story for it will be any good. I'm sure the actual story to be told in DA2 will be good and I'll be hooked all over again, but that won't lessen my disappoint in not seeing those characters again so soon, because I want to know how the story follows from DA: O. It's still my belief that the story element will be resolved in (fingers crossed) DA3, where both stories then tie in together with some characters from both being in it. (Conjecture mode activated: I see DA2 as a set up for connecting DA: O to the whole Morrigan's baby plot by advancing the timeline but not with the same characters.)
I've been following BioWare since Jade Empire and the stories have always been fun and involving. So I'll end up getting DA2 regardless.

It does make for good entertainment for folks like me who enjoy these pieces of media but take them for what they are...just entertainment.

I will have to agree, I think they, Bioware, do there best for us to be innovated, they listen to us, and sometimes we face the simple old age warning, careful what you wish for you might get it, Many people call this game Dragon Effect, like that is a bad thing, honestly I found the mechanics of ME 1/2 far more engaging than DA:O not that DA wasn't a fantastic game it was, but I just found the ME mechanics more engaging and far more realistic both socially and combat wise. So to all those who are branding this game Dragon Effect, realize this, that ISN'T necessarily a bad thing.
Of course it is, for those that much prefer DA:Origins over Mass Effect.
I've got nothing against DA2 having some similiar elements in it to that of the Mass Effect series, but both games need to keep there own identity.
I should imagine many, including myself, DO NOT want to play Mass Effect all over again but only with a different character and in a different setting.

Exactly XD, give us information !!! jejeje, nah, I know you can't, and that there still much work to do yet about DA2 (I think), But what really worries me, is that change of story, I mean if Bioware has a plan to continue the story of the warden & friends in a future release or not ?? because, personally (and reading all the epilogues on DAO) is what I was expecting about DA2, a continuation (or at least a proper ending for the warden), and the fact that you have decided to start a new character on a new storyline makes me think that the story of the warden is ended... I really hope being wrong about that :S

That`s true, I mean.. I've played ME1 & ME2, and I enjoyed both games, but it would be a mistake making the DA series similiar to the ME, because are two very diferent kinds of games, besides the fact that on a fantasy RPG you should be able to decide how your character will be (race, class, etc) or in case this is not possible (as it seems to be in DA2) at least they could make something similar to a Origin for Hawke, and "customize" his background being able to make decisisions on that "origin" that will affect the future of Hawke .
by the way, that famous wheel of ME, don't really know how they plan to use it, but at least they should change the colors for DA2 XD I just can't immagine being on a dungeon, engage on a conversation, and see an orange, grey and white wheel (if my memory isn`t failing XD) on the middle of my screen XD and of course.. whithout that red and blue telling you the paragon/renegade options ^^' XD
I think DA2 will be another great game, but I want an ending for the DAO warden XD,... who knows, maybe this hawke becomes important on the future of the warden one way or another ... or maybe not XD
