So i ran this game very well up till i reach the circle tower part of the game.  Now, every hour or two (kind of randomly) the game will crash with me getting the windows errors telling me that a problem has occured and how windows was forced to shut down the game. Was wondering if anyone had a solution to this problem. By the way, my computer specs are way beyond what is required for this game.

ok.... So is that your way of asking me to type my full computer specs? Ive read this problem on other sites I was hoping you guys could just offer a simple solution to the problem. Regardless, here are my specs. Ive heard that one possible solution would be to downgrade to the 9.7 catalyst drivers, even though they are on the 10.0 + catalyst drivers now. Any help would be appreciated.

Now from going through the forums on this site it seems that alot of people have been having problems with the game crashing since the most recent patch. I just bought this game a couple of days ago. Is this really the case or is there something else i should be doing to help make it so the crashes dont happen. Like i said it only happens every hour or two, spontaneously (so its not too big of a problem). However its really quite annoying when your about to kill a boss and the game crashes.

This is a common problem that came with the 1.03 patch. Bioware are going to release a new 1.04 patch in the next couple of weeks that shall fix it.

Until that, you can reinstall the game and only upgrade to the 1.02a patch. However; if you use Steam, you will have to wait for the new patch. Steam will always install the latest patch automatically.

Note that you will not be able to play Awakening, or the Darspawn Cronicles and Lelianas Song DLC with 1.02a. But if you just got the game, that is no problem. You can start playing with 1.02a, and uprgade when the 1.04 patch arrives.

Hi, have you reviewed your application log in event viewer to see if you can pin-point your crash? My game has not crashed while playing DA, but in the past when I had a hard crash while playing games, it was caused by buggy video drivers. How is the heat in your case? Have you monitored your cpu and gpu for heat issues? When you crashed did you get a BSOD? If so, you can google the stop code. Hope that helps and best of luck to you.

i have been having an identical issue, i have always worried about heat on my vid card as an issue. so i downloaded EVGA's precision and had it log while i played. im running a 6600 core 2 quad CPU which runs very cool while the vid card (8800GT) runs hot. ive had it run at 90 degrees Celsius (as a test) without crashing but as soon as i get about an hour or two into uninterrupted play it will crash even if ive got my vid card down to 60 degrees with extra fans on it. ive got windows 7 64 bit and ive heard that a lot of other people with that same OS are having this problem, maybe you should be asking what OS these problems are happening on. another thing ive noticed. most of the people getting this problem are both running win 7 AND running an older quad core. people with new quads (i7) or 2 cores are fine.

Well I am using using windows 7 and using a quad core system. Also, I really dont think the video card/PSU temperature is a problem. My CPU runs about 40 degress C idle and will reach its high temperature of about 65 degrees C when playing dragon age. And my GPU runs also at 40 degrees C idle and will reach its high of about 62 degrees C when playing dragon age.

Whenever the game crashes it always just goes straight to my desktop and gives me the windows error "dragon age origins has encountered an error, and has stopped working " (Or at least something along those lines). I have never gotten the BSOD with the crashes.

So by the sound of it, I have to wait for the new patch to come out for my problem to be fixed? Anyone have any idea how long it will take for that patch to come out? I just got this game like three days ago, its kind of bunk that I was only able to play it for one day without having to worry about the game crashing.

I noticed here you said your cpu was running at 65C while playing dragon age.  Well, you might want to make sure your cpu heatsing/fan isn't plugged with dust.  The max temp of your processor as stated here http://products.amd....1=True&f12=True is 62C.
